Chapter 844 - 844 To Woo a Girl

844 To Woo a Girl

Meng Yang was in the middle of eating another bite when he spotted Cheng Yan pouring a glass of water for Yao Tang. He then placed it by her hand before handing her a tissue.

He was so considerate of her. He had already managed to peel an entire bowl of shrimp for Yao Tang, which was sitting right in front of her.

When Meng Yang saw this, his eyes popped wide open, and he choked on his food. He had to pound his chest a few times and take big gulps of water before he could breathe again.

This was the famous Young Master Cheng. When had he ever treated another person this way?

!!

At that thought, Meng Yang’s eyes fixed on Yao Tang again, only for him to jolt back when he noticed Cheng Yan staring at him.

There was no particular emotion in the Young Master’s eyes, but Meng Yang felt oddly threatened.

He immediately lowered his head and kept eating his rice, not daring to look in their direction again.

Of course, Qin Rui noticed everything as well. He was just as shocked to see the great Young Master Cheng pick out fish bones so diligently. Qin Rui was even tempted to tease him for it, but he held himself back.

It seemed that Cheng Yan was serious about Yao Tang.

As for Yao Tang herself, she calmly accepted Cheng Yan’s ministrations as if it was the most natural thing in the world.

If Ma Chao had been here to witness this, he would surely regret not sending Yao Ran farther into the wilderness. And Yao Tang’s ranking in his regard would probably hike up to Cheng Yan’s level.

After all, no one in his right mind would ask the Young Master Cheng to serve them during their meal.

Qin Jing looked on surreptitiously, feeling a little envious.

If she could find someone like Young Master Cheng, perhaps falling in love wouldn’t be as troublesome as she initially thought.

Their public display of affection was soon starting to chip her appetite away.

She leaned close to Qin Rui and asked softly, “Brother, where did Young Master Cheng learn these tricks to woo a girl? You seem to be quite skilled in the area. Have you tried the same thing to win over a girl before?”

Qin Rui stiffened, and for a while, he could only blink at his bowl. He didn’t know what to say to that.

He glanced at Qin Jing and pretended to cough. The tips of his ears had turned red from embarrassment.

“Huh? I’m right, aren’t I?”

Qin Jing grew even more curious after seeing her brother’s reaction.

She realized belatedly that the table had turned silent. Everyone seemed to have stopped eating.

She raised her head and glanced at Cheng Yan warily.

Just as Qin Jing had expected…

Cheng Yan’s eyes were locked on her face.

Qin Jing scratched her head sheepishly and let out an awkward laugh.

She didn’t expect him to hear her all the way from across the table.

Yao Tang, on the other hand, was peering quizzically at Cheng Yan.

Alarm bells began ringing inside his head, but he maintained his composure.

He cleared his throat and said, “You don’t need to learn these things. When you meet someone you like, you just go along with your instincts.”

Yao Tang remained expressionless beside him.

After a beat or two, she reached out and picked up a piece of peeled shrimp and brought it to her mouth. She resumed eating as if she hadn’t heard anything of consequence.

Only then did Qin Jing realize that both Cheng Yan and Yao Tang had heard her, even though she was practically whispering.

“Brother, why didn’t you warn me?”

She complained, glaring at Qin Rui, her cheeks flushed.

Qin Rui could only sigh helplessly and shake his head. It wasn’t as if he could have stopped her! No one could stop Qin Jing once she made up her mind about something.

Qin Jing narrowed her eyes at her brother, her gaze filled with resentment. She continued to eat, though she would pout at Qin Rui now and then.

Across the table, Cheng Yan studied Yao Tang carefully and found that she didn’t seem to be acting any differently. Even so, he held on to the tiny hope that she would be mad at him for this. That way, he could stay on her mind.

“Tangtang,” he said softly. “What do you think of me now?”

Meng Yang, who was sitting on the other side of Cheng Yan, overheard him and almost spat out the rice in his mouth.

Fortunately, she managed to swallow it back in time. If he ruined the atmosphere at such a crucial moment…

Young Master Cheng would definitely not spare him.

Meng Yang soldiered on and gulped down a mouthful of water to wash the rice down. It was all he could do not to look over at Cheng Yan and Yao Tang.

No matter how much he wanted to watch the show, he wanted to keep his life even more.

And then, Yao Tang spoke in her usual cold and emotionless voice.

“You’re all right.”
