Chapter 707: Chapter 707: Better to Dredge than to Block_1

Qin Wenjun’s provocation ignited Li Qing’s strong fighting spirit.

"Has everyone become so brazen now? You still want to clamp down on me, don’t you know you’re playing with fire, young lady?"

He moved closer to Qin Wenjun, looked down, and surveyed the scenery below her hips.

The tight pants that were popular now were liked by women and appreciated by men.

When squatting down, they clung tightly to the skin, almost revealing every detail clearly.

"What are you doing?" Qin Wenjun quickly shifted to block Li Qing’s view.

Li Qing curled his lips, "We’re an old married couple now, can’t I have a look?"

"Bullshit old married couple, we’re newlyweds!" Qin Wenjun shouted.

"Then all the more reason I should look, right? After all, I’m not done playing with you, and we’re far from being sick of it," Li Qing said teasingly.

"Put away your rascal’s face, I’m busy here, don’t distract me without helping," Qin Wenjun murmured softly, a touch of shyness flushing her rosy cheeks.

"Then let me have a proper look tonight," Li Qing laughed.

Qin Wenjun rolled her eyes, "What’s there to look at? You handle it and that’s that, right?"

"It’s not the same, admiring, playing around, and then taking it slow—it’s a whole process. Who told you that place is so beautiful and charming; I just can’t help myself from looking!" Li Qing explained.

The blush on Qin Wenjun’s cheeks became even more pronounced instantly.

"Just shut your mouth, stop talking," she exclaimed in embarrassment.

Li Qing’s words made her feel warm all over, especially in that spot, which felt particularly warm.

Li Qing, persistent as ever, laughed, "Then you agree to let me play with it tonight."

"Fine, fine, fine, I’ll let you play, isn’t that okay? I never refused before, honestly," Qin Wenjun said irritably.

She made it sound like it was something they’d never done before, and who knew who it was that nearly brought out a magnifying glass to look before.

Li Qing chuckled, "It’s different when I find it myself, compared to when you offer it willingly."

Qin Wenjun gave a big eye roll, wishing she could hurl all of these iron skewers at him for being so annoying with his words.

What’s the difference?

In the end, it’s still him bending and probing and causing a ruckus.

So annoying!

"Let’s talk about something serious," Qin Wenjun said as she placed the skewered mutton on the counter, addressing Li Qing in a serious tone.

"Go ahead," Li Qing nodded as he spoke.

"Have you heard about those rumors spreading around the village lately?" Qin Wenjun asked.

Li Qing nodded with some realization, and asked, "You mean the rumors about bringing those coach drivers home to stay overnight, right?"

"Yes, I think we should intervene, we can’t let it continue like this. If it goes on, it’s not good," Qin Wenjun said with a subtle hint of frustration, muttering somewhat speechlessly, "I just don’t get it, it’s not like they can earn much money, why would they do this? How will others view our village in the future?"

Li Qing looked at Qin Wenjun seriously and said, "I knew you wouldn’t be able to sit still after hearing about such things, but, with no solid evidence, how can we intervene? Others definitely won’t listen to us, and even if we know who is doing it, do you think they would admit it?"

"This is something that needs to be addressed, but there’s no way to handle it. If they don’t care about their reputation and are willing to earn pocket money with their bodies, what can we do to stop them? In a small place like the village, rumors work better than confronting them directly, but look, they don’t even care about that, so why would they care about what you say?"

Qin Wenjun, with a troubled expression, said, "But if this goes on, our village’s reputation will be destroyed. People will not talk about the Wenguan Leaves or the beautiful scenery of Sanhe, but instead, they’ll mention the women here are easy."

Li Qing wiped his hands and handed the cleaned skewers to Qin Wenjun, "What you’re saying is indeed a problem, and eventually, rumors like this will spread. But, how should we go about handling it?"

If it were possible to intervene, that would be good; at the very least it would prevent Sanhe Village from becoming synonymous with such activities, attracting flocks of men who are into novelty into the village all day long.

The thought alone made Li Qing uncomfortable.

But the key issue was that it was difficult to start dealing with the problem.

Qin Wenjun suggested, "How about you step in and have a talk with them? Let’s first find out why they choose to earn this quick money, and from their purposes, we can find a solution. If it’s because their lives are hard and they’re struggling to get by, we could even employ them. Eventually, the village can arrange some support."

"As long as they’re connected to us in some way, I think we can find a way to intervene."

Li Qing nodded earnestly, "That might indeed be a solution. It happens that Shili Yi will probably need people after a while, and we need to start making arrangements in advance, to free you all up. Each of you is boss material, not meant to be busy with menial tasks all day."

"Isn’t there no plan for Shili Yi at the moment?" Qin Wenjun asked, puzzled.

"There’s no plan for now; I’m waiting for news. As long as there’s no large-scale relocation, we will definitely need to start some industry over there," Li Qing explained. "Even if that’s not certain, you all don’t need to be so busy with the barbecue stand, splitting a few hundred dollars among yourselves."

Qin Wenjun clicked her tongue, teasing, "Now you really are a big spender, huh? Not satisfied with a daily income of a thousand or eight hundred? Even if we split it among us, our normal daily income is still about two to three hundred dollars, which is very good, much higher than my salary."

"It’s not that I’m not satisfied, but we shouldn’t exhaust ourselves on this alone. We need to figure out a way for each person to be able to earn a thousand or eight hundred dollars a day; that would be about right," Li Qing smiled and said.

Although he indeed had the air of ’new money’ about him now, the money that should be earned in a straightforward manner still needed to be sought after.

The income from selling Elixirs wasn’t yet ready to be revealed.

It was only because Lü Zong gave him face and set him up with a vice president title that he had any income to show openly.

"Let’s not talk about those uncertain things for now. Do you have any clue which women are involved in that sort of thing?" Li Qing asked, "I’ve only heard that it seems to be happening, but I don’t know the specifics."

"It looks like it started with Tang Rou, Xu Sanwang’s daughter-in-law, then there’s Kong Erjian’s wife, and..." Qin Wenjun listed seven or eight women in one breath, obviously having thoroughly investigated the issue beforehand.
