The Faceless Billionaire Celebrity Wife-Chapter 31: Drunken Shikera.
(A/N: Music Rec: Confess To You By Lim Kim.)
At the second calling, Ethan could immediately make out the owner of the voice; and it was Shikera. Esther made a mistake because of the slurry tone of Shikera’s voice, which very much sounded like her own mum’s voice, when she was alive.
Most nights, Mignon came home drunk and always shouted from the entrance just like Shikera was doing now, the only difference being that Mignon would never shout ’Darling Ethan’.
"It’s not Mummy, Esther," he turned to the others who had also recognized the voice, and nodded at his mother, pushing Esther towards her.
"Eth— No! Sweetie!!!" Her voice was clearer this time and she appeared at the end of the pathway, waving her hand at the small crowd of people at the front of the mansion.
Ethan’s jaws fell in surprise, wondering if his wife was high on something for her to call him that.
He glanced sideways at the workers and within a minute, they had all disappeared. The rest of the family walked back into the house too, a little dissapointed that they couldn’t see what would happen next.
After everyone had gone in and she still hadn’t gotten to him, with the staggering steps she was taking, Ethan walked towards her.
"Shi—"
Her footsteps suddenly quickened and she was at his front in a second, a bright smile on her face.
"Honey?" She called, still unaware of what she was doing.
"What are you saying, Shikera?" Ethan asked. With her in front of him and her face in front of his, he was able to smell her breath and see that it didn’t reek of alcohol. It reeked of wine instead, so he deduced she was drunk from the wine.
"What?! You don’t enjoy me calling you that?" Her upset voice came as she pouted her lips, staring up at him.
"Shikera, what exactly did you take?"
"Nothing! I just drank wine with 0.6 percent alcohol and that’s all!" The way she showed him her hands like a little kid when she was done talking, amused him and it was all he could do to keep himself from laughing.
However, Shikera didn’t seem like she wanted to laugh as a frown started to form on her face, and she turned away from Ethan.
"Shikera?" Ethan called, trying to lead her into the house as he always did whenever she sleepwalked but she didn’t budge.
"How was that act? Did I look like Mignon, your wife?!" She looked normal now but that was not what Ethan noticed, his eyes narrowed and he stared at Shikera, confused.
"Mignon, my wife?" He asked, trying to get what he heard straight.
Shikera ignored him and walked towards the house entrance, leaving him behind. Her drunk self had poured her heart out and now she just wanted to sleep.
Entering the house, everyone casted weird glances at her which she didn’t notice, and only Raine was able to give her a thumbs up with a smile on her face. The drunk Shikera could not think of anything so she ignored her and walked straight to her room.
When Shikera woke up the next morning, she knew without seeing a doctor, that she was very sick. And that meant she would not be able to work for the next few days.
How the hell would she explain to her Team Leader?! After the warning the woman had given her, wasn’t this the repercussion for her disobedience? But...what the hell did she take that made her this sick?
All this inner monologue was done with Shikera still lying in bed, as she was feeling that her head was too heavy for her to lift.
"Oh my god, Kera... You’ve outdone yourself this time," she groaned, lifting herself up slowly. She felt like a thousand people were ringing bells in her head, and that feeling for her, was the start of sickness worse than headache.
Standing up from the bed, she slipped her feet into the bedside slippers which always made her feet uncomfortable. She so badly wanted her bunny slippers back; but she couldn’t get them since they were back in Ethan’s Villa.
Thinking of that, she decided to ask him when they would be going back to his Villa so she headed to his room. She raised her hand to knock when she got there but a voice stopped her,
"What are you trying to do, Shikera? Knocking on your husband’s door when you can just go in at once?" Raine scoffed. "The worst that could happen is that Ethan’s naked in there and that shouldn’t be a problem; I need a grandchild from him."
Shikera face flushed pink at the older woman’s brash words, but she was quick to get over it.
"But you have a grandchild already," Shikera joked, even though the joke could not make her smile.
She watched as Raine shook her head, as if that was not a big deal, before saying,
"That’s why I said I want a grandchild from Ethan. Don’t let me keep you waiting, go on in," she walked away from there when she was done, while Shikera pushed open the door and entered, wondering if she understood what the woman was saying correctly.
As soon as she entered the gray room, as she would call it from now on because of the color, she could see that no one was slept on the bed.
"Forgive me..."
The faint groan she heard, made her turn sideways to see Ethan on the couch, and it looked like that was where he slept.
"Ethan?" She called, walking closer to him.
When she got to him, she bent over him and noticed the beads of sweat which had pooled over his face now. His face was also contorted in pain and his hands struggled with the sheets, like it was hindering him from getting to something.
Seems like the almighty Ethan DeLoach also has a weakness, Shikera though as she reached out her hand to tap him awake.
"Is it a night—"
Shikera’s mouth went shut as Ethan pulled her suddenly, dragging her down to the couch with him.
The speed with which he raised himself from the couch and put her in his former position, while he hovered above her, seemed inhumane to Shikera.
His hand traced from her hand up and wrapped across her neck, choking her before she could realize.
"Eth—" She struggled hard to get away from him, but being pinned underneath his body made her mission impossible.
"Shikera!" His eyes suddenly snapped open, his hands releasing her neck immediately as he stood up from her body.
"What— what just... happened?" Shikera stuttered, looking up at him. She watched as he raked his hand through his hair, sighing as if releasing pent up frustration.
"I’m sorry for that just now... " He whispered, wondering what she had been doing in his room in the first place. Either way, this had shown him that his condition was getting worse and he had to see his doctor.
"Frequently or once in a while?" Shikera asked him. "I’m talking about the nightmares," she added.
Ethan shook his head, dismissing her question since he considered it none of her business.
"I asked—"
"Don’t ask," he whispered, but knowing that Shikera wouldn’t relent, he broached another topic. "You said something last night about Mignon being my wife, or something."
Shikera was not ready to listen to his life story so she stood up from her seat, prepared to tell him not to bother about telling her anything. But the next words he said disabled her,
"Mignon is not my wife, and Esther is not my daughter," he announced, watching as Shikera’s eyes widened.
