Chapter 183: Coach warmer.

"Woah..."

At first, Shikera thought she was the one who had said that, since there was no reason for Skyler who was the owner of the house to still be surprised by the interior of her own house.

But when she recognized the voice, her head turned slowly to stare at Skyler. Even though there was nothing to suspect Skyler of, she still felt the girl was acting suspicious.

"What?" she questioned, her brows raised doubtfully at her friend.

"Uh?!" Skyler jolted. She delivered the excuse sitting on the tip of her lips,"It’s just that I designed this house so well that I can’t help but be wowed everytime I enter the house. No one would believe I eat, sleep, and live here." She chuckled nervously, trying to ease the rising tension in the air.

Shikera didn’t bother to answer her, and instead allowed her eyes to wander around the living room. The first thing she liked about the living room was the white couch which looked exactly like the one at Ethan’s villa.

’No, Kera," she berated herself, ’Don’t you dare compare anything here to Ethan’s!’

If she wanted to move on, then she had to forget everything about him, even though his face was all her lazy brain could think of, whenever she was less busy. Just like now...

All this was not supposed to happen, right? She was sure she didn’t love Ethan that deeply...or did she?

She snapped out of her thoughts, stopping herself from thinking about Ethan, and her eyes went to the next thing she liked about the living room. The purple walls.

"Do you like the color purple, Sky?" she asked, and Skyler, who did not know why Shikera had asked the question, answered truthfully.

"Not really. But this walls makes it look like it’s the best color in the world. Why do you ask?"

"Nothing. I just thought you painted the wall like that because it’s your favorite color," Shikera replied. She left her luggage in the middle of the living room and walked to the kitchen, and from there to the store. Then she walked towards the hallway, only pausing to ask Skyler,

"Where’s your room? So I can exclude that from the rooms I’m going to chose from."

"The first one on the right," Skyler answered, praying inwardly that the room was a beautiful one that would not require her to redecorate it. Not like she was expecting that though, not after seeing how the living room was extravagantly furnished. She was still wondering why Shikera had not asked her how she got the money to get this kind of house.

Shikera settled for a room in the far end of the hallway, one which was painted in a creamy yellow color. It made her feel like she was in Esther’s room, and that relaxed her a bit.

"Jeez, I didn’t know someone as social as you can actually bear to stay in a house for two whole days without seeing the beautiful sky outside."

Shikera ignored Skyler’s words, another one of her numerous attempts to get Shikera out of the house for the past two days. She kept her gaze trained on the book in front of her, even though the words were just bouncing off the pages in her eyes.

Skyler continued,"And why are you so glued to that couch?! Should I just take a video of you right now and tell Spotlight fans that their anchor is a couch warmer?"

Shikera slammed the book shut, standing up to approach Skyler.

"Being a couch warmer is not a sin, Sky. Your nagging is beginning to make me feel like I’m living with a grandma," she complained.

"But..."

"No buts! Wasn’t this house supposed to give me the same feeling I would get if I stayed in an hotel? Why does it look like I’m in a bar or clubhouse instead?"

She didn’t wait for Skyler’s retort before quickening her steps to the kitchen. She opened the refrigerator and took out some cooking ingredients, which she had shopped for herself.

"Are you learning how to cook again?" Skyler asked from behind her. Shikera had been following YouTube instructions on how to cook strange meals this past few days, and it was beginning to bother Skyler.

Who eats food that barely has any seasoning?

"I am. And if you won’t assist me, you can help yourself out of the kitchen," Shikera replied.

"And give you the opportunity to burn down my kitchen? Sorry, but even an hotel would not allow you use their kitchen without supervising you," Skyler refused.

Shikera didn’t say anything else, paying utmost attention to what she was doing, and the kitchen automatically fell silent.

"Why do you even cook this strange meals without seasoning?" Skyler suddenly asked, causing Shikera’s to stop what she was doing to look at her.

"What did you just ask me? You called these strange meals?"

Skyler nodded confidently,"Aren’t they strange?"

"Who cooked the meals you served me since I started living here?"

"Me, of course. Why do you ask?" Skyler asked tentatively.

"Because you called a sample of the very meals you made for me, strange. This is only because you did not make it by yourself. Stop lying, Sky, and tell me who made it," Shikera insisted. She stood in front of Skyler, maintaining eye contact with her so she would be able to know if she was lying to her.

"What’s are you saying? I cooked it myself, Kera. Is it because your breakfast, lunch and supper is always ready before you come out of your room? I really made it." Skyler found it hard to keep up with the hard gaze being leveled at her, but when she thought of how angry Ethan DeLoach would be if Shikera found out, she found it effortless.

However, Shikera could not believe her.

"Wait...was it Noah?" she asked.

"Noah?" Skyler was confused. Did Ethan DeLoach bear another name, which was Noah?

Shikera sighed. "Don’t act clueless, Skyler. Noah is my brother and he’s the one who asked you to do this, right? How is he possibly sending all this things here though? He’s supposed to be out of the country," she wondered.

"It’s true. Hmm...Noah asked me to do this."
