Chapter 45: Sign Language.

"Cyprian!" Raymond called, but Cyprian was long gone, already planning another scheme in her head.

Standing in the elevator, Cyprian tapped her feet on the ground anxiously, still trying to think of how she would meet Shikera. She had thought the police would be able to scare whoever was presiding over Anderson Corporation in Liam Anderson’s place but which police would be able to scare Ethan Deloach.

Forgetting that Shikera could not speak, she could already predict what Shikera would say when she finally found her.

"Are you angry now, Sweetie?"

Of course she was angry, anger was even an understatement compared to what she was feeling. Who would not be annoyed that her best friend, whom she had trusted regardless of whatever happened, could lie to her like this? Yes, Shikera was married to Ethan Deloach, and she understood why their marriage must be kept secret. But did that give her the opportunity to lie to her friend so many times?

By this time, she had gotten to the ground floor and she walked to the receptionist’s desk.

"Miss Leigh?" One of them called, remembering her from when Shikera worked as a receptionist here, and Cyprian used to accompany her.

Cyprian smiled brightly before exchanging greetings with the woman.

"Can you let me stay here until the CEO’s assistants come down? I have something to tell them," Cyprian wanted to stay there and wait until Ethan DeLoach was ready to go home. Even though she knew it was not good to be easy, she was determined to see Shikera that very day.

The receptionist agreed without thinking too much. Since Cyprian was working with Raymond while she worked here, they didn’t see anything wrong in her coming to see him.

Cyprian thanked them and assumed a position behind the desk, keeping a careful eye out for Raymond.

She did this for almost two hours before finally noticing three men walk out of the presidential elevator. They were all dressed in black and two of them were wearing facemasks that covered a reasonable part of their face, making it impossible to recognize them.

However, that would be for people who didn’t know what they were looking for as Cyprian already expected this. She stood up from where she was sitting and bade the other receptionists goodbye, while following the trio in black to the garage.

The men walked straight to their car which Cyprian immediately recognized as the car Shikera drove here sometimes ago. Again, she cursed herself for her stupidity.

At The Villa.

The sound of the door opening, didn’t jolt Shikera one bit as she continued paying attention to the scrabble board in front of her. Ruthlyn on the other hand, didn’t have that much liberty so she stood up and walked to the doorway to welcome the men.

However, seeing the first person to walk in made her raise her eyebrow in confusion. Of she was not mistaken, then this was Raymond’s ex girlfriend. What was she doing here?

Seeing Ethan, Enoch and Raymond walk in after the lady, without the least bit of surprised expression on their faces, made Ruthlyn relax.

She gave a small bow as a greeting to Cyprian who returned it immediately, before bypassing her to walk into the room.

Her footsteps were light as she stepped into the living room, noticing Shikera sitting on the sofa while staring down at a scrabble board.

Noticing her friend’s desolate posture, all of Cyprian’s anger disappeared like they had never existed.

"Kera!"

Shikera looked up from the board with a start, having recognized Cyprian’s voice immediately.

She looked around hurriedly before picking up her phone.

"What are you doing here?!"

"No, how did you get here?!"

"That’s not important! How did you find this place?!"

Cyprian’s phone pinged thrice, and she raised it up to check her message.

"Is that important right now?" She replied to Shikera’s message, not by text but by speaking."You are seeing me for the first time in four days and the first thing you think about is how I got here. I’m offended, Kera!"

Shikera sighed exasperatedly, shaking her head.

"That’s not it, Rian. You know what? Come up to my room, Ethan must not..." Shikera’s finger suddenly clicked on the send button, as soon as someone came in. Ethan!

She hurried to him, texting him as she did so.

"It’s my phone’s fault for breaking down and enabling Cyprian find me. She only thought I was in danger and that was why she came!" She weaved a stupid excuse, while hoping Ethan wouldn’t get angry that she just breached his house rules.

A small smile tugged at the sides of Ethan’s lips, as he read the lie.

"It’s alright, Liar. I allowed her come with us." With that said, he walked up the stairs to his room while Enoch followed him.

"I’ll be back in a while, Rian," Raymond excused himself, before walking out of the door.

Ruthlyn stayed behind, sitting opposite the sofa where Cyprian and Shikera were now sitting. She watched as Shikera started to type on her phone again, and Cyprian stopped her.

"Why don’t we use this opportunity to practice sign language?" The latter suggested, with Shikera nodding in agreement to her idea.

The both of them started making hand gestures without making any sound, while Ruthlyn watched them. After some minutes, she could not keep her curiosity to herself.

"Where did you guys learn sign language?" She asked, her eyes reflecting admiration.

Cyprian was the one who answered the question, a slight smile on her face as she said, "It’s kind of mandatory for reporters that might become announcers and anchors later on in their career. We need to learn how to communicate with both our mouths and our hands,"

"Wow! That makes sense..." Ruthlyn trailed off when Shikera began speaking with her hands again.

"With that being said," Shikera started, her brown eyes fixated on Cyprian’s emerald eyes. "How did you communicate with Ethan? With your mouth or hand or what?"

"Ooh...That?" Cyprian laughed, remembering what had happened earlier in the garage at Anderson Corporation.
