THE FORGOTTEN HEIRESS-Chapter 334: I Want To Know About Us
Oblivious to the intimate scene unfolding ahead of him, a customer approached the restroom but suddenly stopped on witnessing the two people engulfed in the throes of passion in the corridor.
"Eh- hem," he cleared his throat as things started to get more intense.
Steffan and Lauren heard someone clearing his throat from their subconscious, causing them to break the kiss abruptly.
Their faces were flushed with embarrassment as they tried to compose themselves after seeing the person staring at them with an understanding look.
As soon as the person walked past them and stepped into the restroom, Lauren took off as if she had nothing to do with the dazed Steffan.
"Wait." Steffan sighed, running a hand through his hair in exasperation when Lauren continued as if she hadn’t heard him.
If there was anything that kiss did to him afterward apart from the deep longing it left him with, it had also left him more confused about the true relationship he had with Lauren.
She was the first and only woman that could take advantage of him to the extent of leaving him panting after her even when he had nothing to do with her.
Thus there were many questions in his heart, causing that throbbing ache in his head to resurface. But maybe because he was prepared this time, he did not completely break down like the previous time.
He hurried after her and because his legs were longer than hers, he was able to catch up with her before she got to where they were dining.
Seizing her elbow, he turned her around to face him but because of the force he used, Lauren staggered a bit but was stabilized by Steffan’s second arm which reached out to hold her.
"Don’t you think we need to talk?" He asked, staring into her eyes.
After steadying herself, Lauren wriggled out of his arms. "I don’t think so," she stubbornly replied as she met Steffan’s gaze unflinchingly.
’Of all the things to forget about, how dare you forget about us? I will torture you to the extent that you will have no choice but to force back the memory of our past into that brain of yours.’
’In the past I did the chasing, but this time around, you’re the one that will chase me. And I’ll surely give you a hard time before you can catch me.’
"It’s not possible you blanked out while I’m still talking to you?" Steffan’s complaint cut through Lauren’s train of thoughts.
If only he knew what she was thinking about, he wouldn’t be bothering himself with unnecessary things.
"What were you saying?" Lauren asked
Steffan: "..."
’So she truly didn’t hear what I said?’ He was speechless and didn’t know what to do with the unpredictable woman before him who had left him feeling the way he had never felt with any woman.
"What were you thinking of just now?"
"You were not part of my thoughts, so it’s none of your business," Lauren lied and finally looked away.
"I guess you were thinking of how you would face and probably explain to that gigolo how you were lost in a passionate kiss with another man."
Lauren pretended to be angry as she retorted. "George is not a gigolo for your information. He is one of the best men I’ve ever seen in the whole world."
"Best man indeed, I bet you would easily cheat on him without a second thought," Steffan sneered.
"You’re free to think whatever you want," Lauren said nonchalantly. All of a sudden, she tilted her head to the side, donning a thoughtful expression which was immediately replaced by a frown.
"But why do I feel that you are jealous? It’s not possible you are already feeling inferior due to George’s good looks, right?"
"Come to think of it, should you even be jealous of another man when you have your own lover which you have refused to acknowledge?"
Steffan didn’t bother to deny his involvement with Dolly again. It was a total waste of time since Lauren was bent on believing that Dolly was his girlfriend.
"If you’ll excuse me, I have someone waiting for me," he heard her say.
Steffan quickly moved from where he was standing and stood in front of Lauren.
"I’m not done with you yet. You can’t leave."
"What do you want?" Lauren snapped impatiently as if she couldn’t wait to get away from him.
"I want to know about us," Steffan blurted out unable to control the endless questions in his head.
He had always prided himself with his high level of self control, but with Lauren everything seemed to dissolve whenever he was around her. The more he wanted to have nothing to do with her, the more it felt like there was a string that kept pulling him to her.
"We know each other’s names. You know that we both love the same game, and that I have a good relationship with your parents. What else is there to know about each other other than that?"
"I know there’s much more. I want to know everything, Lauren," Steffan said in an agonizing voice. He knew Lauren understood what he was talking about.
He wanted to know why whenever he was around her, he felt she was not a stranger. Just now while they kissed, it felt so natural and familiar. He wanted to know the depth of their acquaintance, he could tell they shared a deep connection that he couldn’t put his hands on yet.
Lauren felt sad seeing Steffan suffering the way he was but she wasn’t going to be too soft minded and allow him suffer another crises.
The first one had made that shameless Dolly have access to him and interfere with his family, she was not going to make the same mistakes again. She had to take her time and play her cards very well this time around.
"I’ll check my schedule and see if I’m free within the next month and arrange for us to meet," she said without a hint of the emotions she felt at the moment.
"And what’s the meaning of that?" Steffan snapped. "You can’t be so busy that you can’t fix an appointment within the next three days."
"If you can’t wait, then it’s none of my business. After all, not everyone has an inheritance to fall back to even if we chose not to work our ass off for a year," Lauren retorted and sauntered off, making sure that her perky waist swayed provocatively.
This time around, Steffan didn’t go after her, but slowly walked back in silence..
When he finally got to the hall, he saw Lauren smiling disarmingly at the man she was with and not long after, he saw George stand up from his seat and went over to move Lauren’s seat for her to stand, acring like the proper gentleman.
His eyes hardened and narrowed into slits as he watched them walk out, holding hands like two people in love as they exited the building.
She is definitely shameless. One minute she was kissing him and the next minute she was showing affection to another man.
How did I ever allow myself to have anything to do with such a loose woman in the past?
"Is everything alright, Steffan?" Dolly asked with concern.
