Chapter 205: Meeting Dante

’My ears are ringing.’ Anastasia dug into her ears while waiting for the food.

Braham had yelled at her for so long that she had almost lost her hearing. She understood that he was a bit concerned, but he didn’t have to scream continuously!

Just how strong was his throat for him to keep screaming like that without feeling tired?

Regardless, Anastasia was free from him now.

She didn’t really convince him to let her go, she just made him accept the reality. She had already accepted the mission and he couldn’t do anything about that.

’I feel some guilt... but I can’t do anything about that. He has done so many things to me already and he should let me help.’

BAM!

Cutting off her thoughts was a giant entering her cell with two plates, which he immediately dropped to the floor.

"One to you and the other to him. You accepted the mission willingly, so we won’t urge you so much. You have one hour, and for your own safety, don’t spend a lot of time next to him. Try to finish your job as fast as possible." 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮

Anastasia nodded to what the guard said word by word. She didn’t want to risk her life, especially after everything Braham had told her, so she was going to listen to him.

And after eating her meal, she held the second plate and went toward Dante’s cell.

She only had to feed him quickly and leave. There was nothing complex about that.

¢¢¢

’Oh, it’s really bad.’

In Dante’s cell, Anastasia narrowed her eyes while seeing Dante’s chained body.

Just like Braham said, he was pinned by 4 spears and wore a mask that tore through his face, which was supposed to prevent him from making any charming facial movements.

But there was a small difference.

For some reason, the chains were more than Braham had originally told her, as if they were added just recently.

’Maybe it’s because his monthly boost is going to happen soon.’

The guards were likely adding extra things for the time when he’d break the collar. He wasn’t supposed to be able to escape, but more chains wouldn’t harm anyone.

However, as Anastasia stepped closer to him, she suddenly froze, getting hit by a surge of complex feelings.

"Oh, another unlucky prisoner? I think it’s the first time we’ve met." Dante spoke casually, ignoring the injuries caused by his mask: "Ah... will you be generous enough to feed me, please?"

His words went into one ear and left from the other one. Anastasia was barely keeping her breath steady while looking at him.

After a few seconds, she finally shook her head and continued moving toward him.

’The face ability is real.’

Even with his face in such a state, she still couldn’t look at him and say it was an unpleasant sight.

That confirmed it immediately.

And for some reason... she stole a few glances at his right eye.

’That’s strange...’

Both of his eyes were deep black. Why was she focusing only on his right eye? Was that related to the charm ability? Something like having a more handsome side?

"That’s similar to the ability of the lust demons." Charis spoke suddenly, getting Anastasia’s attention: "But as they said, he isn’t supposed to be a demon."

"Also, the hair that isn’t becoming longer alongside his regeneration is close to envy, wrath, and greed. All three of them can give similar abilities."

"How did he get that? Is this just a coincidence?"

Charis seemed to be in deep thought, and Anastasia couldn’t understand what she meant.

’Isn’t it impossible for a demon to have two bloodlines? The stronger would simply devour the weaker. How can you tell me now that he has two abilities from different bloodlines and he’s a human?!’

"I don’t know." Charis sighed: "They might be his personal abilities and just happened to be similar.... But you have to stay cautious."

After a second, Anastasia finally stood before Dante, her body trembling only slightly as a sign of discomfort.

At the same time she was distracted by her bird, Dante was dealing with a centipede.

"Hahaha! It’s her! It’s her! Oh, how I missed this woman. She can hide from everyone, but not from me!" Greed circled around Anastasia, scanning every single part of her body.

"I wonder where she is. Is she on her shoulder? Her head? Flying in front of her chest? Maybe walking behind her legs? Oh, should I slap a random place and wish to hit her?"

With no hint of embarrassment, Greed started to slap his tail everywhere like a whip.

"..."

Dante’s eyes twitched: "Did you lose your mind? Did you hit your nonexistent head while I wasn’t looking?"

"Huh?" Anastasia raised an eyebrow at his words, puzzled and mistaking them to be for her.

Just then, she noticed that he was looking at a spot behind her leg...

