THE FORGOTTEN HEIRESS-Chapter 80: What Do You Want From Me?
With a wave of the hand Stacy said, "Alright, I’ll leave you guys to go at your own pace, but remember time is not on your side."
"Are we still going Grandma, it’s already getting late." Elvis demanded.
"You are going out?" Cheryl asked.
"My friend’s birthday party is tomorrow and grandma is taking us shopping to pick a gift for her." Eleanor explained with enthusiasm.
"If you don’t mind, you can accompany us to the mall since Janice is not around." Stacy offered.
"I don’t mind at all. That way, I can help the children pick a gift."
As they got to the door, they saw a man struggling with a gigantic package, blocking their way.
Seeing that they had stopped moving, Stacy asked, "What’s going on? Why is no one moving?"
She peered over Cheryl’s head and a slight frown appeared on her face. "Who is he?"
"Oh, that’s my driver bringing in the gift I got for Eleanor."
"That’s my gift?" cried Eleanor, "Wow! It’s huge"
"Yeah. Wait till you see what’s inside."
"I can’t wait to open it. Please grandma. Can I take a peek? Pleassssssse."
"Go ahead, princess. We will wait for you."
Elvis was also curious to see what was inside such a huge pack and turned back with Eleanor to unwrap the gift.
Eleanor was over the moon when she saw the huge teddy bear.
It was way taller and bigger than Eleanor, nevertheless, she hugged the teddy bear to herself, her two little hands could barely go around it.
Elvis was also impressed by the size of the teddy and touched it.
"Thanks Aunty Cheryl, I Iove my gift very much." Eleanor was beaming with smiles as she took Cheryl’s hands leading her towards the door.
"Wait, I haven’t given your brother his own gift," Cheryl said and dipped her hand into her handbag. "Here, this is for you, Mr genius."
"Come on, open it brother," urged Eleanor.
Elvis carefully removed the last seal and revealed the gift. It was a high end smart wrist watch with call and camera functions.
The corner of his mouth lifted slightly in a smile. "Thanks Aunt Cheryl."
"You’re welcome. We can now go to the mall."
"Mrs Carr, please move the gift to Eleanor’s room," Stacy instructed.
It was the weekend so the shopping mall was packed full with shoppers.
They took the elevator to the children’s section on the fourth floor.
At the same time, in a special ward in Medstar Hospital, Kathleen stood by Spider’s bed,
After undergoing two weeks of intensive therapy, Spider’s hearing has been restored and he could hear, although he still felt pains occasionally, he was much better. Other parts of his body were also recovering fast and he could take a few steps around the room.
"Has she contacted you since the accident?" 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
"Who?" Spider asked, feigning ignorance.
"Let me sound one final note of warning," Kathleen’s voice turned cold and impatient.
"It will be in your best interest to dispel any freaking idea you have about playing games with me, because you won’t be able to afford the consequences."
"And for starters, I never spare my enemies, especially the one that was bent on killing me in broad daylight."
"I know Mrs Beazell was the one who sent you to kill me." Kathleen announced like she was giving a weather report.
Spider shuddered unconsciously. ’Who exactly is this woman?’ He was sure he hadn’t said anything to lead them to Mrs Beazell.
"What do you want from me?" Spider finally asked.
"What makes you think I would want anything from you? I could get whatever I want done with or without you."
In as much as he avoided looking into her eyes, Spider was still drawn in by a force he has not been able to comprehend ever since the first time he saw them in the bar.
Right now, there was a chilling and compelling aura as he looked into them, and he ended up losing his rationality.
"She hasn’t called me yet. My phone was damaged in the accident. I’m sure she must have been trying to reach me," Spider spurted out in quick succession.
After he finished speaking, he became angry with himself for succumbing so easily but he couldn’t help it.
Kathleen dipped her hands in her handbag and brought out a new phone.
"Here, you will call her and let her know that you are still alive."
"But I don’t have her number," Spider said, making no attempt to collect the phone from Kathleen.
"I’ve entered her number in your contact."
"She is ruthless and will do anything to eliminate me once she finds out I’m still alive."
"Why? Are you not her right hand man?" The mockery in Kathleen’s tone was obvious.
"She wouldn’t believe I haven’t snitched on her and would not hesitate to silence me."
Kathleen smirked, "Are you scared? I didn’t expect you to be so chicken hearted considering your past escapades."
"I admit I did terrible things in the past and thought I was invincible, but after Drake died, everything changed."
"Really," Kathleen’s face scrunched up in a grimace. "So what happened to change that?"
"You happened. I’m yet to wrap my head around why you haven’t turned me in. You could have left me to die a miserable death rather, you gave me the best treatment and even cured my hearing."
Meanwhile at the mall, Eleanor was finding it difficult deciding on the gift to get for her friend.
Elvis had long settled for a top brand Kids selfie camera.
While waiting for Eleanor to make up her mind, he wandered around in the mall, checking out some Lego games but found out they were way too simple compared to the set uncle Jason got for them.
There was nothing interesting enough to catch his fancy so he decided to return back to where Eleanor and the rest were.
He was focused on admiring his new wrist watch when he bumped into a hard figure, he raised his head and prepared to apologize knowing he was the one at fault.
