Chapter 63: Chapter 63: I Can’t Bear to Mar Her Face

"Ten thousand bucks, not a penny less."

Shawn Thorne raised his hand to touch her face; the watch strap wasn’t fastened, and the watch almost fell from his wrist.

"I’ll definitely give you the money, but how do you account for stealing?" Shawn obviously wasn’t willing to let it go.

The watch was taken from her, caught with evidence.

"Does Master Thorne want one of my hands, or ten slaps?"

"One hand is too bloody, besides, I’ll still need it for other things later..."

Before he finished speaking, a sharp sound pierced through the eardrums and rushed in.

Jasper Yale was the same, feeling a jolt in his heart. Yelena Hughes must have used all her strength; her lowered palm was red and swollen, the fingertips engorged with blood from the force, not to mention that face.

"Don’t let Chester do it, I’ll handle it myself."

Her right cheek was already numb from being slapped, her speaking tone was slurred, and several fingerprint marks appeared on her face.

Chester felt uncomfortable watching, even if she had to do it, she wasn’t willing to use such force.

Shawn looked at Yelena’s face; it was so calm, like a pool of stagnant water.

When she swung down another slap, he grabbed her wrist, "Enough."

Shawn blurted out, "Know your mistakes and correct them. I can’t bear to ruin such a beautiful face."

He pulled Yelena over, letting her stand beside him, with the other hand pressing her shoulder, showcasing her like merchandise to the people present.

"This is what happens when you steal from guests, take it as a warning."

Who is born with such thick skin? Gazes pierced her like sharp cold blades, and Yelena slightly lifted her eyelids, only to see Jasper’s cold face.

His eyes were full of grimness, if there had been any reluctance towards her before, what is it now?

Disgust?

Self-indulgence and helplessness can’t be compared.

"Young Master Yale, this time she didn’t want to go with you, I didn’t snatch her, can I take her away now?"

Jasper’s gaze was fixed on Yelena’s face, "How could I stand in the way of someone’s financial path."

She wanted money, she liked money, could he stop her from wanting it?

Shawn’s words carried a teasing tone, "Young Master, how about this? You pay more, I’ll give her to you first? I come here every day to have fun anyway, there will be plenty of chances to see Mimi."

Yelena thought carefully, how did she offend Shawn?

Clearly he locked her in the sauna, almost costing her life, yet now he’s hanging on to her, unwilling to let go.

Jasper didn’t glance at Yelena again, "Ten thousand is already a lot, raising the price? Should see if she’s worth it."

That pain in her heart wasn’t heart-wrenching, but it felt like someone pinched her flesh, twisting it left and right.

Shawn arrogantly took her away, Chester told the surrounding people to disperse.

She looked at Jasper standing there unmoved, "Young Master, Yelena really didn’t take Master Thorne’s watch."

"Did you take her in as soon as she returned?"

Chester felt a chill on her scalp, "This... it’s a decision she made herself; no one can do anything."

She observed Young Master’s expression, "I asked if she has any difficulties, I always feel she’s different from others..."

"Difficulties?" Jasper tasted these words, with the medicine ready, how much could she suffer? "They say The Sovereign Club’s Chester has a style like a man, decisive and ruthless, but I think otherwise. What, want to start a charity here?"

Chester swallowed all her trial words.

Yelena’s worry was indeed correct, such is Young Master Yale, cold-hearted and indifferent, helping her once was already good.

Now, perhaps he’s tired of playing, if Yelena told him about paying off the debt, what if Jasper refused to intervene, she’d die worse.

Shawn’s private room was right next to Jasper’s.

Separated by a wall, but with excellent soundproofing.

Yelena saw Shawn take out ten thousand bucks and place it on the table.

She glanced at it, her expression still serene, "Master Thorne, I want to sign an agreement with you."

"Is it necessary?"

"Yes," Yelena moved her gaze away from the pile of money, "If I pay off this hundred thousand, will you agree not to trouble me or Madeline Forest anymore?"

Shawn snapped his watch shut with a click, "A hundred thousand isn’t a small sum for you, how are you going to repay it?"

"Master Thorne has already paved a path for me, hasn’t he? I’ll earn it penny by penny at The Sovereign Club to pay you back."

Shawn looked at her with curiosity, even a common person facing such circumstances wouldn’t be able to bear it.

At least they’d cry and make a fuss, refusing to accept, how could she be so calm?

If I were you, I’d ask Young Master for it."

Yelena brought paper and pen, placing them on the tea table before Shawn, "Master Thorne, stop joking, didn’t you hear what Young Master just said?"

Even ten thousand wasn’t worth it, a million?

The look he gave her, she dared not dream that big.

Yelena leaned there, writing stroke by stroke, Shawn glanced at it, her handwriting was elegant, just like her, exquisite.

After finishing, she read through it from start to finish, it said roughly when a hundred thousand was raised, it’d be exchanged for the IOU, clearing all grudges.

Shawn grabbed it in his hand, "What if I don’t sign it?"

"Master Thorne, give a person some hope. At least I’ll know if I pay off this hundred thousand, I’ll be free. People can’t live without hope, you know that feeling, right? If you can’t see the end, no one can endure it."

Her tone was soft yet confident, she conceded to her fate, but you could see her unwillingness.

Shawn was just like bewitched, taking the pen from Yelena’s hand.

He signed his name, watching Yelena carefully store the paper.

"Don’t worry, Master Thorne, I’ll raise every penny and pay you back."

Looking at the swelling on her face, Shawn felt a strange sensation rise.

He wanted to see her crying and begging, wanted her to kneel and plead, but she didn’t do any of that, just gritted her teeth and bore the weight of that hundred thousand.

In the adjacent room, Jasper sat for a long time, and no one dared to enter to disturb him.

Hailey Jenkins pushed open the door, seeing Jasper holding a deck of cards, his movements were practiced, but suddenly he lost his temper, scattering the cards which bumped into the glass.

A glass of wine spilled out. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞

Hailey saw it, "Young Master, shall I call Miss Hughes over?"

"Don’t you find it dirty?" Jasper’s words were harsh, "Being held by other men, and still want to touch me?"

Hailey considered it might not sit well with him, "Maybe Miss Hughes encountered something?"

Jasper’s heart surged with unbridled anger, "I think she’s just grown fond of this place, quick money. But just a woman who’d do anything for money."
