Chapter 221: Gods and Goddesses

"It’s not too late... not yet! Stop pretending like there’s really no hope left for you." The man in the purple cloak seemed a little bit angry after hearing Shadow’s response and immediately countered his lame excuse.

Both the men remained silent for the next few seconds before the purple cloak decided to speak first, "I won’t waste any more of your time. I’m here to remind you that you also have a second chance that you can use to live a happy life. Remember to take advantage of it before it really gets too late for you to even regret your choices during these past few years."

His purple eyes stared at Shadow as if they were trying to read him, unfortunately, it was not that easy to find out about whatever was going on inside the head of the Supreme Sire.

"I’ll be taking my leave now. You better hurry up... you have some more uninvited guests lurking around." Saying that the silhouette of the purple-cloaked man disappeared as quickly from the cave as he had appeared.

A sigh left Shadow’s mouth as he tried to not think about the second chance that the purple cloak mentioned just now.

Taking a deep breath to calm himself down, he started moving towards the center of the cave. Barely after walking for ten minutes or so, he finally came across the magical barrier that was located inside the cave, stopping him and anyone else from moving ahead.

Shadow raised his left hand and pressed his palm against the invisible ward, watching as the spell got broken by his mere touch. But passing through the ward was never the challenge... the real challenges were about to start.

As soon as he stepped on the other side of the magical ward, his legs came in contact with bone-chilling water - the first trial out of the seven total trials that he needed to pass to win the treasure that had been hidden in the cave for centuries by now.

It was probably a few minutes in reality but the trials that he experienced felt like they had been going on for hours.

Each element trial took away a small part of his powers, making him weaker by every step that he was taking towards the treasures.

Starting from water, then air, earth, fire, thunder, and darkness, he went through the trials of all these six elements before finally arriving across the last and final trial - the trial of Spirit.

Sweat was running down his body and his breath was coming out in short gasps. After passing the last six trials, he had lost a huge portion of his powers and energy, making him way too vulnerable and weak to face the strongest element amongst all the seven elemental magic.

"Welcome, My Lord. It’s a great honor of ours to get the chance of handing over the treasures to someone as capable as you." A little fairy appeared out of nowhere and greeted Shadow with a bow. Her companions who also appeared behind her followed her actions and greeted the Supreme Sire.

Shadow could not help but chuckle as he found the fairy’s words way too much to digest. "If you are really that much happy to see me taking away your treasure... why don’t you already hand them over to me?"

Both his expressions and tone of voice were clearly stating that he was mocking them and their fake enthusiasm. The little creatures had spent centuries protecting the treasures and they all were deeply connected with it. Even though it was true that they would always choose the Supreme Sire as the owner of their treasure compared to other greedy people, it was also true that if given the chance they would never let anyone take away the treasure from them.

The first fairy, who seemed to be the leader of the group, once again bowed her head as she spoke in a calm voice, "My Lord, the Cave of Elemental Powers has done rules and anyone who wants to win the treasure of our cave, that person will have to pass through all the seven trials created by the High Goddesses."

As soon as Shadow heard them mentioning the High Goddesses, he could not help but let a small twitch stretch the corner of his lips.

"The High Goddesses... they seemed to be enjoying the show. After all, they have very smartly created the entire concept from the very beginning... and they still have the face to say that I’m the one destroying my life..."

As soon as the words were out of his mouth, a loud thunderous voice ranged through the cave, making the fairies hiss in fear while Shadow just rolled his eyes.

"Let’s not waste any more time. I still have a lot of work to finish in the outside world." He stated in a kind of frustrated tone as he moved to the center of the glass platform that had suddenly appeared in front of him.

As he reached the center of the platform, six different circles related to the other six elements, appeared around him, enclosing him inside them.

The surrounding started to change and soon enough he and the glass platform were floating through the dark and silent abyss.

"My Lord, are you sure that you want to keep going in such a state?" The leader fairy asked ss she looked at Shadow with interest-filled eyes. She did not seem to be worried about him but neither did her voice sounded like she was pretending.

"This is a trial of my inner energy. It doesn’t matter what my current physical condition is. Let’s start." Shadow answered as he took a seat on the ice platform in the center of the elemental circles, closing his eyes as he let both his body and mind relax.

There was no other option other than finishing the trial and getting the treasure. He had to get those elemental magic balls for Emily before anyone else could fish them away.

"It’s starting." The fairy announced as she and her companions surrounded the glass platform and joined their powers to start the final trial of Spirit Element.

While during the previous six trials, Shadow was aware that he needed to fight the powerful forces of the Elemental Magic, this time he was completely clueless about what kind of trial the Spirit Element would put forward for him.

A few seconds passed in silence as he felt the joint forces of the fairies’ powers and the elemental powers combing together around him. Then suddenly, a soft breeze brushed against his cheek, making his waist-length hair flutter along with it.

His eyes immediately flew open as he realized that he had returned to his original look, the way he looked before he came to meet Emily five years ago. His raven hair was back to its original length, his skin had turned milky, his eyes were a blazing shade of amber with bright red circles surrounding his irises.

Instead of his usual black jeans, shirt, and same colored overcoat, he was now wearing a long white robe that was made of the finest and softest material that felt like cool water against his skin.

And as his eyes roamed over his surrounding, taking in the waterfalls, forests, mountain ranges, rivers, and the variety of flora and fauna that was present there, it did not take him long to recognize that place.

It had been ages... ages since he last visited this place. To be exact, ever since he was banished to the mortal realm, he never stepped back into the realm of God and Goddesses. However, here he was today. Standing on the same land where he used to rule the universe at some point in history.

"My Lord... you are back...!"

As Shadow turned around to look at the person who had spoken, his eyes landed on the giant figure of Dragon King who immediately shifted into his human form and kneeled on the ground to greet him.

"No doubt that you are the first one who came to find me. I’m no longer one of the rulers here. No need to stand on courtesy." Shadow reminded the Dragon King but looking at the determined look on his face, it was clear that the man still refused to accept all that had happened in the past.

"No matter what happens, it’s the truth that you are one of the Great Rulers." The Dragon King responded in a firm tone as he bowed his head again.

Shadow let out a sigh as he moved closer to the Dragon King to help him stand up. "Let’s drop this topic for now. I have been summoned here. Let’s go and see what these Gods and Goddesses want from me now." He started in a calm tone before both of their silhouettes disappeared from the sight.

The grand castle made of white marble and precious stone was standing at the top of the mountain peaks that seemed to reach the clouds.

The bright sunlight fell on it, making it appear even more magnificent than it already was.

Currently, the Great Hall of this castle was filled with Gods and Goddesses as everyone waited for the banished God to make his appearance.
