The billionaire's only desire-Chapter 51: Recovered
Chapter 51: Recovered
Two weeks have passed, and Maya has fully recovered. Color has returned to her cheeks, and she is now completely healthy and agile.
"You are glowing this morning, Maya," Nana Rose shot at her.
Maya was at the dining table, reading a food magazine to keep herself occupied because she was feeling pretty bored.
"That means I’m perfectly healthy, so you can convince Oliver that I don’t need to rest anymore." Oliver assigned Nana Rose to keep an eye on her.
Nana Rose handed Maya the medication prescribed for her migraines and dizziness, along with a full glass of water. "No, you still need a lot of rest and I don’t want to see you in the kitchen," she said firmly, with a disapproving tone.
Maya grimaced. God, boredom is going to drive her crazy! She misses the kitchen so much.
"I’m visiting my sister," Nana Rose announced.
Maya gazed at the handbag draped over Nana Rose’s shoulder. "Okay."
"Don’t think about sneaking into the kitchen; I will find out if you did. There is a CCTV camera in the kitchen," Nana Rose warned.
Maya let out a groan. "I won’t."
"Your lunch will be served soon. Don’t forget to take your medication," Nana Rose reminded her before striding off.
A moment later, one of the new house helpers served Maya lunch. She ate a few bites and took her medication.
The meal Maya ate lacked the flavors she desired, which made her feel more frustrated about not being in the kitchen. She missed cooking.
And she misses Dalton. She barely sees him. He has become so busy over the past two weeks.
"Hey, girlfriend!" Haven slid into the chair beside Maya.
"Thank God you’re here; I was dying of boredom."
"They’re still keeping you locked up here."
Maya grimaced. "I look completely fine, right?"
Haven nodded. "You look fully recovered."
"But Oliver and Dalton stubbornly insist that I should be caged up for another two weeks!"
"Poor you," Haven patted Maya’s shoulder. "I’m here to keep you company." She grinned. fгeewёbnoѵel_cσm
Maya smiled back. "Thanks for saving my boring day, but shouldn’t you be at work? Dalton may need you."
"Nope. He is in a long private meeting with some investors."
"Oh, I’ll keep you here then,"
Maya grinned. "Do you like K-dramas?"
Haven jerked her head back. "Baby, I need them like I need oxygen to breathe."
Maya cracked up. "You are my favorite person!"
"Let’s watch one," she suggested. Maya quickly returned to her room and brought her laptop to the dining table. She pressed play on the latest K-drama. Maya and Haven couldn’t stop squealing as they watched the romantic scenes.
"How does it feel to be in love?" Haven suddenly asked.
Maya paused the episode they were watching. Dalton’s name crept into her mind, and a cheesy smile spread across her face. "It’s a euphoric feeling. You feel as if you’re high on some drug. Your heart skips a beat whenever you see the person you love, and you feel giddily excited to be around them."
"I envy you," Haven sighed. "I’ve never experienced any of the feelings you’ve described."
"Look at how your eyes are sparkling, Maya. You were thinking about Dalton, right?"
"Obviously," Maya giggled. Then she paused and squinted at Haven’s hand, catching a glimpse of something shiny.
"Is that an engagement ring?" Maya gasped.
Haven drew her hand back, folding her palm. A shy smile peeked out from her lips. "Yep, I’m engaged."
"Oh my God!" Maya exclaimed as she reached out for Haven’s hand to inspect the ring. "Wow, it’s a gorgeous ring! I’m so happy for you!"
"" Who is the lucky guy? When did he propose? How long have you been together?" Maya bombarded Haven with questions.
"He proposed to me yesterday," Haven replied. "His name is Kelvin. I have known him my whole life. We met when we were little kids."
"So, you two are childhood sweethearts?"
Haven nods with a small smile.
Maya gently prods her palm over her cheek. "Aww, that’s so sweet! Tell me more details. I need to know everything about your adorable love story."
"It’s not that interesting. We’ve been best friends for what feels like forever, and then it turned into a romantic relationship, and he proposed," Haven explained dryly.
"Oh, but it’s still a cute story..." Maya sounded unsure. She noticed Haven didn’t have the excitement and glow of a girl who had just gotten engaged.
Perhaps she is reading too much into it, and Haven is simply overwhelmed, Maya tried to remain positive.
"You are getting married?"
Maya and Haven turned their heads toward the threshold to find Aiden staring at them.
Haven glared at him. "It’s impolite to eavesdrop on other people’s conversations."
Aiden ignored her complaint and snickered. "You’re going to be a child bride. Aren’t you a minor?"
"I’m 20 years old!" Haven screams at him.
"You’re still pretty young to be getting married," Aiden remarked, infuriating Haven even more.
"Mind your damn business, Aiden!" Haven shrieked furiously at him
Aiden laughed. "I like it when you’re angry; you look fierce, jailbird." He winked at Haven.
Haven wanted to keep a straight face, but a flush colored her cheeks.
These two always have intriguing interactions. Unfortunately, Haven is engaged and Aiden is a jerk, Maya thought.
"I’m leaving," Haven said as she glanced at her phone. "Dalton needs me back at the office."
"Oh," Maya felt disappointed.
"I’m also going to see Dalton. Let’s ride there together," Aiden offered.
"Sure," Haven agreed nonchalantly, which amused Maya. It was as if Haven hadn’t been angry with Aiden just a minute ago.
"See you later," Haven kissed Maya’s cheek.
"Let’s go," Haven prompted Aiden while still staring at her phone as she walked out.
"Aiden, wait!" Maya called out to him before he could disappear from her sight.
"What happened to Valentina, my half-sister?" Maya had been wondering about that ever since Aiden broke the news about the deaths of Fredrick Hathaway and Terrence.
Aiden shrugged. "She has locked herself inside your late mother’s mansion, grieving over her dead Instagram page."
Maya rippled out a wicked laugh. "Oh, so you took down her Instagram page?"
Aiden smirked mischievously. "Yep, you owe me one, Maya."
"Thank you for doing that. It was the perfect revenge," Valentina is grieving the loss of her brother and father, as well as her dead Instagram page. She might be feeling incredibly sad and lonely, but Maya doesn’t feel sorry for her at all. It’s what Valentina’s annoying ass deserved.
