Chapter 41: Chapter 41: She Is His Sacrifice

Surveillance, as long as Jasper Yale wants to watch, it’s just a matter of a word.

The Sovereign Club, such a grand venue, every corner is paved with money, and naturally, the surveillance footage is of the highest clarity.

Yesterday, Yelena Hughes once again had no earnings, which completely infuriated Henry Louis.

Afraid of causing a scene at the entrance, he dragged Yelena Hughes to the side of his car. Fortunately, it was still within the monitored area, so everything could be seen clearly.

Jasper Yale saw the man’s leather shoe kick Yelena Hughes hard on the leg bone. She stiffened, only stepping back lightly.

Henry Louis threw out something from his pocket onto the ground, and the previously motionless Yelena Hughes finally responded.

She lunged to pick it up, but Henry Louis kicked her in the shoulder. Her body faltered backward, but she quickly got up again.

"No!"

In the surveillance footage, this cry could be faintly heard.

Yelena Hughes was kicked down again. The footage replayed like a loop, back and forth several times.

Henry Louis stepped on the item on the ground, a perverse grin on his face, as if toying with a dog, playing with her.

"Do you want it? Crawl over here."

Yelena Hughes erupted almost instantly; her medicine couldn’t be ruined, couldn’t be treated like this. She seemed to see Anne Hughes’ life being trampled beneath someone’s foot.

Yelena Hughes lunged and clung to Henry Louis’s leg, punching and hitting, even biting.

The scenes rushed so vividly, Jasper Yale’s heart nearly pierced when Yelena Hughes grabbed the item, as if afraid of someone snatching it, and held it tightly in her palm.

Having suffered a loss, Henry Louis naturally wouldn’t let her off, "Okay then, if I can’t get money today, I’ll have a taste of you."

He grabbed Yelena Hughes by the collar, trying to shove her into the car, but she fought back desperately, finally struggling free.

Yelena Hughes ran fast, as if a ferocious beast chased her, but a car emerged in the footage, knocking her down.

The car wasn’t fast, but the impact was significant; she tried twice before getting up.

Hailey Jenkins looked at Jasper Yale’s face, icy and cold, feeling it even beside him, "Young master, it’s not clear in the footage what Miss Hughes took."

"Looks like that man comes every day."

Jasper Yale’s brows deepened, a suffocating hostility emanating, evoking terror, "Go and ask."

"Alright."

In the parking lot, Henry Louis wasn’t aware Yelena Hughes hadn’t come today. He was playing a game and looked up to find a car approaching.

Soon, he heard someone tapping on his car window, and when he glanced outside, he found Hailey Jenkins’s face somewhat familiar. "What do you want?"

"Get out."

Henry Louis opened the car door, and before he could speak, Hailey Jenkins dragged him out.

"Who are you? What do you want?"

Before Henry Louis could finish, his face was already pressed against the glass of the car beside him, Hailey Jenkins applying force, seizing his hair and harshly banging his head several times against the window.

Seeing Henry Louis subdued, Hailey Jenkins said, "Just answer what you’re asked, don’t conceal anything."

He yanked Henry Louis by the back of the head, making him lift it up as the car window lowered, revealing the distinct features of Jasper Yale’s face.

Henry Louis’s lips trembled in fear; what had he done to anger this young master?

Hailey Jenkins reached into his pocket, rummaging a bit before pulling out the medicine.

"Young master."

Jasper Yale gazed over, seeing the aluminum foil still embossed with the words ’Heart Protection Peace.’ He should have anticipated it; what else but this could break Yelena Hughes’s spirit?

Yet, Jasper Yale’s eyes still held shock, a trace of horror lurking beneath the surface. "Where did you get the medicine?"

At this point, Henry Louis dared not lie, "Miss Alden gave it to me."

"Nancy Alden?"

"Yes," Henry Louis swallowed, "I have nothing to do with any of this."

Jasper Yale sat in the car, the night wind piercingly cold, not even Hailey Jenkins knew what the young master was thinking.

"What did she instruct you to do?"

"Miss Alden just said to come every day for the money, it’s all mine. The medicine is given daily; if Miss Hughes wants it to live, she has no choice but to comply."

Jasper Yale’s collar was slightly ruffled as his tall body leaned back, his throat moved twice, yet he swallowed only bitterness.

It was a long time before Jasper Yale spoke.

"Tomorrow, you’ll still deliver the medicine, and say nothing in front of Yelena Hughes."

Though a bit puzzled by Jasper Yale’s words, Henry Louis nodded anyway, "Yes."

"And don’t let Nancy Alden know, keep everything as usual."

"Okay."

"Which hand did you use to hit her, and which leg to kick her?" Jasper Yale’s tone shifted, and Henry Louis quickly thought, "Mercy, young master, I’ll never dare again."

Understanding Jasper Yale’s implication, Hailey Jenkins naturally knew what to do next.

He dragged Henry Louis aside, sparing the young master’s eyes from filth.

Inside the car, the driver only felt the atmosphere stifling, like it was suffocating him; he sneakily glanced back, seeing Jasper Yale’s eyes layered with frost, menacing.

So, this is how it was. It was the dependency on medicine that kept Yelena Hughes obedient, repeatedly becoming a sacrifice.

No wonder she had to go to The Sovereign Club, no wonder she had scars, no wonder when called degenerate, despite the evident pain, she still had to go.

Losing control of one’s life is the original sin.

Hands clenched into fists, pressed against his forehead, Hailey Jenkins soon sat in the passenger seat. "Young master, where to now?"

"Back to The Summit Gardens."

Nancy had fallen asleep early and even had a good dream.

In the dream, her leg was completely healed, she could dance, run, while Yelena Hughes was locked in a big cage, suffering complete indignities, unable to voice her agony.

Nancy woke up with a start, the bedside lamp on, and when she looked over, she saw a figure standing there.

Startled, she gasped, "Ah—"

That face was familiar, but the expression was so dark, it felt strange.

"It’s me." Jasper Yale approached, bending over, "Had a nightmare?"

"You startled me." Nancy wanted to sit up, but Jasper Yale pressed her shoulder down, as she looked into his face, feeling something was off.

His smile didn’t reach his eyes, like it was feigned.

"Back so late again." She complained, reaching to hug him.

Jasper Yale leaned down, holding her tightly, "Have you been cooperating well with the doctor for acupuncture?"

"Of course." Nancy held him tight; he was the only man she ever wanted to marry, she wouldn’t let anyone else take him away, not even in dreams.

"Jasper, I love you so much." Nancy said, a blush coloring her cheek, nestling further into his embrace.

But all Jasper could think about was another face, the moment Yelena Hughes was hit by the car—it must have hurt badly. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮

Nancy sensed Jasper’s distraction, "What’s wrong?"

Jasper seemed uninterested, instead appearing somewhat indifferent. "Nancy, I need to ask you something."
