Chapter 235: Cause Harm To The Baby.

Victor knocked on the door thrice and a click sound came, showing that the door had been opened from inside.

"Be prepared, Vincent Jordan."

"I was always," Ethan replied from behind, following Victor inside the room when the door swung open.

Before his eyes could adjust to the dim light in the room, Ethan could already tell that all the core members of Jordans group were present. It was like he could smell the familiar scent when their breaths were mangled together.

And when his eyes finally accustomed to the light, a smile broke out on his face for he had been right.

"Wow, the whole family is present!"

Shikera was sitting across Mignon, who was still sulking over the fact that Shikera had indirectly called her an island bum.

"Leah...I said I didn’t mean that. Besides, it’s another day already and you still remember that? How?"

Mignon ignored her, her gaze wandering around the room without finding anything in particular to perch on.

"Are you ignoring me now?" Shikera pestered her, getting up from her seat to join Mignon.

"What if I just tell—ah!" she stopped dead in her tracks, her hand automatically going to her belly. Mignon who had been ignoring her, rose up immediately when she saw Shikera’s face which was contorted in pain.

"What’s wrong, Kera?"

"It’s my—ah! My..." Shikera whispered, tears welling up in her eyes at the excruciating pain which hit her just now.

"What? Your belly? It’s too early for us to say the baby’s kicking so what’s wrong?" Mignon questioned, worry etched all over her face. She placed her hand on Shikera’s back and guided her back to sit on the sofa where she stood up from, but they faced another problem doing that.

"I can’t sit...the pain increases when I try to bend," Shikera complained.

"Uh? Alright, wait here. I’ll get grandma from the beach!" With that, she gently removed her hands from Shikera’s back and sprinted out of the house.

Hissing in pain, Shikera struggled to endure the pain and just when she thought she could not take it anymore, she heard the approaching voices of Grandma Cooper, Mignon and Alan.

The trio were inside the house in a minute and Grandma Cooper hurried over to Shikera. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺

"How are you feeling?" she enquired.

"Painful..." was all Shikera could mutter.

Grandma Cooper frowned. She took care of Shikera’s mother but nothing like this happened to her. Turning to Alan, she instructed, "It’s still morning so Doctor Langston should be around. Call him over here."

While Alan went to carry out the errand given to him, Mignon pushed a chair to Shikera’s front for her to place her hands on and rest. Since she could neither sit not stand up straight, the half bent position was best for her.

Dr Langston arrived with Alan minutes later and immediately he saw Shikera’s face, his brows were drawn up in confusion.

"I have no explanation for something like this," he murmured, closing the distance between himself and Shikera.

"Where’s it the most painful?" he asked.

Just as she was about to answer, Shikera felt the pain completely dissapear. Surprised, she straightened slowly to see that she was feeling no pain whatsoever. Well aware of the shock on the faces of those who had seen her pain filled expression just some seconds ago, she sat down on the sofa without any difficulties and without scrunching her face up in pain.

"What’s this?" she looked up at Grandma Cooper, confusion evident in her eyes. "Why did the pain dissapear?"

"I’m surprised too. And Dr Langston is the one who can explain this," Grandma Cooper replied, turning with the others to stare at Dr Langston.

The man in question sighed, raking his hand through his hair in frustration.

"I can’t explain this, Grandma Cooper. It’s...this is the reason why I asked you ladies to get Kera’s medical history. I will advise you to get it as early as possible so I can study her," he paused, his gaze moving onto Shikera. "If not, there’s no guarantee that this won’t happen again and at the end of the day, cause harm to you and your baby.

"You asked for her medical history?" Grandma Cooper asked, surprise evident in her voice. Shikera and Mignon had not informed her of what Doctor Langston said when they got back home the previous day, as they didn’t want to worry her.

"I did," Dr Langston replied. "Okay...so it’s almost about the time I always check in at work. I will be on my way now then."

He walked out of the house with Mignon accompanying him to the door. When she came back to join the rest of them, Grandma Cooper had a fierce look in her eyes as her they moved from Shikera to Mignon. Alan retreated slowly to one side of the room when he saw that, knowing the only way to escape the ticking time bomb was to get out of Grandma Cooper’s eye range.

"So which of you will explain to me?" Grandma Cooper questioned.

"Me?...Grandma,I...I didn’t want you to worry because I thought it would get better soon and that there’s no need to go to the hospital. But now..." Shikera trailed off, a frown settling on her face.

"What now? You have another plan?" Grandma Cooper asked.

Shikera nodded gently, "Yes, I don’t think I have any other choice but to go to the city. I will have to be discreet as possible and come back here immediately I get the file."

"I’m going with you," Mignon added, "And you are not allowed to refuse to take me with you. What if something happens on your way into the city and you are put in danger? We both have to do everything together."

Grandma Cooper’s heart leapt, hearing the decision that the two young ladies had made.

"What are you two saying? You want to go back to the city?! Especially you, Kera," she asked loudly, her voice rising to its highest pitch.
