The CEO's Wife Is a Medical Master-Chapter 115: A Scumbag
Cara Preston took a deep breath, having already made a decision. She knelt directly in front of Vera Xavier and said, "Sister, I’m begging you!"
Elise Langdon’s eyes were bloodshot. In her eyes, Cara Preston’s actions proved she was a true friend. Because she had knelt, Elise was now willing to do anything for her!
She pulled Cara to her feet and said, "Cara, stop begging her! She’s just a black-hearted scumbag!"
Crying, Cara Preston said, "Elise, if you’re really forced by my sister to do that, your dad will kill you!"
Then she turned to Vera Xavier and said, "Sister, I’m begging you! If you don’t let Elise go today, I’ll kneel here and never get up!"
Vera Xavier hadn’t expected Cara Preston to do this. Suddenly, she felt she’d underestimated Cara’s shamelessness and cunning. This single act of kneeling was enough to completely win over Elise Langdon while also making Elise hate her to the bone.
But she had never cared what they thought of her.
She hated this feeling of being strong-armed.
Shirley Forrest sneered. "Cara Preston, don’t be so dramatic. It’s just holding a sign. It’s not going to kill anyone!"
Then, she looked at Vera Xavier and said, "I don’t know what other people will think of you, but no matter what you decide to do today, I think you’re in the right."
Vera Xavier’s gaze deepened. She looked at Cara Preston and said, "Cara, I’m sorry, but I can’t do what you ask. And frankly, I’m deeply disappointed by what you’ve done today. I’m your sister, yet you’re trying to bully me like this."
Cara Preston was startled. Vera Xavier took a deep breath and said, "Besides, the entire class saw what happened today. They can all vouch for me. I haven’t done anything out of line. As for you..."
She leaned in close to Cara Preston and said, "I never knew you were so quick to get on your knees. To think you’d kneel for something so trivial. But I don’t need you to grovel before me. All I want is the fairness I’m owed."
After she finished speaking, she slung her backpack over her shoulder and walked out the door. School had already let out, so there was no need for her to stick around and waste time on Cara Preston.
The corners of Shirley Forrest’s mouth turned up. She glanced at Cara Preston and left her with a parting thought: "Too clever by half."
’Cara Preston couldn’t believe Vera Xavier had just left like that!’
’How could Vera just leave?!’
The other students in the class watched her, their expressions complicated.
Cara Preston overheard them whispering:
"I always thought Cara Preston genuinely had Vera Xavier’s back, but now it looks like I was wrong."
"Come to think of it, weren’t all those nasty rumors about Vera Xavier started by Cara Preston?"
"I bet Cara Preston got kicked in the head by a donkey. Why else would she help an outsider over her own sister?"
Elise Langdon roared at the group of students, "You’re the ones who got kicked in the head by a donkey! Your whole family got kicked in the head by a donkey!"
The students, not daring to provoke her, scattered in an instant.
Cara Preston remained kneeling on the floor, utterly dumbfounded.
Elise Langdon reached out and helped her to her feet, saying, "Cara, I only realized today just how good you are to me. Don’t worry! I’ll be sure to treat you well from now on!"
Cara Preston was feeling incredibly conflicted. She bit her lip and finally said, "Elise, I’m sorry. I had no idea my sister had changed so much... to completely ignore our bond as classmates."
