THE FORGOTTEN HEIRESS-Chapter 121: Discovering Purpose And Living It
"Nice to meet you, Mr and Mrs Rosse, I’m Dr Janice," Kathleen said as she shook Stanley’s hand.
Candace’s eyes widened in shock. She didn’t expect she would be meeting with the renowned Dr Janice and her prankster husband didn’t even mention that to her at home. ’I’ll definitely settle the scores with him when we get home,’ she said within herself.
However, on the surface, her shocked expression was quickly replaced with a smile and her eyes were sparkling with excitement as she stood to hold Kathleen’s hand that was stretched out to her.
"I’m most delighted to meet you, Dr Janice. I’ve heard so much about you."
"Hope they are not scary things," Kathleen joked, her eyes twinkling in a smile. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
Candace couldn’t look away from her enchanting face. They were peerlessly beautiful.
The more she looked at her, the more she fell in love with the idea forming in her mind and she couldn’t wait to see Steffan.
"Hope everything is alright?" Kathleen frowned in confusion.
"Yes, yes, everything is fine," she adjusted herself with an apologetic smile. "It is just that you are so beautiful."
Kathleen and Stanley Rosse were both speechless. They never expected she would be so blunt and they stared at her with interest.
"Thank you," smiled Kathleen. "You are also exceptionally beautiful, Mrs Rosse," she complimented in return. Not out of courtesy but in all sincerity.
Mrs Rosse looked very charming and elegant in the wide lapelled customized blue skirt suit she was wearing.
Although she was seated, her slender curves could still be seen outlined by the perfect fitting suit.
And most importantly, she had a peaceful temperament that could easily endear her to anyone.
Stanley on one hand had never heard Candace outright admit that any woman was more beautiful than her. What was even more frightening was that she was almost at the point of drooling if Dr Janice had not interrupted her.
Totally oblivious of her husband’s discomfort, Candace went further in her escapades. "If it is not too much to ask, I would prefer you called me Candace?"
From under the table, Stanley pinched his wife. ’What’s with her today? Next she will be asking for permission to call the lady by her first name.’
Noticing the fleeting change in Mrs Rosse’s expression, Kathleen guessed what might have transpired under the table so she readily agreed to the request.
"Of course, Candace." Kathleen’s cheerful smile restored the warmth in their little group. She had no problem agreeing to the request.
Stanley Rosse signaled for a waiter who came forward. "What would you like to have Dr Janice,"
"A cup of green tea would do. I already had breakfast this morning," Kathleen replied.
After taking their order, the waiter excused himself from their table.
"Thank you for making time to see us. I know you are an extremely busy person, yet you made this sacrifice," Stanley broached the subject of their meeting.
"Yes, thank you Dr Janice, we really do appreciate your presence," added Candace, her tone full of excitement.
"No need to be so formal, I think we already have a connection. Just as you asked me to call you Candace, can I also make a similar request?"
"Really?" Candace’s sparkling smile was a dazzling display of her joy. ’This feels so surreal,’ she yelled inwardly.
"Mm-hmm," Kathleen nodded in confirmation. "You can call me Janice."
"Since we are on a first name basis, how about I go by just Stanley also," Mr Rosse jokingly asked.
"That is Fine with me. But don’t forget you are the President of a huge company, so we need to treat you with respect," teased Kathleen.
"Although he is a President, he is simple and easy to get along with," Candace praised while giving her husband an affectionate look.
"When I left home this morning I had no idea the person we were going to meet would turn out to be the renowned Dr Janice."
"And until this very minute I still can’t understand why you would be interested in our small foundation."
The waiter arrived with their order, after he had left, Kathleen relaxed back in her chair after taking her tea.
"I’ve read so much about Living Hope Foundation and I must confess you have done a great job in the lives of those women and children.
A beautiful blush spread over Candace’s face. "Coming from a renowned figure like you, I must say I am deeply flattered."
Kathleen’s lips spasmed in a smile. "It’s no flattery, Candace. Do you know what I admire most in a woman, or people in general?"
"I would love to know," Candace replied with enthusiasm.
"The ability to discover purpose and then living that purpose," Kathleen stated.
"And for you, I’ve seen that Living Hope Foundation is your purpose and you are living it to the fullest."
"There is no one that will see what you are doing and not see a selfless, dedicated and resilient woman who wants nothing more than to touch and affect her generation, which is something we both have in common."
Candace was deeply moved by Kathleen’s words which perfectly captured the very essence of her existence. Apart from her loving family, she found joy in nothing more than the foundation.
"That is why when I met your husband a few weeks back and he told me about the foundation, I knew it was a call for me to reach out to a different set of people outside my normal circle."
"There are different aspects of the foundation, but I don’t know the specific area or areas where you would love to come in," Candace asked.
Kathleen could see the anticipation in Candace’s eyes as she listened with rapt attention to her every word..
"Well since I’m in the medical line, I was looking at giving my support in the medical angle."
"Okay?" Candace urged. Finding it difficult to believe what she was hearing. It was too good to be true.
