The Ex-Wife's Revenge: Rise of the Real Heiress.-Chapter 193: Daniel’s father and stepbrother
Daniel looked through the messaging app with the help of the man who had retrieved the data, reading the messages one by one.
"Did you reach safely?"
"What did you eat tonight?"
"I ate sushi with the crew."
"The drama is going alright."
"This investigation would be the death of me. They are troubling me daily."
"I miss you already. How dare you confess to me and then leave the next day? What am I supposed to do with this overthinking now?"
"I hate you for making me feel like this!"
"Why are you not replying?"
"Are you alright?"
"The drama is going to be released. Will you see the episodes when you are free? Don’t get jealous if men go for this beauty."
"Hey. Did you kill Sean’s father? What’s going on?"
"You are starting to scare me now."
"Don’t make me want to come there and smack your head."
Daniel smiled with tears in his eyes as he read the messages one after the other. Some confused him, some made him smile, while some made him wish she were here and he could kiss her.
Every message was a display of how much she missed him, loved him, and wanted nothing more than to be in his arms.
And he was no better. He wanted to do the same.
The thought of how much she yearned for him, and he couldn’t be there for her when she needed hi,m made him curse the person who planned this attack.
As he kept reading the messages, the last message made him look at his people in confusion.
"I waited for you to return, and this is what you gave me?"
Daniel looked at Alen and showed him the last message. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
"What’s going on?" He asked.
Alen thought for some time. He looked at the timing and then put two and two together.
"Maybe she is angry because we released the news of the collaboration that we had finalized that day recently, and she didn’t hear the news from you? She must be thinking you ignored her," Alen said, and Daniel hummed.
That was definitely something Elara would do.
"Arrange for a handset for me immediately," Daniel said before he thought of what to reply to her.
"Can I reply here?" He asked the man, who nodded, and he swallowed hard before smiling.
"Wait for me," he typed the message and was about to hit send when his subordinate walked inside.
"Sir, your father is here to meet you," the subordinate said.
Everyone in the room froze at the news. Daniel’s father? Senior Macros? Why was he here?
Daniel immediately set the laptop aside, not bothering to close the flap completely, his gaze turning dark as he looked at his people, who quickly shook their heads in denial to let him know they hadn’t leaked the information about him being in the hospital or the accident.
Daniel sighed and massaged his forehead.
"Tell him I am resting. No, wait. Tell him I am still in the coma." Daniel leaned back in his bed.
"Now that won’t be a good thing to say to shoo your father away when he is already here to see you." A gruff voice resounded from the entrance, and Daniel suppressed the urge to clench his fists.
His body tensed at the sight of the man, and Alen immediately nodded to their men to exit the VIP ward.
Sylvia walked into the corner of the room, ready to attack anyone who would make things problematic for her boss.
"What are you doing here?" Daniel asked, his gaze unwelcoming.
"Can a father not come to see his son?"
"Not the one who abandoned his son long ago. No. He can’t," Daniel said, holding his father back in his place with his steel-like gaze.
The man stopped a few feet away from the bed, his gaze dark and unpredictable. After all, it was in Macros’ blood running through his veins.
"That’s not a nice thing to say to your father, who has come to see you because he was worried sick about you," Another voice chimed in.
Alen coughed loudly to hide his surprise.
Wasn’t this the same stepbrother they said had succumbed to the drugs because of some unknown reason?
"I didn’t know my hospital room said free entry for the beggars." Daniel tilted his head.
The man who entered last smirked before he walked to Daniel’s bed, unfazed by his glare.
"How are you doing, man?" Ashton asked, knowing all too well how much Daniel hated being called "brother" by him.
After all, his presence alone was a living example of his father’s betrayal of his mother.
Though Daniel hated his father because of what he did and how he abandoned him later after his mother died to go live with his other family, he didn’t hate Ashton as much.
After all, it wasn’t his fault that he was brought into this world.
"Get lost," Daniel said before he looked away.
"Daniel, he is your brother. Be nice," Daniel’s father, Brandon, said.
Daniel arched his brows before he smiled and nodded.
"Let me rephrase it then. Take your sorry ass and your father out of my room, Ashton," Daniel smirked, his defiance making his father even angrier.
"Don’t forget that the Macros’ name that you are so proud of was given by me," Brandon seethed through his teeth, and it was Daniel’s turn to chuckle.
"Father, are we in some kind of confusion here? I was happily ready to take my mother’s surname. It was my grandfather who asked me to keep my surname. I brought the Macros’ empire to what it is today." Daniel smiled before he chuckled.
"You and your illegitimate family are so proudly reaping the benefits of my hard work. Never in history has a son banished his father from the family name, or I would’ve done that long ago. Would’ve been good for the peace of my grandfather’s soul," he said.
Ashton, who was walking around, completely unfazed since he never interrupted the fight of the two men, looked at the half-closed laptop and walked to it.
He opened the laptop to see what Daniel was reading, but only got a blurry image before Alen took it from his hands.
"I am sorry, sir. I should send the laptop for repair," Alen quickly muttered a lie before he left the room.
Brandon, who had actually come to discuss the division of assets and profit to Ashton from the recent meeting, gritted his teeth.
It looked like right now wasn’t the best time to talk about it.
"Ashton, let’s leave. Our goodwill is not welcome here," Bradon said to the man who was still standing in his place as if frozen.
Ashton snapped out of his thoughts and looked at Daniel meaningfully before smiling and nodding.
"Till later, brother," Ashton said to deliberately anger Daniel before he smirked and left with Brandon following him.
As soon as the two were out of sight, Daniel took a deep breath, throwing the pillow across the room.
The action made the IV rip from his hand, and Sylvia quickly rushed forward and called the doctor.
"Sir, please don’t be angry. It will only reopen your wounds if you act like that," Sylvia cried out, and the man gritted his teeth.
No. He couldn’t afford to stay in this hospital for longer. He needed to go and see his woman.
