The Greatest Village Doctor In The World-Chapter 358 The Matter is Not Simple
Since Ling Feng had discovered them, he naturally wouldn’t venture further into the mountain. Thus, he took steps forward towards the direction of the tents.
Before he got close, a man emerged from inside, his face etched with wariness as he asked, "What do you want?"
"Nothing serious, I forgot to bring water when I entered the mountain and now I’m quite thirsty. Could I borrow some water to drink?" Ling Feng asked with a smile.
Despite the plausible excuse, the man’s gaze gradually turned icy, "Kid, you’d better not stir up trouble, just go away!"
"What do you mean by that? It’s just borrowing some water to drink, why are you so nervous?" Ling Feng asked with a look of confusion.
"You’re not here to hunt rabbits in the mountain, are you?" the man asked coldly.
No sooner had he finished speaking, three more people crawled out of the tent, all dressed in white and blending seamlessly with the surrounding environment.
Seeing the hostility in their eyes, Ling Feng couldn’t help but laugh, "I really am here to catch rabbits, but only those sneaky ones acting suspiciously!"
"Courting death!"
As soon as he said this, the group instantly understood his implication and charged at him together!
Ling Feng could tell by their footwork that these fellows all had some level of cultivation, reinforcing his belief that they certainly were no good people!
So when they lunged at him, he couldn’t help but smile slightly, "What? You want to kill someone to silence them?"
As his words fell, a cold gleam flashed in his palm, and the God Slayer Saber shone forth!
Upon seeing the saber, the pupils of the four men immediately constricted.
The leader snorted coldly, "So you’re no ordinary man!"
Saying so, his hand darted towards Ling Feng’s wrist, attempting to disarm him, while the three men behind him each drew daggers from their waists.
Catching sight of their actions, Ling Feng sneered, "No matter what you’re up to, the fact that you want to kill me means you all deserve to die!"
While speaking, he also employed the footsteps recorded in the saber technique, effortlessly dodging the man’s hand. In a flash of the blade, a bright red spray burst forth!
"Ah!"
The man let out a miserable cry, immediately clutching his wrist!
His palm had been severed by the saber’s edge and dropped to the ground, with blood spurting out violently!
In the blink of an eye, as the other three were still shocked, Ling Feng had already reached them, his eyes flashing with cruelty, "In your next life, before you try to kill someone, weigh whether your skills are up to par!"
"Pffft, pffft, pffft," the three men immediately collapsed to the ground, their blood staining a large swath of the white snow red!
Ling Feng stepped forward and lifted the tent flap for a look, only to find it empty and devoid of anyone else.
Turning back, he coldly asked the man whose palm was cut off, "You know why I didn’t kill you, right?"
"Who, who exactly are you?" the man asked, his face deathly pale and his eyes filled with terror.
"Catching rabbits, remember? Now you’ve been caught by me, so shouldn’t you hurry up and confess?" Ling Feng asked with a smile.
After a glance at the bodies of his comrades, the man bit his teeth, "Confess? Don’t even dream about it!"
No sooner had his words finished than his good hand flipped over, revealing a gleaming dagger, which he promptly and without hesitation plunged into his own chest!
"Thump!"
A gush of fresh blood spurted out, causing Ling Feng to frown deeply, "Was that really necessary?"
"Hmph, you, will never, get anything, from me," the man gasped out his fragmented last words before he died.
Ling Feng shook his head in resignation; what kind of people were these, to accept death so readily?
He searched inside the tent again, finding nothing but some extremely simple living supplies. Beyond that, there were no other items and no clues about the identities of these men.
Ling Feng had no choice but to search the bodies of the men outside once more.
Apart from an old-fashioned cellphone, he found nothing else.
The phone still had a password, and it was impossible to unlock.
With no other options, Ling Feng tossed several bodies into the tent, planning to have someone deal with them after everything was over.
He then turned and left, hurrying back to the car at top speed.
By this time, nearly two hours had elapsed, but Lin Xue and the others were still waiting patiently.
After getting into the car, Ling Feng took out the phone and asked, "Who knows how to unlock this thing?"
"Let me see!"
That was Du Song, who took the phone with an outstretched hand. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦
"Found anything?"
Seeing this, Lin Xue turned to Ling Feng and asked.
"Kind of. There were four people up in the mountains who set up a tent and were hiding out for some reason. They killed themselves before I could even ask why!" Ling Feng sighed.
"There’s such a thing?"
Lin Xue’s eyes widened in disbelief.
"Yeah, I’m speechless too. Life’s become so cheap, like those ancient family retainers who would die on command, just like that!" Ling Feng said with a wry smile.
With this remark, Lin Xue had a realization, "You’re right, their actions do resemble those of someone’s retainers!"
"Stop kidding, where in this world can you still find..."
Ling Feng didn’t finish his sentence, his eyes suddenly widening!
"Could it be..."
Suddenly, he remembered the Chu Family that Lin Xue had mentioned while they were in Wanshou County!
Weren’t they a hidden faction?
Felt by Ling Feng’s gaze, Lin Xue nodded, "As far as I know, the Chu Family does have such people who would sacrifice themselves for the family’s interests at a moment’s notice."
"The Chu Family is involved in this mess, and they even want to betray the nation?" Ling Feng’s brow furrowed.
Lin Xue shook her head, "You can’t really say that. There are more hidden factions in the world than just the Chu Family, and besides, we can’t yet be certain that these people are in cahoots with the Americans!"
Ling Feng thought about it and agreed; although their appearance was somewhat bizarre, there was no evidence yet to indicate what their objectives were.
So he nodded, "Alright, but whether it’s the Chu Family or not, if we discover that these people are with those foreigners, then things are serious!"
"I know," Lin Xue said, frowning.
At that moment, Du Song spoke up, "Boss, this phone’s password is too complex. If the number of failed attempts exceeds three, it will lock automatically. I need equipment to unlock it!"
Ling Feng turned back, "With the equipment, you can unlock it?"
"Exactly!"
"Good, then let’s find the equipment. There should be some clues inside this phone!" Ling Feng said with a nod.
Lin Xue turned the car around and quickly returned to the city center.
"Stop at the internet café up ahead, I just need a computer inside!" said Du Song.
Ling Feng checked the time, "How long will you need?"
"At best half an hour, but at worst..."
Before Du Song could finish, Ling Feng interrupted, "We don’t have much time, make it quick!"
"Got it!"
Watching him enter the internet café, Ling Feng pondered a moment and then took out his phone to call Li Yun.
The ringtone continued for nearly a minute before she finally picked up and asked, "What’s up?"
