Chapter 297: Let’s Sneak Away!

"What are you doing, Mom?" He hissed through gritted teeth.

He couldn’t believe that his mom would choose this moment to crash in on his special meal.

It would take someone in his shoes to fully understand the amount of self control he had to put in all evening to resist the urge he had been feeling to pull Kathleen from the crowd and get lost in her sensuous charms.

Joanne couldn’t be bothered with him as she took hold of Kathleen’s leg and started begging.

"Please forgive me Kathleen. I know I’ve been the worst mother-in-law to you. And I also know you don’t want to ever have anything to do with me. But I’m truly sorry for everything- for the way I mistreated you and even sided with the enemy to make your life miserable."

"Wonders shall never end. Isn’t that Mrs Joanne Hudson? What could have happened to make her this humble?"

"Who told you she is humble? I guess she is doing all these because she just found out about Ms Janice’s new identity," sneered another woman.

"You might be right." The first lady agreed. "It is quite impossible for Joanne to admit her mistake, and that openly. It is clearly an act."

Joanne boiled with fury but before she could say anything, another voice beat her to it.

"Shut up all of you. Whether it’s an act or not, it’s not for you to judge. The person that has the final say here is Janice, my daughter."

Joanne turned her head to stare at Stacy, her expressions alternating between disbelief and gratitude.

Kathleen frowned slightly. "Get up Joanne. You are embarrassing everyone," she said from where she was held possessively in Shawn’s arms.

"I don’t care about my reputation any longer. And as for embarrassing you, I’m very sorry, but I don’t have any other choice. Give me whatever punishment you deem fit, I’ll serve it. All I want is your forgiveness, please," she pleaded passionately.

"If you want my forgiveness, you have to stand up first," Kathleen insisted.

"Will you really forgive me if I stood up?" Joanne asked doubtfully.

"My mom has asked you to stand, obey her first, grandma," a sweet innocent voice said.

Joanne turned and stared at the little angel who had just spoken.

Breaking into a sob, Joanne said to Eleanor while still clinging to Kathleen’s legs. "Sweetheart, you are really my granddaughter?"

"Mm-hmm, grandma and this is my brother Elvis," Eleanor introduced charmingly.

Ever since the day she met her at the hospital, she had never forgotten about the little girl and had longed to see her again, but she had not been lucky.

Who would have thought that she turned out to be her own granddaughter. Not only did she suddenly have an adorable granddaughter but also a grandson who was the splitting image of her son, Shawn.

"Now will you obey my mom?" Elvis joined in, but instead of the cute tone in which his sister had spoke, his, sounded more like an order.

There was no difference between Shawn coaxing her and this little grandson of hers.

"Oh my!" groaned Joanne in her heart, as her gaze alternated between Shawn and her equally handsome grandson. "I have to deal with two of them now, poor me. But why do I feel so happy about it? I think I even love it."

Kathleen looked from one child to the other and then to Joanne, and decided to end the whole drama.

From her knowledge of Joanne’s character, Kathleen could confidently say that she has changed, considering her persistence these past few weeks as Joanne wasn’t someone who would pretend over anything.

If she didn’t want to do anything she doesn’t force herself no matter who was involved.

’Moreover, I also have her where I want— wrapped around my fingers and in total awe of me, so it wouldn’t be too bad if I choose to forgive her at this moment.’

With a feigned serious expression, she turned to Joanne who was still on her knees and said,

"Your punishment will be that you will be in charge of taking the children to and picking them up from school for one whole month. If you think you can handle that, then you are forgiven."

Joanne’s eyes widened in disbelief. "Did I hear what you just said or am I hallucinating?"

"No, you are not. I forgive you, Joanne, but this is your one and only chance. So cherish it," Kathleen warned.

"Am I mad? Of course I will cherish it and to start on a fresh note, can I call you Janice, just like your mom?"

"Suit yourself," Kathleen said nonchalantly.

"Now can you allow me to finally thank my wife?" Shawn smirked.

And by "thank," everyone knew what he meant and supported it hundred percent.

And before anyone could say anything, not that he was ready to listen to anyone, Kathleen’s lips were claimed in a passionate kiss that sent her straight to third heavens.

"Ewwww!" Eleanor exclaimed almost at the same time as her brother’s "Gross!"

Elvis placed his little palm over his sister’s face which barely covered anything and with the second palm covered his own eyes, eliciting a bout of laughter from the guest.

——— Two months later ———

"I love you Kathleen," Shawn said as he stared into Kathleen’s enchantingly beautiful eyes.

Drunk in Shawn’s smoldering gaze, Kathleen mouthed. "I love you too Shawn. I always have."

As they danced to the soft music, Shawn pressed Kathleen tightly against his body. Feeling the huge bulge pressed against her, her breath caught in her throat as a hot sensation coursed through her entire body.

"I don’t think I can stand it any longer," Shawn whispered sensuously against her ear.

Kathleen’s breath quickened inexplicably at the passion in Shawn’s voice. "Me too," she confessed and blushed almost immediately.

’What has gotten into me? I don’t seem to have enough of Shawn.’

Her mouth creased in a smile when she remembered how she still sneaked out to Shawn’s apartment last night and only came back very early this morning as her mother had insisted that she must leave to the wedding venue from her parents house.

"But we still have a long while before the reception will be over," she heard Shawn grumble helplessly.

"I think I have an idea," she said, a mischievous glint dancing in her purple orbs, making Shawn more uncomfortable.

"Let’s sneak away!"

Shawn’s eyebrows shot up in surprise.

"Sneak away? But the reception is in full swing."

"Exactly. That way, it’ll be even more exciting and we’ll be back before they know it."

Shawn’s eyes sparkled with excitement as he considered her suggestion.

"You could slip out to receive a call while getting a drink and I’ll go visit the restroom at the penthouse," Kathleen strategized.

Shawn glanced around the bustling room, then back at Kathleen with a grin.

"I love it. Let’s do it," he said and winked at Kathleen, revealing a boyish charm Kathleen didn’t know he possessed.

"Why didn’t I know you were this bad, babe?"

"I’ll only be bad for you, handsome," Kathleen said and squeezed Shawn’s hands, her heart fluttering in anticipation of the wonderful days ahead of them.
