The Greatest Village Doctor In The World-Chapter 1915 - 1914: Conversation
Linna glanced at Ling Feng but didn’t say anything because the waiter was there.
After helping to order the dishes and the waiter had left, she looked at Ling Feng: "What’s wrong? Mr. Ling doesn’t seem too excited about having dinner with me tonight?"
"Not really, it’s just that we’re not familiar with each other, so I’m a bit reserved!" Ling Feng said.
"Is that so!"
Linna thought for a moment, then snapped her fingers. A waiter who was waiting to provide service not far away came over: "What can I do for you, miss?"
"Bring a bottle of Lafite!" Linna said.
"Alright, please wait a moment!"
The waiter turned and left. Ling Feng asked, "What’s up? You feel like drinking?"
"Didn’t you say we’re not familiar with each other? Once we have a few drinks, we’ll have something to chat about!" Linna said.
Ling Feng was speechless, thinking to himself, are you still pretending to be clueless with me? Outwardly it’s cooperation, but don’t I know what you are planning to do?
Saying we don’t know each other well and have nothing to talk about is just an excuse. Ling Feng just thinks the more you speak, the more likely you’ll slip up, so there’s no need to chat much with her!
He smiled but said nothing. After a while, the waiter came over with a trolley.
A bottle of red wine, a decanter, a towel, and an ice bucket were all arranged neatly.
Ling Feng, who was quite experienced, knew that the Lafite brand was decent, and the taste was okay too, but compared to his own rice wine and apple wine, it still fell short.
Of course, showcasing his own wine at a time like this would be meaningless, so he didn’t say anything and just watched as the waiter opened the wine bottle and poured the dark red liquid into the decanter.
Ten minutes later, the appetizers were served, and the red wine was aerated.
Linna swirled the wine glass skillfully, looked at the legs of the wine, and then took a gentle sip, looked at Ling Feng: "It’s not bad, Mr. Ling, have a taste!"
Ling Feng smiled, picked up the glass, and took a sip: "Not bad, it tastes quite good!"
"As long as you like it!"
Linna tilted her head back and finished the wine in her glass, then poured herself another half glass.
Seeing this, Ling Feng also finished the wine in his glass.
Just like that, the two of them had two glasses in a row, and Linna’s cheeks turned rosy.
Seeing her like this, she actually looked better than before, and her gaze lost its previous sharpness. Ling Feng thought this was better, much more preferable than her serious demeanor!
Linna poured another glass and, before drinking, looked at Ling Feng: "There’s something I’m curious about, not sure if Mr. Ling can shed some light on it?"
"Go on, I’m listening!" Ling Feng said.
"Mr. Ling, two years ago, you were an obscure village doctor. How did you become a globally recognized figure in such a short time? How did you do it?" Linna asked.
Ling Feng chuckled upon hearing this and looked at her, saying: "You already know I was an unknown village doctor before. Didn’t you get a detailed understanding of what happened afterwards?"
"Gossip isn’t as reliable as hearing it from you personally, right? You’re not reluctant to share, are you?" Linna asked.
"Of course not!"
Ling Feng smiled and continued: "It’s just that my story is quite boring, nothing worth mentioning!"
Linna immediately pouted: "If your story is boring, then whose story in the world would be interesting? Seems like you don’t plan to consider me a friend!"
With that, she raised her glass and drank another cup by herself.
Ling Feng looked at her, speechless, thinking, you already know yet you’re still asking!
But he said, "Of course not, I really find my story dull. It’s just about fighting monsters, leveling up, treasure hunting, and championing justice!"
"Oh."
Linna’s face grew redder, and she nodded after hearing this. Because they were sitting face to face with a table between them, she leaned slightly forward and whispered to Ling Feng: "Actually, I completely support what you did before!"
Ling Feng was startled: "What thing?"
Linna sat back and gave him a look: "What could it be, of course, the incident in that African country!"
"Oh, you’re talking about that incident?"
Ling Feng smiled: "I believe that everyone with a sense of justice in the world would think I did nothing wrong!"
"Although it’s not fair to our soldiers, who were just following orders, wrong deeds must come with a price. There’s no compromise on that!" Linna said.
Ling Feng listened, looking into her eyes: "Did you really watch those videos?"
"Watched part of them, why?" Linna asked.
Ling Feng chuckled: "I don’t think you watched them. If you really had, you wouldn’t be saying that. Those soldiers weren’t following orders; they were mercilessly shooting civilians without an ounce of guilt. They laughed maniacally instead. They weren’t just executing orders; they were demons themselves!"
Linna: "...."
She was taken aback and shook her head: "Alright, let’s not talk about this. Mr. Ling, what do you think about the monster attacks?"
Seeing her change the topic, Ling Feng just smiled, and then said: "I don’t have much of an opinion. It’s said that the third attack is coming soon. When that time comes, I will destroy the largest monster underground, and afterwards, there won’t be any more invasion incidents!"
"Huh?"
Linna was surprised, her eyes wide: "Can you really eradicate the source of that monster?"
"Is that what you call it?"
Ling Feng smiled and asked, and then nodded: "Yes, I’m confident!"
"..."
Linna didn’t say anything, lowered her head in silence, then looked up at him: "If you really can, then I thank you in advance!"
"Why?"
Ling Feng was puzzled and asked curiously.
"You don’t know, during the last monster invasion, my parents were traveling in America. They didn’t manage to escape in time and were killed." Linna said with a gloomy face.
Ling Feng looked at her, seeing her expression didn’t seem staged, it should be real. So he quickly said: "Sorry for bringing up such a sad topic."
"It’s alright. If Mr. Ling plans to deal with that monster source and needs anything, I’m willing to help you!" Linna said.
"That won’t be necessary. I can handle it alone!"
Ling Feng shook his head and went on: "The whole world knows that the second monster invasion led to many innocent civilians’ tragic deaths. Yet, afterward, not only did the governments of various countries not reflect on their issues, they turned around and blamed Huaxia, attributing the monster origin to our country. This made me lose a favorable impression of many Western countries!"
Linna let out a bitter laugh: "I know, and I understand the reasons behind it. Their accusations actually stem from a deep-seated fear because your country is getting stronger and stronger!"
Ling Feng was somewhat surprised. He didn’t expect her to have such a clear view of the underlying context, so he nodded and smiled: "You’re absolutely right, cheers!"
