I Pick Up Talents on the Interstellar Battlefield-Chapter 613 - 472: Steel Armor Knight Army
That day, a deafening roar echoed over the ice fields of Mingwang Planet.
The fleet of the 29th Army arrived as scheduled.
Dozens of silver-white military ships hovered like giant beasts beneath the clouds. The fierce wind and snow battered the hulls, leaving not a trace and unable to shake the ships in the slightest.
Soon after, the bottom hatches of the ships slowly opened, and beams of pale blue teleportation light projected onto the ground, like pillars connecting heaven and earth.
Dense figures gradually solidified within the beams, and the orderly sound of footsteps thunderously echoed across the ice fields—in just a few minutes, the entire force of a hundred thousand troops had descended.
The ranks of this army were distinct and commanding.
At the forefront was the Spiritual Warrior Army, soldiers draped in dark golden Spiritual Armor engraved with flowing runes, each wielding uniform alloy battle sabers with blades shimmering with a faint cold light.
To both sides of the Spiritual Warrior Army were the Spiritual Mage Army, mages dressed in magic robes embroidered with elemental patterns, gripping gem-encrusted magic staffs, and surrounded by faint elemental fluctuations of ice, fire, thunder, earth... various elemental auras intertwining to form an invisible energy barrier.
At the rear of the army stood the Empire’s renowned "Steel Armor Knight Army"—soldiers clad in nearly three-meter-tall black powered armor that resembled heavy metal cans yet exuded a sense of precision integration between technology and spiritual energy.
This armor, inspired by Stellar Armor designs, was equipped with heavy machine guns, palm cannons, and chain-swords, and housed an intelligent combat system. The helmet’s 360-degree radar scan could capture surrounding movements in real time, and the precision locking technology could target foes from a kilometer away.
More importantly, the armor’s surface was inscribed with dense spiritual energy runes, allowing it to absorb enemy energy attacks and buffer physical impacts with strong defensive capabilities.
While the Steel Armor Knight Army members were neither Spiritualists nor Superpower Users, each was an elite selected from the Empire’s major armies. After enhancement through genetic modification serums, their physiques far exceeded ordinary human limits, boasting strength, speed, and endurance comparable to an enhanced "Captain America."
Combined with powered armor, their individual combat strength was on par with Tier Three Spiritualists; when operating in formation, the combat prowess of one hundred Knights far surpassed that of one hundred individual Tier Three Spiritualists, capable of waging battle against even more than ten Tier Four Spiritualists.
The final teleportation beam landed, and the 29th Army officers appeared in orderly fashion. Standing in the center was a tall figure in a black military uniform, with a conspicuous gold star on his shoulder epaulet, his resolute face framed by slightly graying temples which added to rather than detracted from his battlefield-hardened authority—he was General Shen Qingyue, commander of the 29th Army.
"Seal the perimeter!"
Shen Qingyue’s voice wasn’t loud, yet it carried the power to pierce through wind and snow, reaching every soldier’s ears clearly.
The hundred thousand troops mobilized instantly, six mixed brigades quickly dispersing according to pre-arranged plans to the surrounding area of the Frozen Gateway, forming a circular blockade with a twenty-mile diameter. Spiritual Warriors maintained perimeter vigilance, Spirit Mages set up elemental barriers on the inner side of the blockade, and the Steel Armor Knight Army split into squads to patrol back and forth within the blockade, strictly preventing any suspicious persons from approaching.
Simultaneously, with the combined effort of ice and earth element mages, a five-meter-wide tunnel leading straight to the subterranean ice chamber of the Frozen Gateway was swiftly established, its walls reinforced by spiritual energy to prevent collapse.
Shen Qingyue stood at the tunnel entrance, his gaze sweeping over the neatly lined soldiers, speaking solemnly: "Secure the passage. No one is to set foot in without permission."
"Understood! General!" The soldiers replied in unison, their voices booming across the ice fields, declaring the Empire’s full control over the Frozen Gateway.
Shen Qingyue led a few army high-ranking officials as they slowly descended through the newly opened ice passage.
The tunnel walls, reinforced with spiritual energy, glimmered faintly blue, dispelling the underground darkness and cold.
After walking for about ten minutes, the space in front suddenly opened up.
An imposing Frozen Gateway appeared before them, its surface gleaming with pale blue ice crystal luster, and engraved with intricate, mysterious patterns like a flowing starry river.
Before the gate stood two straight ice pillars, etched with foreign ancient symbols emanating a solemn aura transcending time, compelling an involuntary sense of reverence.
"What a magnificent relic."
The chief of staff could not resist whispering in awe, while the other officers nodded in agreement, their expressions growing increasingly serious.
Mingwang Planet is one of the eight satellites of the Royal star, very close to the Royal star. Should any danger lurk within the Frozen Gateway, the consequences would be unimaginable.
They were acutely aware that this mission was not only to seal the site but to ensure that this ancient relic posed no threat to the Royal star.
Shen Qingyue’s gaze swept over the Frozen Gateway, his tone solemn: "Pass down the order, immediately widen the tunnel and establish a temporary command center in the ice chamber. I will personally oversee from here."
"Yes!" A subordinate quickly received the order, turned around, and briskly left to allocate personnel for the task.
Soon, the tunnel echoed with the sounds of soldiers transporting supplies and excavating ice, everything proceeding in an orderly fashion.
Meanwhile, atop a mountain peak on the ice fields, Inzaghi Luoho stood quietly, his gaze fixed intently on the direction of the 29th Army’s encampment.
Seeing the hundred thousand troops having completed their blockade deployment, he involuntarily clenched his fists, his knuckles turning white, and teeth almost gritting to the point of breaking.
