Chapter 115: What Is Your Relationship With Dr Janice?

"When have you become the law that you want to take matters into your own hands?" Kathleen reprimanded with the same amount of anger.

"Moreover, whether he had succeeded in killing me or not has nothing to do with you. Or is it your death?"

"Kathleen!" roared Shawn, forgetting for a moment that they were not alone.

With just a step he caught her wrist and pulled her against him.

"I.. mmmm," The rest of Kathleen’s words were swallowed in a fierce kiss.

Kathleen froze, her muscles locked in a momentary paralysis, her eyes widening in astonishment as Shawn’s hot lips pressed against hers.

The warmth of his breath sent a current running through her body and at that very second, Kathleen’s mind went blank.

She never expected that Shawn would suddenly kiss her.

She was not the only person shocked by Shawn’s sudden kiss.

Dr Sullivan blinked with incredulity. "Am I seeing things?" he muttered,

His eyes darted to Spider, searching for confirmation that what he was seeing was not a figment of his imagination only to see Spider’s lips parted in silent surprise.

"Who is he?" Spider managed to ask, returning doctor Sullivan’s question with his.

"President Shawn Hudson of Hudson Corporations."

"Huh?" This bit of information was a shocker to Spider who had only heard of him but never seen him in real life.

No wonder, his aura was so terrifying and oppressive. It turns out he is President Hudson.

"Are they lovers? That shouldn’t be the case right? Seeing the way they were arguing with each other."

As Spider spoke, he turned to look at the couple still kissing and was lost in thoughts again.

Apart from the initial purpose of shutting her up, Shawn’s anger was also released into that single kiss which later turned intense.

Kathleen only came back to her senses when she felt she was about to suffocate to death.

’What’s wrong with this man? Why would he kiss me all of a sudden? And to think that they were not even alone.

She raised her heels but Shawn seemed to have anticipated her action as he deftly moved his legs just about when Kathleen’s five inch heel was about to land on his foot.

Seeing that he had skillfully dodge her attack, she decided to go for plan B.

She slightly parted her lips to allow his tongue gain access into her mouth which came as a surprise to Shawn.

But before he could start counting his blessings, he suddenly released Kathleen.

Even though he was in pain, there was not a single expression of anger on his face as he gazed at Kathleen’s vengeful look.

"Let go of me, you ruffian," hissed Kathleen, shaking off Shawn’s arm that was still snaked around her waist as she wriggled out of his embrace. "Have you lost your mind?"

Kathleen felt humiliated by Shawn’s shamelessness. He had succeeded in making her lose face before these people that thought so highly of her.

She blushed a deep red and she couldn’t even look into Dr Sullivan’s eyes as she spoke.

"I have to leave now, doctor. Please keep an eye on Spider and report any situation that crops up to me immediately." Having said that, she hurried out of the ward, without closing the door.

Shawn followed her retreating back with a longing look.

He was tempted to go after her but he knew she wouldn’t tell him what he needed to know, especially now that she was angry with him. His only option was Doctor Sullivan.

He swallowed the liquid in his mouth which had a metallic taste. ’This woman is getting more heartless by the day. Thank goodness she didn’t completely bite off my tongue.’

He slowly turned around and was not the least perturbed by the two men who were still staring at him as if he was a suspect.

Instead he had a cold look on his face as if he wasn’t the person that was caught in the throes of passion just a few minutes ago.

"Come with me Doctor Sullivan," he ordered like he would to a subordinate leaving no room for refusal.

"After you, President Hudson." Doctor Sulivan also had something to confirm with him so he was more than willing to have this chat with him.

"I will be back," he said to Spider before rising to leave with Shawn.

"But,.." began Spider.

"You are safe here. The incident earlier only happened because I allowed President Hudson in myself, no one can get past the security to get to you."

"Alright," Spider said and settled back in bed.

If not that he hasn’t fully recovered, he wouldn’t be this concerned about his safety, afterall he had weathered several storms before facing this one that almost took his life.

He wished more than ever that his recovery would be faster.

After reassuring Spider of his safety, Dr Sulivan went to his office where Shawn was already seated.

Taking a quick glance at the man who had made himself comfortable in his office as if he was the MD of the hospital and him, a mere messenger, he was speechless.

"M’Such a domineering attitude,’ he scoffed and took his seat behind his desk.

He checked his watch and saw that he still had close to an hour before his next surgery. So whatever they needed to talk about should be over before then.

"President Hudson, what do you want to see me for?" He asked when Shawn didn’t say anything after he had been seated for over a minute.

Instead of a reply, Shawn cocked his head at doctor Sulivan who unconsciously adjusted his glasses several times under the scrutiny of Shawn’s gaze.

"What game are you and Kathleen playing, hiding a criminal in the hospital?" Shawn asked after a long while. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂

Shawn’s voice sounded like he was interrogating him. "It’s not what you think, President. We are not hiding him."

Shawn’s lips turned down in a sneer. "You are not hiding him," he mocked.

"Can you then explain to me the reason for the tight security and the special treatment from Kathleen?"

His eyes turned cold when he remembered how Kathleen had attacked him in order to defend the crimson as if he was her savior. "What’s going on?"

Dr Sullivan was startled by the harshness in his voice. He thought they were having a civil conversation here.

"You see, sir, the only reason he is in the hospital is because he is still recuperating, the tight security is so that nothing happens to him to interfere with the investigations being carried out by the police."

"Mmm-hmm?" Shawn urged, a reminder that he has not yet said all he was expected to say.

"As for the special treatment being given to him, Well, you see, um, it’s a bit complicated,"’ Doctor Sullivan’s voice wavered.

"Why is it complicated?" Shawn demanded, a faint suspicion arising somewhere in his mind.

"I think the best person to answer that question will be Dr Janice herself," replied Dr Sullivan.

"Why do I need to wait for her? Are you not both in cahoots in this whole arrangement?"

"And why is she protecting him to the extent of going against me?"

While Shawn was busy expressing his dissatisfaction, Dr Sullivan on the other hand was busy with something else. ’Is that jealousy I detect in President Hudson’s voice or something else? I think its the right time for me to take a shot, maybe this time I might actually hit the target.’

"If I’m to answer that question, President Hudson, I may need you to answer the question I’m about to ask."

Shawn threw him an impatient look, "Are you trying to bargain with me, or what?"

"Not at all sir, but as a doctor, there are certain rules I need to follow and certain conditions that need to be met before certain information is divulged, especially to someone who is not related to the person involved."

Those two words "not related" struck Shawn’s nerve and he instantly felt like throwing a punch in Doctor Sullivan’s face.

But when he remembered that no matter how angry he was he couldn’t just act recklessly, he restrained himself and asked in a calm voice,

"What do you want to know?" Even then, his expression seems to be saying: "you had better know your limits."

Not knowing he had just escaped a grave assault, Doctor Sullivan cleared his throat.

Finally, he gets a chance to ask the question that has been bothering him from the very first day he saw them together in this same hospital.

"Em, what is your relationship with Dr Janice?"

Shawn was not surprised at this question, especially after what had happened in that criminal’s ward, coupled with the fact that, Dr Sullivan had witnessed several encounters that he had had with Kathleen.

Only a fool will pretend not to know that there was something going on with them.

Even without these reasons, he also wanted to answer this question in order to give Dr Sullivan an irrecoverable slap for using the words "not related" on him.
