The Forbidden Heiress At The All Male Alpha Academy-Chapter 159: The Bite
You always dream of fire.
Theodora stands within it, untouched. The flames do not consume her yet. They await instruction. The law requires judgment.
By statute, hesitation is failure. By duty, mercy is forbidden. And the fire names her guilty.
Verdict rendered not by desire, but by necessity.
Deferred.
Not for lack of evidence.
For excess of consequence.
This judgment binds you as much as it binds her,’
That was what was written in the paper. It was a message to Aurelius and Theodora had just finished reading it. The law requires judgement for her? What the hell was she guilty of?!
She looked back at Aurelius. His eyes were closed, but he kept murmuring under his breath. Whoever had dropped this here wanted to give it to him, so she dropped it back where she picked it up.
Then she recalled something he said the night of truth or dare. Where he always had a dream of someone standing in fire, and he’s torn on whether to save them or join them. If anything, this letter seemed to be... an interpretation of that dream, and she was the one standing in the fire.
Just then, she heard the footsteps approaching the room and she quickly dropped the letter under his pillow and whirled around just in time as his roommate walked in.
Dax.
Dax was Aurelius’s roommate?
"What are you doing here?!" He demanded, his eyes red with spite and whatever else he was feeling.
"Your roommate was spent. I have dropped him off," She said, then started for the door. She stopped when she was about to leave, then turned to him, "I’m sorry, about Roman and Clarke,"
Dax paused in his steps, and she heard him exhale slowly.
"If it makes you feel any better, I buried them," She added.
He was grieving. He looked like someone who had lost much, and she now sat in class alone and quiet, with his friend’s empty desks next to him.
As she took a step outside, she heard him mutter, "Thanks,"
She nodded once and was gone. There was nothing worse than suddenly losing someone you loved, and once again she was reminded of her mother...
*Deep breaths, Theo*
Theo did as she was told. As she left the dorm, she pulled up the collar of her shirt to hide the bite mark. Seraphina was trying to heal it, but the fact that Aurelius had bitten her with the intention of possession would make it take about the whole day before it disappeared.
As she approached the Eastern Dorms, she found Heather pacing back and forth along the path. The girl was waiting for her, and Theo had been avoiding her ever since that incident.
"I know you’re there!!!" She yelled just as Theo turned to leave, "I can smell you!"
"Ugh!" Theo hissed and walked out.
Heather walked up to her, "You can’t escape this, Dora. Have you spoken to Zeke or not?"
*Tell her I’m gonna chew her intestines as dinner if she doesn’t shut up*
And that is exactly why Theo has been avoiding her. Seraphina was out to kill Heather.
"Not yet," Theo replied, "What exactly am I supposed to tell him, anyway? You know Zeke. He doesn’t care about anything,"
"You’re gonna figure out how to approach him on the matter!" She barked, "And as for what to tell him~" she pursed her lips, thinking, "Tell him about me, about my beauty and my status. If that doesn’t work, give him this letter," She pulled out an envelope from her shirt pocket. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚
Theo cursed under her breath, "Let me tell you something, Heather. Zeke won’t give a time of his day to read this letter. He likes bold girls who can stand up to him,"
"Stand up to him?" She scoffed heavily, "I can’t do that! Who do you think I am? Professor Sylas? But you know what I’m sure of?" She took a menacing step forward, "Is that if you don’t do your job properly and make him look at me, you’re gonna be out of Gravemont for good! So take the letter...," She shoved the envelope at Theo’s chest, "And do your fucking job!"
Theo cursed again.
"One more thing, Dora,"
"What?" Theo snapped.
"You are gonna be working on a lot of things on the night of the play, right?" Her eyes twinkled with mischief, "I want you to sabotage Ava’s costume so she doesn’t have to go on stage. I’ll be taking over as Lyra that day,"
"Huh?" Theo’s eyes were beginning to twitch.
"I won’t repeat myself, Dora. The play is in five days, and you know exactly what to do. Before the play, you must make Zeke warm up to me. Let him walk up to me at the boneyard and sit next to me, or...you could plan a meet-up after talking to him for me. I want something that would be the talk of the whole school,"
Heather was daydreaming. She was asking for a lot. A lot that would never come true, and Theo forced a whole lot of calm into her veins and kept listening to her talk.
"....the wedding should be at Gravemont too," She finally finished.
"Amazing!" Theo exclaimed sarcastically, "Now, are we done here or you wanna tell me what colour you wanna use as your lipstick on the wedding day?"
"What?" Heather crossed her arms, "You Jealous?"
*Tell her I’m not jealous, I’m murderous and she’s my only victim*
"Why would I be jealous?" Theo’s eyes twitched again. In fact, all the veins on her neck were strained and looked like they were about to pop. Good thing she had her collar up, but it didn’t hide the stiffness in her shoulders.
"Why wouldn’t you be jealous?" Heather leaned in closer, studying Theo like she was trying to put something in place, "Ha! You like Zeke!"
"W...what?"
"You’re brewing with jealousy, and that’s not good for you, Dora." She clicked her tongue, shaking her head with deep dismay. "That’s not good for a girl pretending to be a guy, you see. You’re not supposed to like anyone, especially your soon-to-be stepson,"
*I’m going to rip her apart!!!*
"Goodnight, Heather,"
As she walked away, the pendant was glowing through her shirt. She never noticed whenever it glowed, but this time, the red glow was so much that it caught her attention and a few other boys moving around.
Quickly, she wrapped her hands around it.
Her emotions were going out of control again, hence the reaction.
Deep breaths, and she would feel better. The glow would disappear again if she did so.
*It’s not glowing this time because you’re angry,* A familiar voice spoke of her, its vicious edge curling with malice, *It’s reacting to the bite on your neck, genius*
