Chapter 116: Kathleen Is My Wife.

There was no need to hide their relationship. As a matter of fact, he felt it was best Dr Sullivan knew about the relationship he shared with Kathleen. That way, he will immediately stop any designs he may have had on Kathleen.

He has been seeing the obsessive look doctor Sullivan had on his face each time he looked at Kathleen, although he wouldn’t say it was that of a man lusting after a woman but it was still safe to ward off any potential dangers in the future.

"You know Doctor," started Shawn as he crossed his long legs elegantly over each other.

"People have always wondered why there hasn’t been any woman around me for so many years which I am a hundred percent sure at some point you also did."

Although Shawn wasn’t expecting Doctor Sullivan to give him any response, he still made a wild guess.

"It is because of Dr Janice." It sounded more like a question than a statement.

The corners of Shawn’s lips spasmed in a smile. From his countenance, Doctor Sulivan knew he had guessed correctly.

"The relationship between Kathleen and I is a very special one."

"You may have seen us argue several times and it may even appear that we hardly get along with each other, but deep down, we share something unique and beautiful, an unbreakable bond that is everlasting."

There was a soft glow in Shawn’s eyes as he spoke. And the more he spoke, the more awestruck Doctor Sullivan got.

His deep affection was reflected in the peaceful expression on his face and in every single word that came out of his mouth.

This particular version of President Hudson was a far cry from the arrogant and overbearing President he presented for everyone to see.

The version also looked harmless and easy to get along with. In other words, he was more humane.

Love is surely a powerful force in the universe, Dr Sullivan noted. It can even turn a cold heart into a floss.

Doctor Sullivan wondered whether he should ask him outrightly the exact kind of relationship he had with Kathleen, but he couldn’t bring himself to.

However from Shawn’s side he could tell that he was deeply in love with Dr Janice, but he couldn’t say the same about Dr Janice. It always looked as if she didn’t want to have anything to do with President Hudson.

"What else do you want to know? Shawn asked, his tone suggesting that this was a rare opportunity that Dr Sullivan needed to take advantage of.

Dr Sullivan gathered his courage and asked whilst the window of opportunity was still opened. "Since you’ve given me this rare honour of sharing such a personal matter with me, I would like to know the exact relationship you share with Dr Janice?"

He didn’t need to wait for long as Shawn’s next words not only came as an answer but a shocking revelation.

"Kathleen is my wife." Shawn declared like someone who was announcing his accomplishment and showing off his trophy.

"What?" The excited yelp burst out before Doctor Sullivan had time to think that it was an unrefined behavior.

Shawn chuckled with satisfaction as he watched the doctor almost jump out of his skin. This was exactly the reaction Shawn had expected Doctor Sullivan to have after his revelation.

"You mean you and Kathleen are married?"

"Mm- hm," Shawn replied proudly, then thrust his jaw forward, his brow arched in a challenging look and asked, "Do you still think that I have no relation with Kathleen?"

Of course Dr Sullivan knew what Shawn’s action meant. This was his reply for telling him previously that he couldn’t share some information about a person to a non relative.

He was rubbing it in his face, or better still, shoving it down his throat that they shared the closest relationship ever imagined.

Even if they were married, one fact still remained- they were not living together and seemed to know nothing about each other’s lives. What could have happened that made them so estranged from each other?

They make such a beautiful couple. None of them is inferior to the other in their seperate fields.

He remembered that Shawn just recently knew that his wife was "The" Dr Janice they’ve been looking for to cure his grandmother for years.

The more he felt he had unraveled the secret between them, the more mysterious their relationship got.

"So do you mind telling me what is actually going on with that criminal and my wife?" Shawn’s words abruptly caught through Dr Sullivan’s train of thoughts.

He looked conflicted but with such a preamble that Shawn had given only to get him to this point, he had no choice but to tell him everything, afterall it was no top government secret, nor a crime they were trying to cover.

He had only felt that Dr Janice should have been the one to explain things to him.

**********

The following Monday after a hectic weekend, Steffan, who should have taken some time out to rest after the series of surgery he performed in the entire weekend, still came to drop Sophia at the kindergarten.

For the past week, he never failed to come to the kindergarten with the hope of seeing the parents, or precisely the mother of Elvis and Eleanor.

After waiting in the car for the first three days without success, he had tried to use his connections to get the identities of the children but met a brick wall.

None of the teachers were ready to go against the formidable family behind those children. Also it was against the ethics of the school to reveal a child’s information to a non relative.

He had even tried to trail the nanny to their residence but on each occasion, they effortlessly shook him off their trail.

So he had no choice but to continue waiting at the car park.

After handing over Sophia to her teacher in school, he waited in his car as usual, perhaps he might get lucky today.
