The Demon Emperor was Saint Emperor-Chapter 66: Flying Back
After handling the underground lair, Lynn instructed the jittery workers, who didn’t dare to leave casually, to start working.
Beneath this mass grave lay the secret base of a Necromancer. However, whether it was for concealment or because they didn’t lack resources, they hadn’t moved the bones above.
With plenty of manpower and everyone eager to finish as quickly as possible and leave, it only took two and a half hours to properly arrange the exposed bones in the desolate countryside.
Lynn, along with Little Youli, specifically found a quiet place for them. Although they couldn’t differentiate people for separate burials, the stonemason erected a village stele for their burial grounds.
Little Youli remembered each of their names, and she stood by the stele, calling out names one by one for the stonemason to carve.
After everything was busy and done, it was still not dark yet. The workers, having received their payment, regained their smiles and happily hurried back to the city.
Lynn specifically asked Little Youli if she wanted to go back to the village to take another look, but she shook her head, saying that the familiar uncles, aunts, grandpas, and grandmas were no longer there, and that village was now someone else’s village.
Xiya and Catherine were preoccupied with the matter of the underground lair and didn’t want to stay outside any longer, so the group simply drove back to Victory City. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
They had left at noon, and by the time they returned to Victory City, it was already dusk. While the sky was still light, Lynn went with Xiya to the administrative hall of Victory City to report the discovery of the Necromancer’s traces.
Because of Xiya’s high reputation in Victory City, her report quickly attracted attention from the City Lord’s Mansion, and a troop was swiftly dispatched out of the city.
By this point, the situation was no longer related to Lynn and the others, even though Xiya was somewhat worried that there might be scattered Necromancers nearby that hadn’t been exterminated. But the authorities had already taken over the matter, and it wasn’t the job for a dignified Saint Tier expert.
"Let’s head home first; we’ve been out all day, and we don’t know if Little Yuna has eaten properly."
Breakfast was eaten with Little Yuna, but luncheon was settled outside, and they hadn’t been able to attend to her. Now that it was getting late, if they didn’t return soon, they really didn’t know if Little Yuna would have anything good to eat.
"Let’s go, don’t let the child wait too long."
Upon hearing Lynn’s words, Xiya nodded. Although Victory City was her most familiar city, it was no longer her home. The Lin residence in Celestial Destiny City wasn’t really her home either, but it was indeed where she felt most comfortable staying.
Rushing towards the Teleportation Array required driving through the city. Lynn, still a beginner, lacked the necessary skills at this moment, so Catherine straightforwardly grabbed the whip and took charge of driving outside the carriage, leaving the carriage interior for Lynn’s small family of three.
However, with children around, Lynn couldn’t possibly take the opportunity to be intimate with Xiya, and even without the children, the two of them wouldn’t be able to get cozy.
Nevertheless, Catherine’s goodwill couldn’t go to waste, so Lynn didn’t let the child sit in the middle but positioned himself at the center.
On his left was adorable Little Youli holding his arm, and on his right was the beautiful Xiya, whom he shamelessly snuggled up to. This riding experience was so perfect that he wouldn’t trade it for being an Emperor.
Yet, the wonderful journey was always so short. Even if Catherine intentionally slowed down, the Teleportation Array wasn’t far enough away, and they arrived quickly.
Then, Lynn’s previously decent mood was completely disrupted by the noise outside.
"Why is the teleportation to Celestial Destiny City closed? I’m in a hurry to get home!"
"I’m out traveling, and I’m not allowed to go home?"
"Under whose order did you arbitrarily close the teleportation channel? I’m going to complain to Marquis Wayne!"
Even without getting off the carriage to inquire, just from the complaints and reprimands within the crowd, the situation was made very clear.
"Stupid Emperor." ×3.
Lynn, Xiya, and Catherine muttered in unison.
Then, the two of them and the elf exchanged glances, seeing the look of helplessness in each other’s eyes.
How did someone of his intelligence and courage become Emperor?
Were the previous Princes really so uniquely unremarkable that they let him ascend the throne...?
It’s not too much to ask you to understand some politics, military, and strategies, but at least act like a normal person with a brain!
Is he so afraid of top-tier experts that he’s become intellectually disabled, mentally unstable?
Alright, fine, you want to play this way, then I’ll really have to play along with you!
"Forget the carriage, I’ll fly us back. Uh... does anyone know the way?"
Lynn spoke with an unchanged expression, not wanting the children to notice anything amiss in his mood.
Victory City and Celestial Destiny City, separated only by a World Tree, were neighboring cities. Given Lynn’s flying speed, they could take off now and still return by nightfall.
He just wasn’t familiar with the route without a systematic map guide, being heavily reliant on the Teleportation Array and Town Recall Scrolls, especially when part of the journey was at night.
"I know the way. I often lead trainees on expeditions all around."
Seeing the bewildered expression on Xiya’s face, Catherine immediately raised her hand proudly.
And then, Catherine regretted it...
Once the carriage was out of the city, Lynn released the horses, abandoned the vehicle, and, following Catherine’s guidance, soared into the sky with the three girls.
This time, Lynn didn’t use the angel wings appearance but opted for a pair of mighty eagle wings. Though they didn’t actually increase flight speed, flying without wings felt a bit strange to Lynn.
"You never mentioned that guiding you would involve lying on your back!"
At that moment, Lynn was embracing the thrilled Little Youli, with Xiya, expressionless, by his side, enjoying the company of his wife and kids, indifferent to any issues Catherine might have with lying on his back.
Moreover, even if he did notice, he wasn’t planning to heed any of Catherine’s opinions. With her mature figure resting on his back, yet another perk; after all, he carried her wordlessly on his back.
If not for being concerned about Little Yuna and Vivian back in Celestial Destiny City, Lynn wouldn’t mind flying a bit longer. But once someone has attachments, they can’t indulge in such whims.
At this moment, Lynn could only be thankful he never had a steed; otherwise, he wouldn’t even have the chance to fly in this stack formation, and who knows which young female dragon would get off easy.
Thinking of young female dragons, Lynn couldn’t help but recall Princess Helena. She had an appointment with him at 6 o’clock, but it seemed things were running late...
Oh well, she isn’t my wife, at least not yet, so standing her up for a bit doesn’t matter.
Time passed unconsciously, with Catherine on Lynn’s back trying to keep her posture straight and avoid too much contact with him, though occasionally leaning over to relieve a sore back.
Luckily, Lynn behaved honestly all the way, with no sudden stops or bumpy flying.
His flight speed was fast, even rivaling that of a Giant Dragon, and finally, as the sky truly darkened, the majestic and expansive Celestial Destiny City appeared in their sight.
