The CEO's Wife Is a Medical Master-Chapter 116: Be Careful
"Forget it!" Elise Langdon said breezily. "It’s just holding up a sign, what’s the big deal? I’ll just do it tomorrow! And don’t go back and beg her again. That will only make things more difficult for you."
Cara Preston sighed softly. "I’m so sorry. After all that trouble, I still couldn’t help you."
"It’s okay. You showed me what true friendship is today, and that’s more than enough!" Elise Langdon said with a smile.
Cara Preston’s gaze deepened. "There’s something I’m not sure if I should tell you."
"Is there anything we can’t say to each other?" Elise Langdon said, looking at her. "So just come out and say it!"
Cara Preston said softly, "Well, it’s like this... My sister has been trying all sorts of ways to seduce Nathaniel Nathan recently..."
"What!" Elise Langdon was furious. "She’s got some nerve! How dare she try to seduce Nathaniel Nathan!"
At No. 1 High School, there wasn’t a single girl who didn’t idolize Nathaniel Nathan. Elise Langdon’s family actually had a distant, convoluted connection to the Nathan Family. In terms of seniority, Elise could even call Nathaniel Nathan her cousin.
Elise Langdon had a crush on Nathaniel Nathan since she was little, and her greatest wish was to marry him when she grew up. So when she heard that Vera Xavier was trying to seduce Nathaniel, in her mind, there was no real difference between that and someone stealing her boyfriend.
With her temper, she wanted nothing more than to take a knife and chop Vera Xavier to bits!
Seeing her furious expression, Cara Preston was inwardly gloating, but she didn’t let any of it show on her face. Instead, she sighed and said, "I originally didn’t want to tell you this, but my sister has been getting more and more out of line lately. I just couldn’t stand by and watch anymore, so I had to tell you, just to give you a heads-up."
Elise Langdon was immediately overcome with gratitude. "Cara, thank goodness you told me. Otherwise, I would have been completely in the dark."
After speaking, she added menacingly, "Vera Xavier, you dare try to steal my Nathaniel Nathan? I’ll make you regret it!"
The corners of Cara Preston’s mouth curled into a slight smile. Thanks to Rona Langdon, Cara had already mastered the art of sowing discord.
Just then, Vera Xavier let out a huge sneeze. ’Who’s thinking about me now?’
Shirley Forrest, who was next to her, said, "That stepsister of yours is too calculating. You really need to be careful."
Vera Xavier nodded, then saw Shirley Forrest’s petrified expression. Puzzled, she turned her head and saw Nathaniel Nathan striding toward her with his long legs.
Vera Xavier’s first instinct was to hide behind Shirley Forrest. ’But he’s probably already seen me,’ she thought. ’It’s useless to hide. And from the look on Shirley’s face, she’s most likely one of his fangirls, too.’
She took a shallow breath, still hesitating on whether to greet him, when he walked right up and took the schoolbag from her hand. In that same cool tone, he said, "What are you doing standing here like a fool? Let’s go."
Vera Xavier still hadn’t processed what was happening, but he seemed to be getting annoyed. He grabbed her hand directly and said, "Can’t walk? Do you need me to carry you?"
"No!" Vera Xavier shook her head like a rattle drum. "I can walk on my own!"
With that, she hurried to keep up with Nathaniel Nathan’s pace. She knew Lord Nathan was a man of his word. You might think he was joking, but he could turn that joke into a reality in a heartbeat.
It was a risk she dared not take!
