Chapter 158: Piggybacking

Celeste Devereux.

Theo watched him with the same silent gaze he had used on them. Knowing he was an assassin in the past was huge, which also explained how he was able to move like that during his fight with Liam.

"Aurelius, stay here. I’ll be back soon," She stated.

"Where are you-"

She was already walking toward Celeste. The people right behind him were all over each other, but Theo sat down anyway.

"I didn’t think someone like you would ever come to a place like this," She smiled at him, "It’s not exactly...your style,"

"Do I have to explain myself to you?"

"Not really, but you know I won’t leave you alone till you give me something," She grinned sheepishly.

She saw that flash of irritation on his face, "Aurelius has been down for a few days now. I came here to keep an eye on him," He explained.

"You sure you weren’t keeping an eye on someone else?!" She arched a brow, "Let’s say...me?"

"And why the hell would I do that?"

"I don’t know, Celeste. You tell me!" Her eyes hardened.

"What are you saying?!" He frowned.

"I know you’re the one who’s been stalking me!"

For the first time since she knew him, Celeste actually burst into laughter. He laughed genuinely hard, and tears pooled in his eyes from the sheer intensity it brought upon him.

Theo just stared, taken aback.

"Me? Stalk you?" He huffed in between laughs, "I would rather take a combination of Wolfsbane and Aconite Ale than follow someone like you around," He said, wiping the tears from the corner of his eyes, "You need to move your search somewhere else, little ghost,"

Theo was confused. Did she get this all wrong? Was Celeste not the masked figure?

"My number one suspect remains you, Celeste," She stated, shoulders squared.

He laughed again, "Number one suspect...," He murmured, "You’ll make a very bad detective wolf,"

"Haha," She rolled her eyes and fell back on the chair. She couldn’t smell or sense any lie coming from him. And unlike her stalker, Celeste has a scent and his usual quiet but mysterious aura.

"You should talk to Aurelius more. He knows you’re hiding something from him,"

The humour on his face disappeared, replaced by the usual, "He’s always known. I’m not ready to tell him anything,"

"I think he deserves to know. You’ve been friends with him since what? You hide things from him, and he’s going to hide things from you, too,"

"He’s not gonna hide anything from me,"

"Yeah?" She scoffed, "Well based on everything he just told me a minute ago, I’d say he’s hiding a lot from you. Not because he doesn’t want to tell you, but because he feels left out of your life, too," Her voice lowered, "You should really tell him about your condition,"

"That what?" Celeste turned to her, his purple eyes igniting with frustration, "That my true form is a girl and I only change during Moon events and I can’t tell him because it’s gonna destroy everything we have? Wonderful advice, Little ghost," He rolled his eyes and leaned back on the sofa.

"Same mistake I made with Zeke," She explained quietly, recalling everything that had happened when he found out, "And he was overly furious when he found out the truth on his own. He trusted me and I failed. I don’t want that to happen between you and Aurelius. Don’t let your fears get in the way of what you’re supposed to do," She said and stood up, "Aurelius deserves to know, more than anyone,"

*Look at you, advising everyone you come across. Gravemont’s advisor, they should call you that* Seraphina teased as Theo walked away.

*So, do you think he’s the masked guy?*

*The guy we chased the other day was a little shorter than Celeste*

Theodora sighed, *I hope we are not wrong about this*

Stopping in front of Aurelius, she was shocked to see more empty wine bottles scattered around him. She had left for ten minutes, and the guy had drowned down another three crates of it, and he was now completely drunk.

He kept blinking uncontrollably and was muttering something under his breath. Yeah, it was high time he returned to his dorm.

She grabbed his hand to pull him, "I’m afraid if I leave without you, you’re gonna finish all the wine in this club," She said as she dragged him to his feet.

He swayed a lot, and she quickly wrapped her arms around his back as his weight fell on her.

"Great, you can’t even walk," She mumbled.

The next minute, Theo was walking out of the den carrying Aurelius on her back. It looked like an ant carrying a boulder, and she was thankful for her wolf strength.

Aurelius wouldn’t stop murmuring indecipherable words, and he would frequently press a finger to her cheek, then chuckle funny. She managed to keep the drunk idiot from being seen by another till she got to the southern dorms.

The moment she walked in, she paused and looked around. It’s the first time she’s been here. But she couldn’t admire the building for long as she had to get Aurelius in his room quickly.

"What is your room number?" She whispered to him.

He bopped her cheek again, "I’ve never seen you in your female form, you know,"

"What is your room number?!"

"Take me to any room. This is my territory, I own all the rooms," He grinned.

She flicked his forehead, "Aurelius!"

"My wifey is so grumpy," He slurred, that annoying smug face coming back, "I don’t wanna go back to my room. I want to stay like this, with you,"

Maybe she should have just left the idiot in that damn club! "Then I’m taking you back!"

She felt him panic, "Room 10,"

Suddenly, his teeth gripped the skin on her neck and he bit a little too hard, "You smell biteable,"

"AHH!" She screamed at the contact, almost letting go of him, "Are you insane?!"

"There you go!" He grinned as he pulled back, "A hickey. I’ve marked my territory," He sighed.

There was no time to waste. She broke into his room and threw him on the first bed. He fell on it with a bounce, and the wood creaked under his weight, "Ugh!"

Theo reached out and touched where he had bitten her. It had already turned red, a little mark of possession just sitting there. A wave of rage smashed into her, and she wanted to punch him hard.

Just then, she saw a piece of paper lying on the ground, right beside his bed. It was properly folded, and looked out of place in the room.

Curiosity kicked in. She wanted to read it.
