Chapter 250: Baby Names.

LUCIAN RAYS GROUP OF HOSPITALS.

Cyprian’s eyes wandered around the length and breadth of the lobby, searching for a particular figure or familiar physique, but she found none. Glancing down at Esther who was holding tightly onto her hand, she asked, "Are you sure this was where Kera mentioned, Esther?"

"Yes, mummy asked us to be here by 10am," Esther replied, a hint of sadness in her tone. She was beginning to fear that Shikera had only promised her that the previous day in order to convince her to leave.

"But it’s past ten already..." Cyprian pointed out, trailing off when she saw the despair on Esther’s face. She continued in a cheery tone, "It’s alright though. We can wait a few hours more for mummy, right?"

"Of course!" Esther nodded.

"Let’s get somewhere to sit for n—"

"Rian!"

Cyprian turned on her heels abruptly at that awfully familiar voice which she would recognize wherever she heard.

"Kera?" she muttered without raising her voice, her eyes tracing the direction which the voice had come from.

Even with the mask, she was able to spot Shikera immediately she saw her. Hurrying over to meet her, she was surprised to see that there were two people flanking her on either sides of her hand. However, the surprise ceased for a while as soon as Shikera’s face came into view. Without holding herself back, she ran into Shikera’s arms and hugged her tight.

"Kera..."

"Cyprian, I really want to hug you two but I fear we can’t do this here. We have to find somewhere more private than this, Uh?" Shikera whispered, wriggling out of Cyprian’s embrace. The latter nodded vigorously like she just remembered their meeting was supposed to be a secret.

"Where do we go? This hospital is at the center of the city, do you know anywhere private around?" she asked excitedly.

"We can book a private room at the cafe in front," Shikera suggested. Cyprian agreed immediately and linked her arm with Shikera’s. Feeling Esther not on her side, she looked down to see that the little girl was now hugging the legs of one of Shikera’s companion.

"What are you doing, Esther? Come over here to your mu—" Cyprian felt her breath caught in her throat when realization dawned on her who the person was. "What the fuck, Kera! Are you seeing what I’m seeing?" she could not help but scream.

Shikera sighed, "You have more to see, Rian. Let’s just get outta here first."

Since Cyprian was rooted to the spot staring at Mignon like one who just saw her idol, Shikera had to drag her out the entrance.

They booked a private room at the cafeteria opposite the hospital, with Shikera paying with her card. She smiled when she got the bill notification on her phone.

"You are the only person I know that smiles when she sees money disappearing from her account," Cyprian joked, a bright smile on her face. All her sadness and unhappiness from the previous week had dissapeared momentarily in the presence of her best friend and only sister, Shikera. This was the effect they had on each other.

"Of course, because it’s proof that I can spend it all before die," Shikera whispered, "Ah...I can’t do that. I have to save for my baby." There was a small smile on Shikera’s face as she talked.

"Uh? What were you saying?" Cyprian asked. She hadn’t been able to hear what Shikera was saying as she had been busy staring at Mignon.

"Nothing that concerns you," Shikera chuckled.

A smile on her face, a waiter walked over to them to lead them to the private room they had booked.

"Why do you dress like this now?"

"Mummy, you don’t paint your nails like before?"

"Mummy, your hands look more beautiful now."

Esther’s chirpy voice echoed in their silent group as the followed the attendant.

The took their seats on the white leather sofas as soon as they got into the room, after the waiter left them with their orders in hand.

"Now, where have you been, Shikera?" Cyprian asked immediately, the smile on her face erasing to form a frown.

"Somewhere," Shikera deadpanned, despite knowing how much Cyprian would be irritated by the one piece answer.

"Stop that, baby girl. Tell me everything that happened within the past two weeks right here and now, alright?!"

Shikera shrugged, "Alright...I think the first you would like to hear is that I am pregnant."

"What?!" Cyprian screamed. "No, you aren’t."

"Yes I am, Ria—" Before Shikera was done talking, she was interrupted by a sudden and warm hug from Cyprian.

"Oh my gosh, I’m so happy for you baby!" she cried in joy. "How many months is it? No, hold on, have you thought of a name for the baby? I bet no, what do you think of Jessica? No, what if it’s a boy? Uhm...Jaden? That’s common, right? Let’s think more and...yh! We can use Brian! A minute, Kera, what if you have two babies in there? My god, I have to start thinking of names as soon as possible..."

"Cyprian, what the heck are you saying?" Shikera laughed at her friend’s frenzied state. For a moment there, she herself thought she had delivered the babies and they were already right in front of her.

But Cyprian was no more in the mood for laughter as she had just realized what it really meant for Shikera to be pregnant. Her friend was... leaving her soon.

"Kera, did you just say you are pregnant?" she queried, praying inwardly that her friend had been joking with her.

"I did," Shikera replied.

"No, no, no, no, no Kera. You aren’t pregnant. Tell me you are not," Cyprian shook her head slowly.

A sad smile starting to form on her face, Shikera slowly pulled Cyprian back into her arms.

"It’s alright, Rian. You should be happy for me that I have my own family now," she whispered in her ears.

Cyprian sniffled, tears falling down her eyes. She was not sure whether they were tears of joy that her friend had a new life living in her of if they were tears of sadness that her friend would have a tough time from then on. All she knew was that the tears would not stop falling out of her eyes.

"But I am your family too, Kera," she whispered back.

Shikera chuckled lightly to lessen the tension in the atmosphere. "But I can’t whisk you away with me without anyone’s permission, right? Your brothers will hunt me down," she stated.

"I don’t care about them, Shikera. Don’t...Wait, I have something to tell you. This baby might not be your only family," Cyprian exclaimed suddenly, withdrawing herself from the hug. Her eyes sparkled as she stared into Shikera’s inquisitive and curious ones.

Enoch reluctantly raised his head from the most comfortable pillow he ever had in his life; Ruthlyn’s lap. It was a rare occurrence that she had not pushed his head away when he laid there an hour ago, so he was very unwilling to change positions right now.

But he had no choice. Ruthlyn was the one who asked him to reach for the remote to switch on the TV.

"And you, won’t you get out of that pajamas?" Ruthlyn’s voice resounded above his head. Without looking, he could tell she was talking to Raymond who had buried himself in work right from the moment he came back from dropping Esther and Cyprian off.

"None of your business," Raymond deadpanned in reply, without even bothering to look up at his sister.

Enoch had grabbed the remote by then and switched on the TV. The channel airing was Preston TVs news station which was being broadcasted by Ashley Zuresh, so Enoch left it like that and assumed his former position.

"A rare sight in this villa," he commented, referring to the lot up television screen in Ethan’s villa, something he had only seen once.

"Of course, and if Ethan was home, you wouldn’t be sitting like this too," Ruthlyn added.

"Who turned my house into an homeless people lodge?"

Enoch sat up immediately, Ruthlyn rose to her feet, while Raymond slammed his laptop shut.

The three heads snapped towards the doorway to see Ethan standing there, tall and with head held high. His dark hair was ruffled and a little bit disheveled, enhancing his dark and fierce gaze.

"Damn, deaf people everywhere," he cursed beneath his breath when he received no reply from any of them.

"Ethan!" All three of them chorused, regaining their composure.

Ethan nodded disinterestingly, "Yeah... Raymond, Enoch, and Ruthlyn. I want all three of you out of my house."

He looked around the living room, his gaze travelling to the kitchen and up the stairs.

"Where’s my princess?" he questioned.

Just as Raymond was about to reply him, the news from the TV drifted into his ears, causing him to turn to the screen.

"Breaking News..."
