CEO's Contract Obsession-Chapter 199: On One Condition
After sending their parents back to Anton’s penthouse, Anton, Roana, and Mary headed to Bellory Inc. for Roana to go through the recruitment process. Mary, still upset about the situation, left Anton in the HR Department.
As expected, Roana went through the application interview and impressed both the recruitment officer and Josephine. It became clear that she earned her position based on her qualifications and performance in the interview, despite being referred to the company by Anton.
Roana’s face lit up with joy when she saw Anton waiting for her outside the HR office. "I got in! Thanks to you and Mary."
"I think it would be more appropriate if you thanked her personally," Anton replied with a smile, and Roana nodded in agreement. "So, what position did they offer you?"
"I’ll be working as an HR Assistant. I’ll be closely supporting Ms. Josephine Hart. It seems like things will be quite chaotic once the branches open, so she really needs assistance," Roana explained, her excitement overshadowing any concerns about the workload ahead.
"So, are you going to start today?" Anton asked.
"No, not yet. Ms. Hart wants me to start tomorrow so I can focus on finding an apartment today. I truly appreciate your generosity, and I don’t want to take advantage of it. I guess I should go now. I’ll see you later?" Roana replied, ready to embark on her search for a new place to live.
With that, the two went their separate ways, each with their own thoughts and emotions about the events that had unfolded.
Anton decided to visit Mary first since he is already there, before going to his office.
"Anton, are you looking for Mary?" Sandra saw him look around Mary’s office which seems to be not there.
"Yes, I was going to invite her to lunch. Where is she?" Anton asked.
"She went to Henry’s..." Sandra pursed her lips trying to remember what Mary had told her. "I think she said something about clothes. But I was on the phone earlier so I really didn’t understand everything that she said. But she’ll be back after lunch."
Anton couldn’t help but wonder what Mary was doing at Henry’s mansion at this hour, especially when they had just arrived at the office. He speculated that it might be related to Amy, who possibly asked her to bring some clothes for later.
Anton found himself facing an exceptionally busy day, filled with a multitude of responsibilities and tasks. On top of his usual workload, he had to handle the absence of Henry, which added an extra layer of pressure. Additionally, he had to prepare for an upcoming press conference where he would address the media’s inquiries regarding the accident.
As Anton reviewed his packed schedule for the week, he couldn’t help but feel overwhelmed. The demands of his various roles and obligations seemed insurmountable, and he questioned whether he had enough time and energy to accomplish everything effectively. He wished he could clone himself, a humorous thought that highlighted the magnitude of his workload.
Next thing he knew office hours is over. It was only when his executive assistant went to him to say goodbye that he noticed the time. As much as he wanted to stay to finish more work, he couldn’t. He promised Mary to drive her to Henry’s mansion where she’s staying at the moment.
He made his way to Mary’s office and found a suitcase by her office door. The door was opened so he decided to go in and found Mary on her desk still signing some documents.
Anton approached Mary and inquired, "Is the suitcase intended for Amy?" He couldn’t help but wonder why Amy and Henry would require such a large amount of clothing when Amy was scheduled to return home the next day.
"No, they’re mine. I was simply waiting for you to come and pick me up. These documents are for tomorrow. Let’s get going!" Mary exclaimed with enthusiasm.
Confused, Anton asked, "Are you planning to sleep at the hospital then?"
"No, I’ll be staying at your house for a week," Mary proudly declared.
Surprised, Anton responded, "What?! Why? Not that I don’t like it, in fact, I love it!"
"What do you mean, why? Don’t you know? Because of Roana, of course! Do you think I would allow another woman to be in your house without me? In your dreams, Mr. Park! Now, let’s go!" Mary insisted, determinedly.
Anton couldn’t help but smirk, feeling thrilled that Mary would be voluntarily staying at his house, and he saw an opportunity in this situation. "Wait, hold on. It’s my house, so I have a say in this. It’ll allow you to stay with me for a week, but on one condition," he proposed.
"Say it," Mary replied tersely.
"You’ll stay in my room," Anton boldly stated.
"What?!" Mary exclaimed, taken aback by his unexpected condition.
"Well, you did mention that you’re staying because of Roana. But what if you stay in the guestroom and she comes to my room at night? Will you be able to stop her while you’re sleeping in the other room?" Anton struggled to maintain a serious expression, inwardly amused by his own petty excuse.
Mary paused for a moment, carefully considering Anton’s words. "You have a point. Alright, I’ll sleep in your room. But you will sleep on the sofa, got it?"
Anton simply nodded, still trying his best not to let a smile creep onto his face. He managed to maintain his serious demeanor until they arrived at his house.
Anton thought that it was his luckiest night of all until they went inside his penthouse.
The sweet aroma of honey-glazed pork barbecue and sauteed vegetables wafted through the air. Anton mentally nodded to give a bonus to his housekeeper for a job well done. It smells so good that they both quickly went to the kitchen only to find Roana cooking by herself.
They were both taken aback by the sight before them—a wide array of dishes laid out on the countertop.
Not pleased with what she saw, Mary abruptly left the dining area and headed straight for Anton’s room.
