The Faceless Billionaire Celebrity Wife-Chapter 184: IQ test
Skyler swore inwardly that she would undergo an IQ test immediately all this was over, because the speed at which her brain was working this past few days never ceased to amaze her. Or was it that she was an expert in telling lies, and she had not discovered that talent of hers before.
"Noah really asked you to do this?" Shikera asked.
"Not about you lodging in a room in my house, but about your meals. He taught me how to cook it and we repeated the process so many times that I didn’t even feel there was no seasoning."
With furrowed eyebrows, Shikera continued questioning her,"And you didn’t bother to taste what you were cooking? Not even once?"
"That’s because I don’t eat veggies," Skyler answered immediately, making a mental note never to eat veggies in Shikera’s presence, from that moment on. As grateful as she was the lies were coming timely, she still felt like she was falling deeper and deeper into the well of trouble.
Shikera waved her off, a subtle gesture showing that she believed her. Though there were still loopholes in Skyler’s explanation, there was no other person Shikera could think of, that would painstakingly want to feed her three square meals.
Of course, there was Liam Anderson and Ethan, but Shikera did not want to believe they would do so much for her. Anyways, she would find out by herself the next morning. The only thing she had to do was wake up earlier than usual to see the person who usually delivered the food.

His tie was unknotted and lying on the arm of the sofa, the first three buttons on his shirt were undone, and his hair looked like a bed nest after running his fingers through it countless times that day. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦
"Should I get the car? We won’t be able to work if we stay here anyway so... Raymond suggested, leaving his sentence incomplete to avoid being the scape goat for today. Apart from Ethan not being able to work since Shikera left, he had also been snappy and always got easily annoyed.
Since Ethan rarely interacted with other employees and Ruthlyn was also busy coordinating the secretaries outside, Raymond and Enoch were the ones who usually bore the brunt if Ethan got annoyed.
"And what do I do when I get home? Stare into space," Ethan asked, his voice laced with sarcasm, in reply to Raymond’s earlier question.
The office fell silent for a few minutes, until Ethan broke it, "I have to see her."
"Sir?! You can’t see her for now, so Mrs Anderson won’t be alerted. And...your father is also in talks with Chairman Anderson to annul the marriage contract with Shikera so I think we just have to wait a while, before the clues fall into place."
Ethan stayed silent without replying, and when Raymond noticed he was being granted the chance to back up his words, he continued,"It’s just like killing two birds with one stone. We can uncover Mrs Natalia’s motive and also find out what the stakes were for the marriage contract."
"I still need to see her," Ethan stated.
Raymond sighed. He could not handle Ethan when the man was like this, and especially when it was because of a woman. Stepping outside the office, he signaled to Ruthlyn to join them.
"What’s wrong?" she asked, noticing the gloomy expressions on the faces of the two men in the room.
"He wants to see Shikera," Raymond answered, going ahead to fill Ruthlyn in on how he had tried to convince Ethan, but the man had been very uncooperative.
"Just see her? Is that all?" she asked, the question directed at Ethan.
Ethan raised his brow, still maintaining his displeased expression.
"I won’t see her from afar. I must see her up close and maybe just touch her too," he replied.
Raymond cleared his throat and Ruthlyn smiled slightly, when they heard the latter part of his sentence.
"Your touching, hmmm, will it exceed hugging?" she inquired, the corner of her lips twitching teasingly.
"No. I won’t even hug her," Ethan replied.
"That’s still great then. Can I borrow your black card, please? You will get it back from Shikera by six this evening."
"Why will he give that to you? Something as precious as a black..." Raymond chuckled, the laugh disappearing when he saw Ethan hand the card over to Ruthlyn.
"Is this really worth it? You will see her in a week or so?" he wondered out loud.
Ethan waited until Ruthlyn was out of the room before replying,"I just noticed you have a good brain, Raymond, and I also remembered that Miss Leigh signed that contract only so that she can visit Shikera, and not you."
"Sir..."
"That should not be a problem, right? But until Shikera comes back home, you will be with me 24/7. And if there’s any errand you have to run, that would be under my supervision."
"I’m sorry," was the only sentence Raymond could manage to muster, knowing there was no way he would be forgiven. The Ethan with Shikera was already hard enough to offend, how much more the Ethan without her, who was being particularly menacing and snappy.
"You can leave," Ethan said, ignoring Raymond’s apology. "When it’s about an hour to five, ask Ruthlyn where I am to meet her and prepare the car. You won’t be leaving with me."
"Alright, Sir."
He walked out of the room and only came back when it was five, exactly the time Ethan had asked him to come.
"Did you ask?" Ethan asked.
"Yes, Ruth said she will be meeting you at home since you will most likely be watched if you meet in any other place."
"Did you get the car ready?" Ethan asked again.
"Yes Sir."
Ethan rose from his seat and picked up his coat and tie, which had been lying in awkward positions on his table. He wore his facemask and walked out the office, leaving Raymond behind.
"He should be happy for the whole of this night, right? That means I can at least escape for tonight."
With that thought in mind, he rushed out of the office to meet Enoch.
"Hey! When last did you and Ruthlyn enjoy a couple’s date?"
"What?" Enoch was startled, having not seen the question coming.
"Give me the car keys and I’ll help you guys find an excuse for Ethan. You two should go on a date and a bike ride too," Raymond coerced. His eyes caught the car key lying right beside Enoch’s finger on the table and he grabbed it.
"Enjoy yourself for tonight, Enoch! There won’t be another chance for the next week!"
Then, he sprinted away from the secretaries office.
Enoch could only stare at his retreating back, wondering if this was the men support men trend.
His brother in-law was helping him in the troubles he was facing in his relationship. How lucky Enoch DeLoach was.
