THE FORGOTTEN HEIRESS-Chapter 87: The President of Idle Women Association
Benita raised her hands to touch Steffan’s arms which he promptly recoiled from, to Benita’s chagrin
She still maintained her plastered smile as she complained, "Your fangs are too spiky, darling. I am a visitor here and deserve to be taken care of."
Steffan’s expression was as dark as the bottom of a charred pot as he retorted,
"If you need someone to wait on you, there are countless servants in the house. You can choose from anyone of them but definitely not me."
The air around them was a huge contrast to the lively and colorful atmosphere in other parts of the garden.
"But I want you to serve me," Benita batted her eyes at Steffan’in what she assumed would without fail attract his sympathy.
She had been raised with the belief that women were to be doted on and not ignored and has always been pampered with everyone and everything at her beck and call.
She believed she deserved to be treated like a queen, not to mention her intimidating family background of being the only child of a top government official in the country.
Even her daily dresses, shoes and other accessories were selected and designed by top brands and professionals in the field of fashion.
All she had to do was sleep, wake, eat, party and occasionally, accompany her mother to overeee their private businesses.
’How did I ever offend you, mom, that made you punish me with this terrible burden?’ Steffan lamented inwardly.
If there was a set of people he hated in life, it was idle people, to be precise, idle women.
They are always and constantly causing trouble here and there because they have nothing serious to do, of which Benita happens to be at the top of the list.
Just for the sole purpose of cementing a relationship that he had no inkling of how it started, he had been unjustly matched with The President of "Idle Women Association."
Who would marry such a woman with his eyes wide open. He was sure even his dead body would not consent to such a marriage if he were to be dead. It will just wake up and flee from the grave.
He didn’t know how long he was going to keep up with this but at this moment, he couldn’t stand Benita’s pestering anymore and strolled off leaving her standing by herself.
"You can’t leave me standing here all alone," Benita whined, attempting to stop Steffan but he paid a deaf ear to her. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
As soon as he walked away, her expression changed and she stamped her feet in anger.
’What does he think he is, if not that you are so handsome and I can’t resist your charm, why will I condescend so low as to take all those insults from you?’
’I’ve been waiting for you all these years, yet you’re still playing hard to get when countless men are waiting for a snap of my fingers to fall at my feet in humble adoration.’
"Wait until I get you. I will so wrap your around my fingers that even my fart will be a perfume you will never want to stay away from."
Just then, Mrs Sarah Rosse, Steffan’s mother walked up to her and saw her in such a state. "Why are you so upset my dear. Weren’t you with Steffan just now."
Benita found somewhere to let off the steam in her mind and wasted no time in venting it all out. "He doesn’t want to be with me. I think he hates me, Aunt."
Mrs Rosse knew without being told who the "he" she was referring to meant. She was also sure he was the one responsible for her current state.
"What made you say so? Stefan doesn’t hate you. It’s just that he doesn’t know how to appreciate a woman since he has never been in love," she coaxed patiently.
After seriously considering Mrs Rosse’s words, Benita’s mood improved.
The fact that he has never been in love with anyone was what endeared him to her. She wanted to be the first and only woman he would love for the rest of his life.
Luckily she has not seen or heard of any woman around him that could be considered a threat, so she was confident that one day he will be hers, but her only worry was when?
Before, he would not complain when spending time with her and would even indulge her in some things but these two days, he seems to even loathe her presence wanting to have nothing to do with her.
"But he is taking so long to respond to me, Aunt."
"That is why you have to do all that it takes to make him fall in love with you."
Seeing the uncertainty in her eyes, Mrs Rosse frowned in disappointment. "I can’t believe you’ve given up so soon. If you can be so easily defeated then you are not worthy of being my daughter in-law," she challenged further.
"Rising to the challenge, Benita declared, "I haven’t given up Aunt. Steffan can only be mine."
"Very good. That’s the spirit. Don’t ever lose focus. He can only be yours in this life. And I promise to give you every support that you will need."
"Thanks Auntie. You are the best."
Taking Benita’s hand in hers, Mrs Rosse said, "I know. Now let’s go and get something for my lovely daughter in-law to eat."
Ok Aunt," Benita lowered her head in a shy smile and slipped a hand through Mrs Rosse’s arms.
This was the first time Mrs Rosse had called her so affectionately and it felt good hearing Mrs Rosse refer to her as her daughter in-law.
She allowed herself to be led away, indulging in the warmth she received from Mrs Rosse."
Meanwhile Steffan was just wondering around the garden and thinking of how to deal with his mother and Benita when he caught sight iof a slightly familiar figure.
He stopped in his tract to make sure it was the same boy that he had seen at the mall yesterday.
