The Celibate Tycoon Has Fallen-Chapter 42: You Dare Touch My Woman?
"What’s the matter?" To say she wasn’t feeling guilty was impossible.
Nancy Alden had pushed someone into Hell, yet she was living comfortably every day. Aside from the fear of Jasper Yale finding out, she wasn’t afraid of anything else.
Jasper Yale was about to speak, but Nancy Alden probed with an innocent expression, "Hurry up and tell me."
Even if he asked, and she told the truth, what would he do?
When Jasper gave Nancy the medicine, he should have anticipated this scene.
From the moment he instructed Henry Louis to continue going to The Sovereign Club the next day as if nothing had happened, he had already made his choice.
He chose Nancy Alden.
"What do you want to eat tomorrow morning?"
"Is this what you wanted to ask me?"
Jasper responded lightly, "Yes."
Nancy Alden relaxed, unable to hide her joy, "There are so many things I want to eat. How did I get through the year I was in a coma? Jasper, if only the accident hadn’t happened, if only my parents were still alive."
"Before I was in a coma, you said you wouldn’t leave me, didn’t you?"
"Jasper, I’m afraid looking like this, you wouldn’t want me..."
Jasper watched as her smile turned into a pool of tears. Some things, even if Nancy Alden didn’t say them, he couldn’t forget.
A little over a year ago, when he learned of the Alden parents’ intention to jump off a building, Jasper wanted to send Nancy over.
But before they got in the car, a van crashed into them. When Nancy pushed Jasper away, it was as if she had sent herself into the gates of death.
She didn’t escape, getting severely injured on the spot.
Nancy always remembered that day, how her whole body ached while she lay on the cold ground waiting to die. Although Jasper said he’d do anything to save her life, she was still afraid.
The TV wall next door at Central Plaza interrupted its programming for breaking news, and she helplessly watched as her parents leaped from a high building. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
That was the last time she saw them.
Jasper wiped away the tears on her face, "How could I not want you? Never."
He understood clearly, he couldn’t leave Nancy Alden, couldn’t abandon her.
But just earlier, he almost turned his back on her because of Yelena Hughes.
How could a mere Yelena Hughes stir his feelings so chaotically?
The next day, Yelena Hughes went to work, covered in scratches, but thankfully without any broken bones.
She didn’t have any money and thought facing Henry Louis would be tough, but the man had suffered his own misfortune and wasn’t any better off than she was.
Henry Louis had a plastered leg and arm, leaning on crutches, barely hopping in front of Yelena Hughes.
"Here, medicine."
Yelena Hughes didn’t expect him to be so straightforward today, quickly grabbing the medicine, "I don’t have money to pay you."
Henry Louis wasn’t as aggressive as before; instead, he seemed rather afraid of her. But he had to follow the young master’s instructions, without making it too obvious.
"If you don’t get any money, I’ll be unkind to you."
Yelena Hughes took a step forward; Henry Louis jumped back as if seeing a ghost, "Stay away!"
There were surveillance cameras here, what if he got caught on tape hitting her again?
Henry Louis was already dealing with multiple fractures; would his limbs ever heal?
Watching the man’s hasty escape, Yelena Hughes wondered what he had gone through in the one day she hadn’t been there.
Jasper didn’t visit The Sovereign Club often, and most times, Yelena Hughes just sat or slept in a private room.
That day, as Jasper entered the venue, Madeline Forest turned to run at the sight of him, her guilty look practically writing ’I’m involved’ all over her face.
Hailey Jenkins stepped in to block her, Madeline Forest’s back pressed against the wall, her eyes evasive, "Hello, young master."
Jasper walked past her; Hailey Jenkins took Madeline along, only to find the room empty.
Jasper directly asked her for the person, "Where’s Yelena Hughes?"
"She..." Madeline Forest lacked the ability to lie to Jasper, "she’s in Room 420."
The air suddenly froze, and Jasper’s face went cold, "Who sent her there?"
The job had been introduced by Madeline Forest because it didn’t require drinking or flirting, and it paid well. She thought it was a good deal. She was afraid Henry Louis might trouble Yelena Hughes again and didn’t expect Jasper to show up today.
"I... I..."
Jasper quickly left.
Guests at The Sovereign Club were always up for a good time, especially in Room 420, where a perverted young master had been troubling people. What kind of courage did Yelena Hughes have to dare go there?
Jasper himself didn’t realize how fast he was walking, leaving Hailey Jenkins far behind.
At the door of Room 420, he didn’t even knock, but forced it open with a shove.
The lights inside had been turned into pillars, beams of red and green intertwined. Jasper took a few steps in; places where the light couldn’t reach were particularly dark, but where Yelena Hughes stood, the light flickered.
She had her hair pinned up and wore an old-style qipao with a high slit.
Jasper removed the hairpin from her head and smashed it on the ground.
Yelena Hughes hadn’t expected to get caught red-handed on her first day trying to earn some extra cash.
"Who are you pretending to be a ghost for?"
"Oh, young master, what brings you here?" The man on the sofa hadn’t stood up, his face young and handsome yet too pale, and even his voice was soft.
Jasper pulled Yelena Hughes over, his tone carrying hidden anger, "Shawn Thorne, you can play with others, but you dare lay a hand on my person?"
Shawn Thorne looked at Yelena Hughes with some surprise, "She’s yours?"
"From now on, open your eyes and see clearly."
The force on Yelena Hughes’s wrist tightened, and her small frame was close to being crushed.
Shawn Thorne couldn’t take his eyes off Yelena Hughes, "Isn’t she a hostess here? Young master, isn’t having Nancy Alden enough?"
The two were familiar with each other’s business within their circle. Jasper had placed Yelena Hughes here to keep her from mixing with these messy people, but she went ahead anyway!
"Do I need to report to you about the number of women I have?"
Jasper’s tone was hostile as he pulled Yelena Hughes to leave.
The man on the sofa moved, clutching Yelena Hughes’s right hand, "Young master, let me have her, no matter what you wish in exchange."
Shawn Thorne held on tightly, not willing to easily let go of such a perfect fit.
"Trade her for your life, how about it?"
"What a joke, if I were dead, what would I need her for?" Shawn Thorne raised an eyebrow, "How valuable is a hostess?"
Yelena Hughes seemed immune to such words.
Yet Jasper knew how awful those two words sounded. "She’s not a hostess."
"Not? Then what is she doing here?" Shawn Thorne continued to press, "Even if you want a gilded cage, you can’t hide it in a place like this."
Jasper pushed off the man’s hand as if a precious... treasure he had hidden was being coveted and targeted, a feeling truly uncomfortable.
Regardless of who Shawn Thorne set his sights on, it had nothing to do with Jasper, but Yelena Hughes was off-limits.
She was dragged back to the private room, in her heart knowing she wouldn’t have a good night.
"Take off what you’re wearing!"
Yelena Hughes hadn’t even steadied herself before a hand appeared at her collar, tearing it.
