The Faceless Billionaire Celebrity Wife-Chapter 185: Black Card.
Shikera was in her room, doing what she had been doing whenever she was bored this past few days. Reading books that centered on the best spots to travel to without friends and family.
She would look at her bank account balance every now and then, use her calculator thereafter, and then turn the pages of the books. She needed to check out all the options she had before choosing the cheapest of them all.
Suddenly feeling thirsty, Shikera threw her phone aside and rose up from the bed to walk of her room. She headed to the kitchen to pick out an orange juice bottle, which was becoming her favorite drink this days because it was cheap and healthy.
Skyler was not in the living room and Shikera presumed she was in her own room, so she didn’t bother calling out to her to ask where she was. However, when Skyler came running out of her room the very next minute with worry written all over her face, Shikera knew she had to bother.
"What’s wrong?" she asked lightly.
"Nothing much, I just received a call from Cyprian now and..." Skyler trailed off, her voice hesitant.
"Did something happen to her?"
"No, she said she called you but you have not been picking her calls," Skyler replied.
"Oh, my phone is probably on its airplane mode. Since there’s no one to call me, I didn’t think there was any reason for me to keep it accessible. Why did Cyprian call though?" Shikera knew Cyprian well enough to know that she would not go ahead to call Skyler, except she had something urgent to say. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
Skyler hesitated before answering,"That’s kind of confusing. She says your husband lost his black card and thinks you took it with you when you left home."
"What?!" Shikera exclaimed. It was alright for them to think she would lack money but not to that extent! How could they bring her so low, thinking that she stole his card?
"That’s...what she said," Skyler whispered, avoiding Shikera’s gaze. Of course, Cyprian was not the one who told her that but Ruthlyn.
"Should I just meet them and give a piece of my mind?" Shikera wondered out loud, stamping her feet as she walked to her room.
"How could I take his card, huh?!" she asked herself, picking up her bag and rummaging through it. Even though she was sure she did not take the card, she still wanted to do this vent the anger brimming in her heart.
"Does he think I lack money?! I worked too! I was not just an heiress but I worked and I have my own money!" she yelled, talking to no one in particular as she was still alone in the room.
She picked up her bag, poured out all the contents to the floor, and scoffed when she didn’t find any card in it. Next, she walked to her luggage box and opened it. The clothes had been emptied in the closet so she just pushed her hand in the smaller compartment, expecting to find it empty when...
Shikera knew the feel of that cold, black metal against her hand. It was part of what made The Mega families black cards, different from every other cards.
’I clearly remember giving that Elizabeth mine,’ she thought, pulling the object out.
She flipped the black card she brought out, over in her hands and her eyes caught it. The E.D initials at one end of the card.
Slowly, Shikera felt herself falling back onto her bed. How did this thing get into her bag? She was sure she returned it to Ethan after that day she stole it to go shopping with her friends, right? She could remember she confessed to Ethan after then and he did not mind one bit...he collected his card then, right?
From thinking about how the card got to her, Shikera began to worry about how she would get it back to Ethan. She could not send Cyprian because no matter how close they were, she was sure they was no way her friend would not suspect her. Not to talk of Ethan, Ruthlyn, Raymond, Enoch and...jeez! What if that Elizabeth caught wind of this too?! Everyone would think she was a thief.
Cradling her head in her hands as she ignored an upcoming headache, Shikera began to rack her brain for ideas. And the only way she came up with was to deliver it herself, and convince Ethan personally that she did not take it.
Deciding on that thought, she walked into the bathroom to take her bath and change her clothes. In a bid to look as perfect as she could in front of Ethan, she decided to touch up her face with a little bit of make up.
She wore a black blouse with faded denim trouser, ending her look with black heels. One would think she was actually going for a date.
After she was satisfied with her look, she picked up her sling bag with her phone, car key, and the black card in it, and then walked out of the room.
Two hours later...
Shikera glanced at her watch and saw that it was already thirty minutes past five, and she asked herself why she had come early for the umpteenth time. She knew Ethan would not be back for another hour or two, but she decided she would still wait.
"I should see Esther too before leaving," she murmured under her breath, adding another excuse to the list of excuses she already thought of, that would be useful if Ethan asked why she had waited so long to see him.
Just then, she heard the sound of an approaching car and looked in the side mirror of her car to see Ethan’s car approaching. Stiffening, she straightened herself but didn’t alight from the car. She felt like her butt was glued to the car seat.
The approaching car came to stop right in front of hers, and Esther got down almost immediately.
"F*ck! It’s probably Enoch that went to pick her up," Shikera murmured, disappointment written all over her face. It turned out Ethan was not in the car, since she had never seen him pick up Esther from school. It was always Enoch or Ruthlyn, and other times when the rest of them were busy, Hazel.
All of a sudden, her breath caught in her throat as the door of the car in front of her opened. She squinted her eyes as if to make sure that she didn’t make any mistake with the person who got down from the car.
It was Ethan!
Shikera knew this was the moment she was supposed to alight from the car and return the card to Ethan. Then she would explain herself and then leave, but she couldn’t move.
She was just so enthralled at the side view of his face that was exposed to her eyes. His ruffled black hair, coupled with his shirt which was missing it’s first four buttons, made it look like he was intentionally seducing her.
But that idea died in her mind when he just followed Esther into the house, without even sparing a glance at her car that was behind his. How could he seduce a person he didn’t know was there? And why did he not notice her car? Was she that insignificant in his eyes that he did not even remember something so prominent about her?
The front door closed right before her eyes and she sighed, detesting the way she was feeling right now.
"If I join him inside now, my reason is valid enough, right?"
She nodded in answer to her own question and picked up her bag, alighting from the car with a small smile on her face. She could not frown and show Ethan that she was not feeling well, right? Plus Esther was also in the house.
Within seconds, Shikera found herself standing in front of the door with her hand hanging in the air. Should she knock...or not? Even she was already getting annoyed by the number of questions she had to ask.
With that, she placed her hand on the hand scanner and took a deep breath when she heard the door click open. Her info was not deleted yet.
She stepped into the house as quietly as she could and removed her shoes, looking up to see Ethan standing just a few steps away from her, and staring straight at her.
Shikera frowned at how intense his gaze was on her, and she wondered if he would ask what she was doing here next.
"What’s the—"
Her mouth was clamped shut by his, and she felt her bag falling from her hand to the ground. Slowly, her eyes widened from shock closed themselves as she allowed herself to be sucked deep into the passionate kiss Ethan was engulfing her in.
She needed him.
