THE GOD EATER-Chapter 376: One Crown.
When the meteor struck the ground, the hot and pressurized air around the meteor was the least of the black star’s problems. Instead, all of the energy that the hammer possessed after falling from the limit of the sky became its most difficult problem to deal with.
All of the energy that the hammer possessed was forcefully injected into the ground when the hammer made contact with the ground. The ground couldn’t handle all of the energy and was quickly overwhelmed.
The ground was shattered by the immense mechanical energy, and the shattered part was melted by the immense heat energy. Then the pressurized air was infused into this melted part to cause a massive explosion that vaporized nearly everything in the vicinity.
The explosion was as if the mountain was erupting again. It didn’t help that there was lava nearby, which was also thrown up by the explosion.
All of that heat and energy created a short-lived yellow dwarf of a star that was more powerful than the black star. In fact, the yellow dwarf had appeared within the black star and its domain, so it looked as if the black star had exploded from within to reveal a bright and fiery inner core.
When the explosion of the meteor crash died down and the dust and smoke died down, it was revealed that the battlefield had disappeared. What should have been an area of flat ground had turned into a large spherical pit.
The black star and its creator were nowhere in sight. There was only the hammer and its wielder standing above the pit, and a large golden crown at the bottom of the pit.
When the rank 5 forger saw this large golden crown, she said, "Impressive. This crown has to be incredible for it to survive a blow like that. Even a world guardian hadn’t survived it."
She was truly impressed with the crown and was marveling at it. As she was looking at this golden crown that had survived the fall of a meteor when a world guardian couldn’t, she suddenly realized something.
What she realized made the way she looked at the golden crown change. She stopped being jovial about the crown and immediately became serious.
She looked at the crown again and asked solemnly, "Could it be..."
Before she could finish that question, starlight fell on her, and the world changed in ways that were difficult to tell. Everything around her became a blur, and her eyes couldn’t focus on one thing.
Anytime she tried to focus on one thing, three copies of it would appear in her sight. One copy each for the right and left of the main object. This also made it difficult for her to gauge depth.
She looked up at the source of the starlight and snorted in disdain. She was sure that she could kill the seer with one hit and wanted to do just that. But just as she raised her hammer to throw it, she saw a shadowy figure enter the crater and approach the golden crown.
The shadowy figure was obscure in the first place and difficult to notice, but the blurry effect that the starlight had inflicted on the world made it more difficult to tell if there was really a moving shadow or if she was mistaken.
This made her say, "So it is truly what I thought it was. Or why would the seer try to distract me while the deceiver is trying to get the crown?"
She snorted and said, "Why would a seer and a deceiver work on anything? They can only work together for a benefit, which means that the golden crown is beneficial."
As she said this, she threw her hammer at the shadowy figure below. She targeted the shadowy figure at the center among the three that she saw.
The hammer pressed down with the power of gravity, so the shadowy figure had been rendered immobile before her heavy hammer smashed into it.
The heavy hammer crushed the shadowy figure to pieces. So the shadowy figure disappeared in her vision. This made it so that the two fake copies of the shadowy figure also disappeared.
But then, five more shadowy figures entered the pit and raced to the bottom to grab the golden core. Of course, to her, there were at least 15 shadowy figures, and their position and appearance were shimmering in her vision because of the effect of the starlight.
This shimmering made it appear that there were more than 15 shadowy figures. So she couldn’t really tell how many shadowy figures she was truly seeing.
All she could tell was that the shadowy figures were all going for the golden crown. So instead of fighting them in an attempt to stop them from getting the golden crown, she decided to grab the golden crown for herself.
With this decision made, she swooped down from the sky. Her position was in a straight line towards the golden crown and right above it. But the distance between her and the golden crown was long, so she was bound to reach it late.
In order to stop the shadowy figures from reaching the golden crown before her, she made her hammer rise to a position that was ten meters above the golden crown. Then she made the hammer increase the gravity in the area under the hammer in a wide cone of influence.
This set of actions worked because the increase in gravity slowed down the shadowy figures. It didn’t matter how many of them there were. They all became slower after entering the cone of gravitational influence under the hammer.
However, the influence of gravity didn’t have any effect on her. This allowed her to reach the golden crown first.
She grabbed the golden crown and raised it into the air in jubilation and said, "I won."
Then she looked around with a smile and said, "Let me see you try to get this out of my hand."
