THE FORGOTTEN HEIRESS-Chapter 117: Are You Kathleen?
Not long after Steffan returned to his car, a white Bentley pulled up beside his car and to his greatest shock, the person that came out of the car in the company of those two children was none other than the drop dead gorgeous beauty that viciously stole his heart at the hospital.
He whistled in disbelief, his eyes almost falling out of their sockets.
"Are my eyes playing tricks on me again, or is it really her?"
He blinked several times to confirm it was really her. "But why is she the one with those kids?"
"Is it possible she is related to them in any way?"
"I must get my answers today," he said as he stepped out of the car and went after them.
Kathleen heard quick footsteps behind them as she approached the school and stopped.
She’s been so busy recently and had to ask Mrs Carr to send them on her behalf.
But after seeing the aggrieved look on Eleanor’s face as she insisted that she send them this morning, she had to personally send them at the risk of running late for her appointment.
Luckily, the place where her appointment was to be made was just about ten minutes drive from the kindergarten.
Thinking it was one of the parents who was also in a hurry like her and wanted to quickly drop their kids, she held Elvis and Eleanor’s hands with each of hers, and stepped aside to make way for the person.
She waited for the person to pass, but instead a lone man stepped right in front of them with a seemingly charming smile on his face.
Kathleen released an exasperated sigh and shook her head as he took in the man’s face. At the same time Elvis quickly dodged behind her, a wary look on his face.
"What is going on here?" she inquired, her tone cold and unfriendly. "Don’t tell me you have been trailing me."
"Hello gorgeous, it’s like we are destined to meet again and again," Steffan smiled, obviously ignoring her question and apparent coldness.
His eyes darted between Elvis and Eleanor with interest. "Are you the mother of these children?"
"What has that got to do with you?" Kathleen shot out.
Steffan was undeterred by her unfriendly attitude, instead he focused his attention on Elvis.
"Hey little man, is this your mom?" Now that he saw him standing beside his gorgeous crush, he could see a slight resemblance between them. But it couldn’t be compared to the striking resemblance he bore with Shawn.
"Why do you keep calling me that?" complained Elvis.
"Do you know him?" Kathleen asked Elvis who had been glaring at the man.
Eleanor also had her grievances against the man as she recognized him as the weird man that made them leave the party before it was over and didn’t waste the opportunity to air her grievances.
"That’s the bad uncle that was chasing after us at Sophia’s party the other day. He was also pestering Elvis when we went shopping at the mall."
"Hey sweetheart, why do you say I am bad?" The little girl was so adorable. Even her angry face looked so cute, he felt like pinching it, but restrained himself.
He didn’t have the chance to see her clearly at the party as they ran away before he could take a proper look at her.
Kathleen saw the way he was looking at Eleanor with pure affection and didn’t know what to make of the man.
"Mister, can you behave yourself and stop being a nuisance? As you can see they’re running late and need to be in class."
Steffan raised his hands in mock surrender.
"I don’t mean any harm, my gorgeous lady. I just want to get to know them better but I wonder why they keep running away each time they see me."
This was a question he’s been asking himself ever since he saw the little guy at the mall.
"I’m curious about that as well," Kathleen said. "Since you don’t have any designs on my child, why did you follow him to the extent of scaring his poor heart into a mental case?"
Steffan was overwhelmed, he had thought of many possibilities but never this one. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦
’The children were indeed hers. Does it mean she’s married? But to whom?’
’And the boy, he is an exact copy of Shawn.
She can’t be married to Shawn right? Shawn never mentioned anything about...’
Kathleen saw the man seriously in thought and walked away with her children, a sympathetic look on her face. "He is definitely not Okay"
Eleanor was of the same opinion with her mother. "Maybe you should have his brain checked, mummy, he is obviously unstable."
"What is wrong with you, Eleanor?" rebuked Elvis. He was highly disappointed in his sister who was so undiscerning. "Mummy is definitely not going to have anything to do with that weirdo," he declared in indignation.
"That’s enough, you two. There is no need for you to bawl your eyes out over an insignificant fellow. Hurry up and put on a nice smile, you can’t be seen with such expressions."
She stopped to ensure they had complied before stepping into the hall.
She watched the teacher lead them away before returning to her car.
As she had expected, the man had not left, but was waiting for her right beside her car.
The first thing that came out of his mouth almost gave her a heart attack.
"Are you Kathleen?" That’s the only explanation Steffan could come up with after thinking for so long.
He had been so engrossed in his thoughts that he didn’t notice when they walked away.
Still he didn’t get an answer until he remembered that Shawn had mentioned something about his wife coming back and even followed her from the airport a few days back.
Then he gradually put together the little pieces of clues he could gather to come up with this conclusion.
