THE FORGOTTEN HEIRESS-Chapter 100: Bear The Consequences
The manager’s angry glare swept through the crowd and he could not help but shake his head in pity for the people that have offended this big shot.
Is it not the same thing as taking a knife to the butcher and handing it over yourself to be beheaded?
He instructed his assistant to keep an eye on the situation while he personally went to retrieve the surveillance footage.
"What do you think could be written on the card she gave to the manager?" someone asked.
"That card is definitely not simple guessing from the way the manager’s expression instantly changed.
"Not only that, he obediently went to retrieve the footage as if he was following an order from a superior."
Mrs Beazell on the other hand was no longer paying attention to what they were talking about.
The moment she heard Kathleen mention surveillance camera, she broke out in cold sweat. She had quickly looked up, and to her utmost dismay saw a camera hanging conspicuously above her head. There was no doubt everything had been captured on camera.
"How come I didn’t see it?" She wailed to herself.
Linda was not any better, as she saw her mother’s little action and her correspondent reaction.
She asked in a hushed whisper, "Mom, did you fall by yourself and wasn’t actually pushed by Kathleen?"
Her mother’s pale face and jittery eyes told Linda all she needed to know.
She felt a sense of doom coming and was at a loss on what to do.
"How can you be this careless mom?"
"It never crossed my mind that there would be surveillance cameras installed. I only wanted to retaliate against her," argued Mrs Beazell.
She never thought she could be so engulfed by rage that she became careless.
"I always believed you were very sensible mom and would never make any mistakes," Linda scolded. "Now see what you have gotten yourself into." 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
"I did it for you child. I was so angry when I saw her and wanted to teach her a lesson for all what she has done to you that I acted impulsively."
Her pleading eyes searched Linda’s face frantically, "You have to help me out this time, dear."
There was no way she was going to tell her daughter that she had actually sent someone to kill Kathleen.
She remembered how shocked she was when she saw Kathleen walk into the café exuding good health and vitality.
She was unreconciled with the fact that Kathleen escaped the assassination attempt and was walking about free without any care in the world while she was living every day in fear.
She had wanted to strangle her to death on the spot but could only suppress the urge temporarily.
Who would have thought Kathleen would end up holding her hand in defence when she wanted to slap her.
And on the spur of the moment she took advantage of the situation to fall to the ground inorder to frame her and give her a bad reputation.
"Now hurry up baby, and tell me what we can do. I can’t even think straight now."
"We need to take you to the hospital mum," Linda said, winking at her in the process.
"But I’m ok I was only preten..."
Suddenly, she realized what her daughter was hinting at and got into character.
"Ah, ah, mmm," she groaned.
This earned her the anticipated attention she needed to proceed with her next act.
"Mom!" Linda quickly held on to her mother’s waist, her voice sounding scared.
"What is it, mom? Don’t scare me. What is wrong with you?" she screamed, frantically looking around for help as it may seem but in truth she was actually checking to see if their act was convincing enough.
A few people looked at them with concern while others turned their face away after a brief glance, clearly not sure whether to trust the daughter and mother pair.
"I think I dislocated my waist. I can’t stand again," Mrs Beazell winced in pain, almost falling to the ground but was instantly held up by Linda.
Kathleen looked over at the ridiculous mother and daughter and couldn’t help but compliment them from the depth of her heart.
Their acting was flawless and believable to a mere onlooker who didn’t know them.
Take for example Mrs Beazell, her performance was so good that sweat soon gathered on her twisted face and she seemed to be in great pain.
"Hold it there. Where do you think both of you are going?" she sneered. They must think she is a fool not to see through their ridiculous drama.
"My mother is in so much pain," complained Linda with innocent eyes. "I need to take her to the hospital."
Kathleen clapped her hands a few times, a smirk playing around her mouth.
"What a coincidence? How come the pain got so serious that she can’t wait to go to the hospital as soon as checking the footage was mentioned?"
"I’m telling the truth. If anything happens to my mother, I hope you would be able to bear the consequences," Linda threatened.
To corroborate her daughter’s claim, Mrs Beazell’s knees wobbled and she dropped to the ground again.
’Why didn’t you die like I planned, bitch. Just wait, I will never let you go once I’m out of this place.’ Mrs Beazell’s heartbeat rose inexplicably and she gritted her teeth in anger.
Those that were convinced by their performance rushed to her side and this was what they saw when they looked at her and concluded that she was in intense pain from her waist injury.
"She is not lying. She’s in great pain," one of them remarked, glancing at Kathleen who was looking as if anyone that disobeyed her would not go scot free.
"No need to take her to the hospital," Kathleen objected in a cold voice.
"I happen to know a thing or two about bones. I’m sure Linda here, has not forgotten that I have a degree in the medical profession."
