Chapter 222: Right Choice

Shadow stepped inside the hall, watching as all the Immortals present there immediately stood up to greet him.

After taking a look around for a few seconds, his gaze finally settled on the three High Goddesses who were sitting on the high platform. None of the three of them bowed to him but they still stood up from their throne to greet him with small smiles and slight nods of their heads in acknowledgment.

"You are here." The Goddess of Moon and Stars was the first one to break the silence as she addressed him with a knowing look in her eyes.

"Did I even have any other option? In the name of Spirit trial, you tricked me to come here. Why even act when we all know the truth?" Shadow sounded just as cold as he appeared to be calm.

The Goddess pursed her lips as she stared at Shadow for a few seconds before she arched her eyebrows slightly and tilted her head a little on the left while speaking, "Let’s talk in private."

Shadow did not say anything as he just let the Goddess do as she wished. The only reason he found the entire hall filled with Deities and Immortals was so that they could watch him entering the God Realm with their eyes.

Since he was summoned by the High Goddesses and was witnessed by all the other residents of the realm, no one would hold him accountable for breaking his punishment of banishment. He was quite surprised to see that the High Goddesses made such efforts just for him.

Soon enough, he found himself standing in a very familiar garden along with all the three High Goddesses. His eyes landed on the statue of Goddess standing in the center of the garden, recalling those moments from his time spent in the Nightfall Academy when he used to find Emily staring at the second part of the statue.

"She still has not found out about her real identity. Interesting." The Goddess of seasons spoke as she too looked at the statue.

Shadow remained silent as he had nothing special to say at the moment. He just planned to stay like that so that the Goddesses could become frustrated enough to spill whatever they wanted from him on their own.

"Since she has been to Nightfall, she should have seen the other part of the statue. Did she never feel anything after seeing it so many times?" The Goddess of War questioned as she too spared a quick look at the statue.

All the three Goddesses looked at Shadow as they waited for him to speak. However, to their utter dismay, the man stayed completely silent.

The Goddess of Moon and Stars was the first one to give up asking pointless questions as she moved to stand right in front of Shadow as she spoke, "No need to give us the cold shoulder. We called you here because we just wanted to know exactly what’s going on with Emilia. Because of your presence around her, we can’t keep track of her."

She stared at him with displeasure clearly visible in her eyes while her voice sounded a lot accusing instead of curious.

"You don’t have to worry about her. Since she’s mine, I’ll take care of her on my own. Both of us are none of your business." Shadow responded in an indifferent tone which clearly offended the three High Goddesses.

"Unfortunately, you are wrong here. She is no longer yours because you have foolishly gifted her to someone else. The day you decided to break your soulbond with her, you lost her for real. The bad news is that even after breaking the bond, you still ended up losing your heart to her."

"I still wonder what made you think that by severing the bond, you will be able to give her a better and happy future. Have you never thought of the consequences? A soul bond binds the soul of mates together for eternity. Unless all the parties included in a soulbond agrees to sever the bond before it’s complete, it’s impossible to break the bond completely."

The three Goddesses seemed to not be very happy as they one by one started stating the stupid mistakes that Shadow had made regarding his mate.

"The girl still has no idea that her real soulmate is not that wolf but you. She was never included in the process of severing the bond which makes your attempt of breaking it futile. Even though you ended up transferring the essence of your soul into Kaiden so that he could form a soul bond with Emily, the truth is that you are still her first chosen mate."

Shadow felt like he was being slapped by those words that he already was aware of - his mistakes. He realized it pretty late though but he was still aware of how stupidly he handled the situation back then because of his desperation to get rid of a soulbond that suddenly appeared to rock his already unstable Immortal life.

"Can you even imagine what will happen now? Do you seriously think that she will ever be able to accept Kaiden as her real soulmate? Will her soul allow that? What do you think will happen when she will become aware of the truth that you have been hiding from her all these years?"

The Goddess of Seasons bombarded him with questions that seemed to attack him from all directions, not giving him any chance to even think properly.

"What do you all want from me? Stop telling me all this. There’s no point in telling me something that I already know about." He finally spoke as he glared at the three women who seemed too ready to torture him mentally.

"Really? Since you are already aware of your mistakes then what are your plans for correcting them? What are you going to do now?" The Goddess of Moon and Stars questioned as she looked at him curiously, waiting to hear his response.

Shadow remained silent for a while before he finally whispered, "I’m going to help her settle down the matter of her enemies. I will help her acknowledge her true identity and will make sure that she and Kaiden complete their bond before the end of this year. After that, I’ll leave the mortal realm and face the tribulation."

By looking at the displeased and angry looks on the beautiful faces of the three High Goddesses, it was clear that none of the three of them like his answer even a little bit. If not for the fact that he was also a High God, banished or not, they would simply have beaten him up for his stupid ideas.

"You are really something? You still have the guts to talk about making her accept the bond with Kaiden when you are fully aware that it won’t end in a good way." The Goddess of Seasons reprimanded him as she turned to look at her sisters with a pleading look in her eyes.

"There is no other option. I’ll leave them soon and as long as none of them are aware of her connection with me, everything will eventually become better between the two of them." Shadow replied in an indifferent sound while his body language screamed that he believed his words completely. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺

"No! Rather than keeping the two of them in dark, you should tell them all the truth. Tell her that the feelings she has towards you are real and even deeper than what she feels towards Kaiden." The Goddess of War immediately spoke as she looked at him with seriousness filling her eyes.

"She loves him! I can’t ruin her perfect love life just because I ended up messing up everything because of my lack of knowledge and impatience. I’ll never be able to forgive myself if her beautiful relation with Kaiden got ruined because of me." Shadow’s voice was filled with pain and sadness as he started at the three women with fire blazing in his eyes.

But no matter whatever he said, the Goddesses were in no mood of listening. "Maybe it will ruin her chance with Kaiden but she deserves to know the truth. She deserves to choose whom she really wants in her life. She deserves to decide for herself. You should tell her everything and let her decide. Just think about if she ended up choosing you..."

Before the Goddess of Seasons could finish her sentence, the sudden rumble underneath the ground made her shut up. Her eyes flew to look at Shadow who seemed completely fine but she and her sisters were fully aware that he was the one who caused the sudden tremor. It was his way of reminding them that he had enough of their nonsense.

"Whether you like it or not, but the truth is that nothing will go right if you keep this a secret. You can’t even imagine the pain that she will have to go through at the time of your separation. Her heart and soul will divide into two, one that will belong to Kaiden and the other that will die along with you."

"We just hope that you will make the right choice..."
