The Best Actor Insists On Living With Me!-Chapter 1790 - 1780: Not a Good Day for Travel (1)
Bo Yan indeed had his schedule sorted out, planning to take a flight earlier on that day.
Xia Siyu had work in Yancheng during the morning, but was free in the afternoon and evening. She had initially thought of staying home in the afternoon and evening. Although it was only for more than half a day, she had already packed her luggage and just needed to enjoy some time as a couple.
Bo Yan’s flight was scheduled to take off at dawn, so he would mostly arrive by the morning. If everything went smoothly, he might even reach home before Xia Siyu.
But man proposes, God disposes.
On the day Bo Yan headed to the airport, a dense fog filled the sky, with visibility less than ten meters. His flight was supposed to take off at 6:30 AM, and he reached the airport by 5:00 AM. On his way driving to the airport, he saw the expressway leading to the airport covered in a white blur, and he had a bad feeling about it.
Sure enough, he arrived at the airport, completed the check-in process, but was informed that his flight was forced to delay due to the heavy fog.
Alright, with the fog, there’s basically nothing that can be done about flights.
At this point, he couldn’t possibly inform Xia Siyu about anything, so he could only wait in the lounge.
By 6:30, Xia Siyu sent a message. She had an event in the morning and woke up right at that time. She reached for her phone by the bedside and coincidentally sent the message just ten minutes before Bo Yan’s scheduled takeoff, intending to chat for a bit. Unexpectedly, once she sent the message, Bo Yan chuckled on the other side: "It’s foggy."
"Oh, well, nothing you can do about that. Just wait for the sun to come out; the fog will clear up by then."
The two of them have been flying back and forth often, so they’ve encountered various special circumstances, and this was nothing out of the ordinary.
Xia Siyu stretched and lay down for a bit longer, chuckling: "Maybe I’ll get home before you do."
Her work schedule, including makeup, was from 9 AM to 12 PM. After finishing at noon, technically the client would also host a lunch, but Xia Siyu could escape that. Considering the travel time from the shooting location back home, accounting for traffic jams and such, she should be able to arrive by 2 PM.
If Bo Yan had returned as initially planned, he would have arrived home by 11 AM. There would be time to tidy up and have lunch together. But with the fog, this delay made it uncertain how long it would take.
At that moment, neither Xia Siyu realized the gravity of the situation, nor did Bo Yan anticipate it. After hanging up the call, Xia Siyu yawned, stretched, and lazily got up to wash up.
Lately, she has been quite exhausted. Practicing martial arts movements is physically tiring, but the variety of chaotic work is mentally draining. Xia Siyu was going abroad soon, so she needed to rush and complete many business collaborations in time. After all, they wouldn’t be in the same country, and coupled with the barriers due to the pandemic, many collaborations would be inconvenient.
After Xia Siyu finished freshening up, Wei Jingjing came to pick her up and also brought breakfast. While they were having breakfast, she sent a message: "How’s it going?"
Bo Yan replied: "Still the same."
On the way to the photo studio, she kept messaging Bo Yan: "Are you flying yet?"
Bo Yan shook his head helplessly: "No."
Upon arriving at the studio and starting her makeup, she texted Bo Yan again: "It’s 9 AM, has the fog cleared?"
Bo Yan turned his head: "The fog has started to clear, but no boarding yet, just waiting for the schedule."
The heavy fog disrupted the airport’s plans. Although the fog was beginning to clear, they couldn’t leave immediately. Previously delayed flights meant everyone was waiting to board. Unfortunately, Bo Yan’s flight encountered traffic control and was still in the queue.
Xia Siyu began her shoot. Today, she was shooting a commercial. After being chosen as the heroine in a superhero movie, more business collaborations sought her out. And compared to some mass-produced three-month "XX brand ambassador" or "XX campaign partner," she didn’t bother with those anymore. With the tight schedule, any collaboration should at least be a year-long endorsement.
Today’s shoot was rather special, endorsing a mobile game of the "999 damage in one slash, join my brotherhood to slash me" variety. And for such endorsements, there’s only one word: extravagant.
The pay was generous, the shoot straightforward; just a few lines and some illustrations were needed, economical and convenient.
For Xia Siyu, shooting that commercial wouldn’t even take ten minutes. Even with the Weiya action scenes, Xia Siyu, who had recently been practicing martial arts, nailed it in one go. With the director worrying it may not succeed and asking her to act out a couple more versions, it only took half an hour. Filming the illustrations, being Xia Siyu’s bread and butter, was swift. With a decade in the industry, she knew the best poses and the most approachable smiles. To complete the entire shoot, it only took an hour, and by then it was just past 11 AM.
Xia Siyu, as usual, skipped the lunch event, changed back into her clothes, tidied up a bit, and on her own car headed home. It was only 11:30 AM. As soon as she got in the car, she pulled out her phone to check messages. Half an hour ago, Bo Yan had sent a text: "I’ve boarded."
Having boarded, he should have taken off by now. Flying from there to Yancheng would take two hours, adding over an hour from the airport, Bo Yan should arrive by 2 PM.
Barring any accident, she’d make it home before Bo Yan.
Even though she thought Bo Yan should have already taken off by this time, she still gave him a call. Unexpectedly, the phone rang twice before it got through. Then came Bo Yan’s rather resigned voice: "Still waiting."
"You even boarded, yet there’s still traffic control?"
Bo Yan nodded, wanting to say more, when suddenly a disturbance arose on the other end. Bo Yan said in a low voice: "Wait a moment."
On the other side, a flight attendant was telling him: "Sir, sorry, but please head back to the shuttle bus."
Bo Yan, confused, asked: "What happened? Is it still traffic control?" 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
The flight attendant shook her head: "It’s unclear right now, but the plane can’t take off temporarily. Please wait for a while on the shuttle bus."
Xia Siyu, on the other side, was listening loud and clear. She couldn’t help but find humor in it: "Hahaha, didn’t check the almanac before going out today, did you? Isn’t today unsuitable for travel? You should’ve taken the high-speed train, you’d probably be almost there by now."
The high-speed train to Yancheng would take about six hours. If he’d taken the train at six, he’d indeed almost be there by now.
But now that he had reached this point, Bo Yan could only leave the plane and wait for a while.
Another hour passed. By the time Xia Siyu reached home, Bo Yan sent a message: "You were right; I didn’t check the almanac before going out today."
Xia Siyu was practically "???" and immediately called Bo Yan: "What’s the situation? What’s going on?"
When the call connected, it was extremely noisy on his end, with some unruly passengers swearing amidst chaos.
Bo Yan said: "The flight’s been canceled."