"...Huh?"

"He didn’t have a mind to lose to begin with. He’s just more stupid than usual." Aza hissed, her voice showing intense hatred toward Greed.

"Oh, that’s cruel of you two. I’m completely sane. It’s just that I’m seeing an old friend, so I’m happy." Greed explained cheerfully.

"Friend? Her?" Dante examined Anastasia’s face, ignoring her expression.

"She doesn’t look that old. How can she be an old friend?"

Ignoring her scars, she just looked like a woman that was a bit older than him. The only special thing about her was her eyes, which were... a bit familiar.

"A-are you okay?" Anastasia was becoming more uncomfortable regarding the injuries Dante caused to himself rather than her trauma.

She subconsciously raised her hand to heal him, only to remember the collar.

"Wait." Dante frowned: "Can you talk again? I think your voice is a bit familiar."

"I don’t think we’ve ever met." Anastasia denied the possibility instantly. If she knew such a person, Charis would have informed her.

Meanwhile, Dante finally recognized her.

"Oh, I see now. I remember you!" Dante’s smile widened, making Anastasia flinch: "You are the princess of the Holy Kingdom! Right? Right? I saw your father face to face and I’m sure you inherited his eyes."

What Dante felt from her was the same feeling he got upon looking at Zaragoza’s golden eyes. Subconsciously, he felt that their eyes were special in a way.

Additionally, he remembered her voice. He had heard her screams in the scroll that Valor had shown to Zaragoza to mock him. With his high Mind stat, remembering her voice wasn’t that hard.

He just didn’t expect to see her here.

"So you know me..." Anastasia scratched her head and prepared the straw.

She wasn’t happy that she was recognized that easily. Also, considering the time in which Dante was brought into this prison and the fact that he needed to hear her voice, she could guess how he recognized her.

Obviously, he saw the records...

"Why are you here? I thought you were so important for Valor." Dante asked curiously: "Last time I saw your father, he had to be stopped by a barrier not to fry Valor alive."

"You saw my father?!" Anastasia ignored Dante’s question and registered only the rest of his sentence.

"What did he do after I was kidnapped?"

"What was his reaction?"

"Did he reject Valor’s demands immediately or did he hesitate?"

"What about my mother?"

"Did Scarlett support him?"

"How..."

Anastasia kept asking Dante many different questions, not giving Dante a chance to respond to her.

No one in this prison knew about the state of the Holy Kingdom after Anastasia was kidnapped.

had been in the prison for years before she was kidnapped, and all the others, like Braham, were captured only a few months before she was kidnapped.

She didn’t know how her father reacted to that.

And now, Dante seemed to be the only one who had some information about her father!

"I think Valor finally got bored of her." Aza spoke suddenly: "Making her work in the prison is more beneficial than torturing her meaninglessly."

"I see." Dante nodded before looking at Anastasia: "Before anything, I’m Dante. It’s nice to meet you in my humble, beautiful cell."

Anastasia finally stopped asking questions and coughed awkwardly: "I’m Anastasia... I don’t think my name was famous. Most people just knew me as the youngest princess."

"Yes, the news never stated your name. And I didn’t care enough to ask my friend." Dante admitted casually: "Anyway, can you feed me first and ask after that? I won’t die simply for not eating, but filling my stomach makes me feel like a human."

’Feel like a human?’ Anastasia frowned as she analyzed his words.

’Does he mean that what the prison is doing to him, all the torturing and such, is making him feel less human... or is he not a human to begin with?’

"It’s possible." Charis confirmed her suspicions: "Did you forget that I could have hidden your race if I wanted? If I can, then anyone can with the right methods."

"And you’d better drop your questions unless they’re really necessary. Every word he speaks hurts him. Maybe he isn’t in his right mind to care about pain, but you should be better and care about him."

’Oh, sorry...’ Anastasia apologized: ’I was just excited.’

Anastasia smashed the bread into the green liquid and brought the big straw to Dante’s mouth.

And Dante only kept looking at Greed, who seemed to be experiencing his happiest moment in his relic life, during that process.

He was truly suspicious.
