The King's Unbreakable Wife-Chapter 114: Promised kiss (1)
Chapter 114: Promised kiss (1)
"One day has gone by too soon," Hazel muttered, looking out the carriage window at the palace in view.
The night she was allowed to spend with her family came and went by too fast. Now she was heading back to the palace to start preparing for becoming Tobias’s wife.
As much as she wanted to be around her family a little bit more, Hazel was a little excited to see Tobias.
To be certain that he had not gotten into any trouble by looking for the doctor who was to come to her or get in trouble with his parents for the quick engagement.
The carriage stopped by the steps leading up to the big front doors which were wide open and the head maid could be seen standing outside.
The door was opened for Hazel and a hand offered for her to hold to step out.
"Thank you," Hazel thanked the guard. They had been a great help to her during the time she was with her family.
Hazel didn’t mind the silence of the guards as opposed to the maid. She realised how someone could shadow her and not be creepy. There had been something about the maid and hopefully, she would get a different maid this time. One who wouldn’t mind speaking to her in private.
Hazel started to walk up the steps so she wouldn’t keep Valerie waiting. It didn’t come as a surprise that none of the Castros were here to greet her. They were royalty and had no time to spare for a simple welcome back.
It was expected, but still a little disappointing because Hazel was used to her family greeting her as she returned from anywhere.
"Welcome back to the palace, Lady Hazel. I will be watching over you today," said Valerie.
The queen gave her the special task of getting Hazel settled in and giving her a better tour of places in the palace she could not visit before.
There were still a few rooms off limits to Hazel until she would be married, but there was still plenty she had to see.
"Good morning, Valerie," Hazel returned the greeting.
"It is best that you refer to me as the head maid instead of using my name so casually. Headmaid Valerie would be good since there are a few more maids with positions close to mine. Shall we?" Valerie asked, ready to take Hazel to her new room.
"Understood and yes, I am ready," Hazel replied.
There were four maids standing behind Valerie with their heads bowed.
"They will help you during the days leading up to your wedding. They shall be your shadow and do all that you need. If you would like the maid you had during the selection, it is possible for me to have her come back," Valerie offered.
"No. I will go with whoever is here," Hazel answered, happy to not have the maid again.
"Good. I will take you to your new room. You brought some of your belongings," Valerie said, looking at the guards bringing a large box from the carriage. "The palace has everything you will need already prepared for you. From dresses down to the books you will need to read."
"I am aware. These are just a few things that are irreplaceable that I wanted to bring with me," Hazel answered, looking at the small box she settled on.
It was mostly books she enjoyed or was yet to finish that she brought along. Two dresses and a pair of shoes that Helena picked out for her. Lastly, a small portrait of her family that she was going to place in the room. freewebnøvel.coɱ
"I’m sure that will be fine," Valerie said, smiling to please Hazel, but she made a little note in her head to have one of the maids inspect the box.
They knew nothing of Hazel to be able to trust that she wouldn’t bring something bad into the palace. What exactly could Hazel need to bring when the palace would have everything she needed or would ask for?
"Your room was moved to another wing of the palace. You’ll be moved to another room when you become queen," Valerie explained as she led Hazel to where she was staying now.
"A room that I will share with Tobias?" Hazel asked though she already knew the answer because of what Tobias told her. She wanted to hear more about how it would be.
"No. You and the prince will not share rooms for the early years of your marriage. You will be placed in one when it comes days for the two of you to try for an heir. Do not worry as you will share a room with him one day just like the king and queen do now," Valerie answered.
Hazel found it to be weird how there would be days assigned for her to sleep with Tobias. Why did anyone have to know when they were being intimate? The whole palace was going to know and then maybe the town would too. Why couldn’t the matter be private since they both knew they were to try for a child?
’Maybe it is better than it sounds now,’ Hazel thought, trying to be positive.
Hazel followed Valerie to the side of the palace she came quite close to the first day of the selection. It was near here that Tobias had taken her to see a small garden. She remembered the ugly piece of art that was on the walls.
"Where is the prince now?" Hazel asked, curious about what Tobias was doing now that the selection was over.
Valerie didn’t have a clue where Tobias was since it was not her duty to follow him around. Still, she had to give Hazel an answer. "The prince might be training with the palace guards or near the king to prepare for his coming time to be crowned king. You will not see him as often as you did in the selection and I advise you not to send your maids for him."
"You will be around the queen for most of the day. The Castros eat breakfast and dinner together so you will need to get dressed to join them on time. Today you might get to see the princess before dinner. Her morning lessons should be over soon," Valerie said, looking around for a clock to see the time.
Hazel looked forward to seeing the princess as it wasn’t every day the princess showed up before crowds and if she did, she stuck close to the queen.
"This wing of the palace belongs to you. There will be guards to protect you. This is your new room," Valerie said, stopping before the white door. "Would you like me to give you a tour of the room or would you like to get settled in on your own?"
"I would like to look around myself," Hazel answered.
"Very well. The maids will be outside waiting for you to call them in. I will be back in an hour to start your official tour of the palace and give you your new schedule. We have a busy day ahead of us so use the hour wisely," Valerie said as she opened the door for Hazel.
This time Hazel wanted alone would give her a moment to find out where the prince was so she could avoid taking Hazel that way. Valerie would not have Tobias and Hazel distracting each other.
Hazel walked inside the room that was much larger than the one she had before. At first glance, she could tell that it was larger than the bedroom she had at home.
Hazel listened to the door being closed behind her as she walked further into the room. There were dresses already hung up on display which led her to assume she would need to change out of the dress she wore now.
There were also flowers, small sweets, and a card placed on the bed.
"Hazel."
Hazel jumped, startled by someone calling her name when she was meant to be alone. "Tobias?" She whispered, going to the balcony where she saw something move out of the corner of her eye.
