The Happy Farmer Wanderer-Chapter 751: The Beauty of Jade Manor_1
Li Qing returned to the village and began a very leisurely lifestyle of letting things slide.
These were probably the rare days when he didn’t need to think about anything or do anything at all.
He would lie down under the old apricot tree in front of his sister-in-law’s house with that plump orange cat, squinting in the sun, and that would be his whole day.
During this time, the only thing Li Qing did was maintain his cultivation practices.
His sister-in-law and her family had basically adapted to the presence of Jing Yan and Zi Ling, and life had gradually found its rhythm.
The only thing Han Mei still couldn’t get used to, and what made her incredibly uncomfortable, was how excessively respectful Jing Yan was to her, no matter what she said to him.
"Time for dinner, Qingzi!"
Han Mei’s voice came from inside the yard.
Li Qing patted the orange cat’s chubby head and got up from the lounge chair, "Come on, let’s eat."
The orange cat meowed lowly, expressing strong resistance to Li Qing’s patting of its head.
Man and cat made their leisurely way home, where a sumptuous meal was already on the table.
Quite accurately, ever since Jing Yan came to the house, the standard of food had never declined.
Right after a joyous meal, Li Qing suddenly received a phone call from Lü Zong.
After a brief inquiry, he learned that Mountain Ghost liquor was about to officially launch, and Lü Zong was seeking Li Qing’s opinions.
Li Qing didn’t have any particular opinions, he just asked Lü Zong about some of his plans.
Mountain Ghost liquor, being a tonic liquor aimed at the high-end market from the beginning, had a very clear positioning.
The only thing that needed consideration was how to ensure smooth sales for the liquor, so as not to encounter a situation like the last time. Lü Zong’s idea was to create a standard version of Mountain Ghost liquor by blending the tonic liquor base, so it would have a certain tonic effect and meet the general market’s demand.
Li Qing naturally didn’t have any objections to this matter.
Right from the start, he had made it clear that he would not interfere with the operations of the distillery, his only job was to ensure the supply of the Solidifying Spirit Elixir.
However, after the last incident, it seemed that Lü Zong had developed a certain reliance on his opinions.
But regarding the specific operations, Li Qing still maintained his previous attitude, whatever the plan, Lü Zong would decide, and he would at most offer some additional comments.
"Qingzi, I think you should come take a look at the factory, you should at least get a general understanding of things," Lü Zong said over the phone, "Don’t just say you don’t care and then really not care about anything, after all, you are the vice president. Even if you’re not in charge of any tasks, you are still the vice president."
"Lü Zong, I think you’re setting a trap for me, this was something we had agreed upon from before," Li Qing laughed.
Lü Changxi laughed heartily, "Qingzi, how could I be setting a trap for you? As the company’s vice president, you do need to understand the specific operations. Find some time soon, I’ll take you for a stroll through the factory to take a look. You should meet the manager of the distillery and such, oh right, that’s important too."
"As the company’s vice president, you can’t expect me to have them know you through a photo, can you? At the very least, you should let the people under you know you, especially the management. It’ll make things more convenient later when doing work."
Li Qing felt it, this old guy was definitely setting him up.
"Okay, I’ll come over in the afternoon," Li Qing said with a laugh, "having you, the big boss, repeatedly hurry me along really feels a bit improper."
It was just in time, as his custom-made jade bottles were almost out, and he needed to pick some up.
After hanging up the phone, Li Qing mentioned he was going to the county town, initially intending to see if Jing Yan and Zi Ling were interested in going out for a bit of fun.
But the two had just returned from a stroll outside and neither was inclined to move again.
With them not going, Han Mei and Wu Xingxing couldn’t leave either, as they had to stay home and take care of things.
Seeing this, Li Qing decided to head to the county town by himself.
He first visited the Jade Manor to collect the jade bottles he regularly ordered before he would look for Lü Zong.
Perhaps because it was lunch break, Jade Manor was quiet and empty, not a single employee in sight.
Li Qing looked around the hall, craning his neck here and there, and called out, "Is anyone there?"
No one came from the inside, but a graceful and slim figure hurried in with small steps from outside.
"Mr. Li, why have you come so early today? I just happened to step out to buy some lunch, would you care for a bite?" Cai Qingping offered, somewhat awkwardly lifting her lunch box and smiling at Li Qing.
Li Qing looked up at the wall clock, "No need, I have already eaten. It’s almost two o’clock, and you’re just having lunch now?"
"Yeah, well, I was a bit busy just now; lunch got delayed a little," Cai Qingping placed her lunch box on the small round table inside, wiped her hands with a damp cloth, and said, "I’ll get your items for you first."
"No rush, enjoy your meal first, I’m not in a hurry," Li Qing gestured with his hand, "The food will get cold if it sits out for a while, you better eat quickly, I can wait."
"No problem, no problem, it’s not a big deal for me," Cai Qingping waved her hand and laughed, "But, could I ask for Mr. Li’s help to hold a ladder steady? All the staff have gone out for lunch, and your custom-made items were placed up high because they need to be stored for a while, so I’ll need a ladder to get them."
"My things aren’t that valuable, why all the fuss?" Li Qing joked.
"You’re making light of it, Mr. Li, but now you’re our store’s biggest customer. Ever since I took your order, I haven’t needed to worry about anything else for the past two months, and I’ve exceeded my sales targets—how could it not be valuable?" Cai Qingping laughed.
"Let’s go, how can I assist you?" Li Qing asked.
Cai Qingping pointed at the top of the large glass cabinet, "Mr. Li, your items are in that topmost compartment there."
Li Qing looked up and indeed spotted a familiar box.
Each time he placed an order for jade bottles, the Jade Manor always packed them in such boxes.
The box was indeed placed quite high, level with the ceiling.
The Jade Manor’s shopfront was simple, with a row of glass display cabinets at the front and a solid wood display cabinet taking up the entire back wall, divided into small cubic compartments covered with glass.
Cai Qingping moved the ladder out, "Just need you to hold it for me, Mr. Li. The floor is too slippery, I need it steady to avoid slipping. If I fall, it’s not a big deal, but if your items were to fall, I couldn’t afford to compensate for them."
"No worries, a great beauty like you is worth far more, what’s the big deal about dropping a few things?" Li Qing teased with a smile.
Cai Qingping picked up on the implications in Li Qing’s words, her eyes and brows subtly casting a shy veil.
