Chapter 132: Do You Love Him?

He heard Kathleen say, "I did what I had to do as a doctor. Moreover I couldn’t stand by and watch something bad happen to Nana. She is a good person."

"Yeah, she is," Shawn agreed, his smoldering gaze never leaving Kathleen’s bewitching face.

The atmosphere was warm and comfortable, he wished they would always remain like that forever.

"How is it going between you and the Beazells?"

Ever since he got to know of the murder attempt, he has not been idle. He got the best bloggers to continue to instigate the public against the Beazell Group which had also made their company lose most of its investors.

No matter how hard the hacker he learnt the Beazell Group hired tried to pull down the news, he ensured that the story stayed refreshed every hour.

Although he couldn’t do much until she was legally proven to be guilty, he also kept to his words by ensuring that Mrs Beazell’s special privileges were withdrawn in the cell while patiently waiting for the day she will be sent to jail to implement the full phase of his plan for revenge.

Kathleen’s gaze took in the indecipherable look in Shawn’s eyes.

If he had asked that question before the incident at the hospital, she would have thought he wanted to get information from her in order to help the Beazell family.

But when she recalled that his anger had been directed towards Spider because he tried to harm her, she decided to give him a reply.

"The hearing is tomorrow," she said blandly.

The reply was not news to Shawn since he has been following up the story.

"I read that on the news. I can get you one of the best lawyers around," he offered.

"Thanks but there will be no need for that. I already arranged that."

He just nodded sadly as he saw that Kathleen was again drawing the curtain to shut him out.

Wasn’t he considered a fool? Of course President Jason was there to help her arrange everything even though he was not in the country.

With the backing of the Wyatt’s she didn’t need to lift a finger to get all the help she needed. So why would she need him when she had the Wyatts?

He studied her appearance and she didn’t look like someone who was going through any challenge. She looked peaceful and content, a far cry from what was going on in his own life.

"Do you love him? he suddenly blurted.

Kathleen was taken aback. Who is he referring to?

She looked away from Old Mrs Hudson who was still sleeping sounded and saw a frosty face staring intently at her.

Before she could ask who he was referring to, Shawn’s gravely supplied the answer.

"President Jason. Do you love him?"

"Oh, of course I do." Kathleen did not think twice before giving her answer which appeared to have been permanently positioned at the tip of her tongue.

If she doesn’t love her brother, who else would she love? She wasn’t bothered about how Shawn interpreted her response . It mattered nothing to her.

Her reply did not fail to deal the fatal blow it set out for.

As she stared back at Shawn, his jealousy was knee deep and overflowed through every pores of his skin.

She saw the knuckles of his hand turn white as he consciously forced himself to swallow down his frustration, only his firm control kept him from exploding.

"Whatever you do, just remember you are still married to me, and it’s till death do us part," Shawn stated with an air of finality.

"That’s not for you to decide," Kathleen retorted as she reached out to check old Mrs Hudson’s pulse.

All the retaliatory words Shawn prepared to shoot back were swallowed back when he saw Kathleen gently checking his grandmother’s pulse rate.

How is she so warm to others and at the same time an iceberg when it comes to him?

It doesn’t matter if one of the persons she gave her warmth to was his grandmother he was still jealous seeing this injustice.

Not knowing that she had unconsciously averted a raging storm by her calm action, Kathleen nodded in satisfaction; Her pulse rate was within her expectations and at this rate, she should be on her feet before the end of this month.

She gathered her bag as she got ready to leave, "I will be on my way now."

"Kathleen," Shawn called softly. "Can we talk?" Her action of checking on his grandmother despite her seemingly angered mood touched his heart.

"What do you want to talk about, because I have nothing to say to you?"

"Can we talk in my room?" he offered, ignoring the iciness in her tone.

Kathleen’s brows bumped together as her guard instantly shot up. "Your room? Why there?"

Shawn raised his two hands in mock surrender, "Alright, choose the location. I’m OK with anywhere you want us to use as long as you are willing to talk to me."

"Let’s talk beside my car," she proposed. At least it was safe enough there and she doesn’t believe Shawn would take advantage of her in the open. But considering his shameless behavior in the past, she wasn’t too sure either. But it was still better than bringing herself to be slaughtered in his room.

They left the room together to the envious eyes of the two nurses and the nutritionist that have been taking care of Old Mrs Hudson.

"What can I do to make you forgive me and have me back?" Shawn asked the moment they got to where Kathleen’s car was parked.

She had parked under a small shade which shielded them from the hot morning sun.

"Are you sure that you will do whatever I say?"

"Mm-hmm," Shawn nodded.

"Stay away from me." Kathleen demanded, which Shawn instantly refused.

"But you know that is impossible," he said. "I will die if I don’t have you in my life."
