The Broken Angel & Her Overprotective Brothers-Chapter 223: Precious Possession
"Let’s... bet on... this!"
Kaiden watched with a dumbfounded expression on his face as his girlfriend took out his black card and placed it on the table, bringing all the limelight to it.
All the people present around the table stared at the card and then turned to look at each other in surprise before turning their gazes towards the drunk girl who had been betting huge amounts of money ever since she entered the Inn nearly an hour ago.
"Miss... are you sure... about this...? Sir, why don’t you reconsider?" The Innkeeper could not stop himself from voicing out his thoughts as he looked at Kaiden with pitiful eyes.
But he was not the only one who had been feeling pitiful towards Kaiden. Almost everyone present in the Inn was having the same thoughts as they watched the drunk girl spending the man’s money as if it meant nothing.
"Darling, how about stopping for today? I think you are pretty tired now. Let’s head back to the apartment." Kaiden suggested as he pulled the girl back into his arms, stopping her from walking closer to the herd of men present around them.
Neither he was happy to see sympathy in their eyes for him, nor he liked the way they were appreciating the beauty of his mate. Even if Emily ended up spending all his wealth, he barely cared. He would let her do whatever she wished as long as it would make her happy. He did not need sympathy from others.
"Nope! I’m having a lot of fun here. I’m not leaving. You can leave if you want... Don’t mind me." Emily replied to him as she lightly punched his cheeks before turning her attention back to the people around them.
"Come on, start the game!" She shouted excitedly as she clapped her hands like a baby.
"Miss... we don’t accept credit cards as wager. If you really want to play... why not find something different to wager for this round?" The Innkeeper tried to help the poor man. He really could no longer stand seeing the man getting ripped off from his hard-earned money. After all, if his boss became poor then he and his other brothers won’t be able to survive either.
Kaiden was indeed the Big Boss of the Night Market. Every single shop in the market was under his ownership.
Listening to the Innkeeper’s words, Emily picked up the black card as she stared at it with a sad expression covering his face. She turned around to look at Kaiden as she observed him closely.
"Then... how about..." She became silent after that as she seemed to be thinking about something.
"How about my car?" Kaiden suggested as he took out the car keys and showed them to her. His eyebrows were arched high as he looked at her curiously, waiting for her response.
Emily first stared at the keys and after a second or two, turned her gaze to his face as she glared at him. "Are you stupid? How are we going to return home if we ended up losing your car?" She questioned with a pout on her luscious lips.
"Oh... but... you have already lost my watch, phone, and red spirit collector stone. What about those?" He questioned while looking at her with a small twitch on his lips. He was trying his best to not smile as he watched her fumbling to find the right words to defend herself.
"That... that... that - that... I was..."
Struggling for quite some time, she finally gave up. She had no words to defend her poor skills in poker. It was his fault that he allowed her to wager his expensive and also important belongings. Since he did not stop her at all, she was not the only one guilty over here.
"I have an idea!" She suddenly exclaimed with a cheerful smile on her lips while her emerald eyes twinkled like stars.
Everyone looked at her curiously, waiting for her to continue. Kaiden was also included with them as he too waited to hear whatever new plan her drunk mind had formed.
She looked at him and gave him a bright smile as she wrapped her hands around his waist and then turned to look at the people present around her.
"How about him? He’s my most precious possession. Will you accept him as a wager? I’m sure his handsome face and sexy body will be able to bring you a lot of money." Emily sounded too happy as she disclosed her new idea.
She signaled everyone to bring their faces closer as she whispered, "You can always use him to threaten the Sullivans for a huge ransom."
The Innkeeper almost puked out blood after hearing her words. The girl was really brave to say something like that about the Sire of the Northern Province. But when he turned to look at the said man, all that he noticed was the smile that had gotten bigger and the look of pure fondness in his icy blue eyes.
"Miss..."
He wanted to tell the girl that she really needed to think about the nonsense that she had been spouting. But since the master was not saying anything, he as a lowly servant, had no right to discipline his boss’ woman.
"All of you... Leave."
Kaiden suddenly ordered in a calm but cold tone. However, his expressions did not change at all as he kept gazing at his mate.
The people present in the Inn didn’t take long to disappear. The Innkeeper followed the crowd and closed the entrance of the Inn, making sure that no one would disturb the Master.
"So... I’m your most precious possession?" Kaiden questioned the girl who was staring at the closed entrance door of the Inn in a daze.
Hearing his question, she turned to face him but her eyes were glaring at him accusingly. Her expressions were that of a person who seemed to be wronged and when she finally opened her mouth to respond, her tone did not sound friendly at all.
"Are you crazy? Why did you send them away? Who’s going to play with me now?"
And just like that... she started wailing like a child.
