Chapter 179: Peaceful Walk

Within what seemed to be a couple of minutes, they were by the ocean. Jessamyn couldn’t fathom how fast the wolf was and how he managed to make her feel nothing despite their incredible speed.

They stood on a small dune where the waves crashed just a few feet in front of them. The moon cast its silvery light over the water, creating a mesmerizing scene.

As the waves rolled onto the shore, they shimmered with an otherworldly glow, specks of light sparkling and dancing in the surf. It was as if the ocean had captured the stars and brought them to life in the water, each crest of the wave adorned with a radiant, blue-green hue.

The gentle breeze carried the scent of salt and sea, ruffling Jessamyn’s hair and filling her lungs with the fresh, invigorating air. She watched in awe as the glowing waves continued their hypnotic dance, illuminating the shoreline in an ethereal light.

The beach itself seemed to be enchanted, the sand glowing faintly where the waves touched, leaving a trail of luminescent footprints that slowly faded back into the darkness.

Jessamyn’s heart swelled with wonder as she took in the breathtaking beauty of the scene. The contrast between the serene, moonlit night and the vibrant, glowing waves was magical, creating a surreal landscape that felt both timeless and ephemeral.

The waves whispered their secrets to the shore, their gentle caress a soothing lullaby that filled the night with a sense of peace and tranquility, making her forget everything else.

She turned to the white wolf, his fur gleaming in the moonlight, and felt an overwhelming gratitude for this moment. She didn’t know she needed this moment.

The wolf jumped down from the dune and walked to the water. Without knowing, she followed him, stepping lightly in his footprints. The glowing sand seemed to pulse gently beneath her feet, each step bringing her closer to the mesmerizing, illuminated waves.

When he reached the edge of the waves, he stopped and turned to look at her, his eyes reflecting the shimmering lights of the ocean. There was a silent urging in his gaze, an invitation to join him in this enchanted moment.

"Can I step in?" she asked.

The wolf said nothing, but she felt a warmth enveloping her. She removed her shoes, but she was still a little scared to step into the water at night.

She hesitated for a moment, feeling the cool sand between her toes. The night air was filled with the soothing sound of the waves, their rhythmic crashing against the shore a calming symphony. She took a deep breath, savoring the scent of the sea and the gentle breeze that brushed against her skin.

The wolf walked into the water, his movements fluid and majestic. Each step he took sent ripples through the glowing waves, creating an enchanting display of light and motion. Jessamyn watched in awe, mesmerized by the way his pristine white fur contrasted with the shimmering water.

Drawn by his silent command, Jessamyn followed, her feet sinking into the cool, damp sand with each step. The gentle waves lapped at her ankles; the water illuminated by the mysterious glow surrounding them.

She giggled as the sand tickled her feet. It lasted for some time before she got used to that sinking feeling each time the waves rolled over. As she got used to it, she felt a calm wash over her, the night’s serenity soothing her troubled heart.

"I love this..."

The wolf paused, turning to look at her, his eyes reflecting the moonlight, observing her. Jessamyn looked back at him. He looked brighter and his eyes looked gentler under the moonlight.

He was happy and her heart skipped a beat as she could feel his feelings.

As they walked, the water shimmered with every step, creating a light trail that marked their path. She naturally gravitated closer to him, her hand grazing over his silken fur.

There was something between them. The peace she felt was very similar to the peace she felt in her dreams.

Dreams!

"I dream of you often," she said breaking the silence between them.

Although this wolf didn’t talk much, she loved the shared silence between them.

Silence is uncomfortable only when you don’t understand what the other person might be feeling, and when you do, there is nothing more blissful than silence. The most profound relationships were those that required no words, only the silent language of the heart.

Her words must have been more refreshing for him than the gentle breeze that rejuvenated her soul, she saw his fur glow brighter.

"It’s not you per se... But a wolf cub... In the serenity of the garden in Ravensworth, I walk in my dreams and this wolf cub sticks with me..." she caressed his fur without hesitation. "His fur is as soft as yours too..."

Recalling her dreams, her lips curved. She looked at her fingers intertwined with the silver-white fur, and felt an electric warmth radiate from him, intertwining with her own emotions.

As they walked together, Jessamyn felt a deep sense of gratitude for this moment, for the shared silence, and for the presence of the majestic wolf who had come into her life.

"Thank you," she said. "I’ll never forget this night... This was the first time I’ve been to the..."

Jessamyn’s breath hitched as a wave of guilt crashed over her, shattering the peaceful spell of the night.

Jerrick’s hopeful face, filled with excitement and anticipation, flashed in her mind, a stark contrast to the serene moment she was sharing with the wolf. The memory of Jerrick asking if he could be the one to bring her to the ocean, his voice filled with a mix of eagerness and vulnerability, tore at her heart.

She had denied him that chance, and now she was here with the wolf, reveling in an experience that should have been Jerrick’s to share with her.

Her steps faltered, the light trail in the water dimming as her emotions darkened. The realization of her betrayal weighed heavily on her shoulders and the joy she had felt moments before turned into a sharp pang of remorse. Jessamyn stopped walking, her hand falling away from the wolf’s fur.

The white wolf sensed her change in mood and turned to look at her, his eyes filled with concern. Jessamyn couldn’t meet his gaze. She hugged herself tightly, trying to fend off the cold that was creeping into her heart.

"Thank you," she repeated, her voice trembling. "I’ll never forget this night... but I..." Her voice broke, and she bit her lip, fighting back tears.
