The Alpha King's Nemesis-Chapter 66: The Strange Drawing ()
Zariah quietly pushed open the door to Nile’s room and stepped in, she did not want the other Crimson Wolves to notice her movement, she was in no mood to give any explanations.
As Zariah shut the door quietly, she turned around expecting to see Nile asleep but the spirit guide leaned against the wall beside the door to his balcony, his amused gaze fixed on Zariah.
"By the elements, what are you doing up at such an hour?" Zariah whispered, momentarily caught off guard by Nile’s alert presence.
"I could ask you the exact same thing." Nile countered, before gesturing to his open balcony with a shrug.
"The night in the Ethereal Domain is a beautiful sight, not nearly as much as the Crimson Moon but it comes a close second." Nile explained casually as he headed over to his bed.
"Sit My Alpha, I presume you do not come to me just to exchange pleasantries?" Nile asked, gesturing for Zariah to sit.
"I have something I want you to take a look at..." Zariah trailed off.
"By take a look at, Alpha means scrying?" Nile asked knowingly, his eye glinting in amusement at Zariah’s reluctance to say it.
"Yes Nile, scrying, divining, whatever it is you do to see things that no one else sees...I need you to do that and your object of focus is this." Zariah murmured as she handed a folded up paper to Nile.
Nile watched Zariah carefully for a moment as he unfolded it an then glanced through it.
"This is a strange drawing indeed..." Nile commented in a questioning tone.
Zariah understood Nile’s meaning, he wanted to know where Zariah had gotten it and if whatever he find out had any possibility of endangering Zariah in anyway.
"I had...a dream Nile. I saw this and it struck me as something important. I can’t rest easy if I do not know what it means." Zariah twisted the truth in the only way she could.
"What do you think of it?" Zariah asked as she watched Nile examine the drawing from her memory which she had replicated as best as she could.
At a glance, it looked to Zariah like a perfect replica, she had paid attention to every little detail her memory could afford her and she was certain anyone who had a slightest inclination as to what this symbol was would recognize it at first glance.
"I’m not sure... I’ve seen something similar it once, in the ancient texts but I will have to make a deeper research to give a comprehensive report." Nile said thoughtfully, his gaze narrowed in concentration.
"I do not need a comprehensive report Nile, I need an answer and I need it now. Whatever you can tell me of it at all, no matter how insignificant...I just need an idea of it." Zariah insisted,
"Will do... just give me a moment." Nile said as he placed a hand over the drawing Zariah had made.
Zariah watched his eyes go misty as he scried, this happened when he sourced for information from the essence of the universe, 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
Nile’s eyes only glowed when he was divining, his body becoming a vessel for the Creator to communicate through.
Zariah waited patiently, passing a glance at Nile’s open balcony.
It was a little to the crack of dawn and two parties would be departing the Ethereal Domain at dawn.
One was led by Lord Kodin, headed to the floral domain and Darren as well as Allen would both be a part of that party.
Lord Kodin had planned to depart earlier, however Lady Floraina had proven difficult to convince, she had been intent on not leaving without taking Prince Treyton captive as leverage against the Sea Kingdom.
The Alpha King would also be leading another party to the Sea Kingdom, his party would only consist of Luther and three Royal Lycan warriors,
Askel’s third in command, Dechlan would remain behind to oversee the affairs of the Ethereal Domain alongside the elders of the court.
The Ethereal Alphas from the different packs across the Ethereal Domain and the representatives from the various species were kept in the dark about King Askel’s trip to the Sea Kingdom.
Time flowed differently beneath the Sea than it did in the Ethereal Domain and a month beneath the sea was merely a single day above surface,
This was why Prince Treyton who could be said to be of King Askel’s generation was infact over a century older than he was.
Zariah figured King Askel’s intentions was to conclude the affairs in the Sea Kingdom and return before anyone could even realize he was gone.
With Dechlan and the elders present to handle affairs, as well as King Askel’s mother, Queen Sancia, if everything went according to plan, King Askel’s absence would not be awfully noticeable.
Zariah shook her head slightly, she doubted King Askel’s absence would go unnoticed for even a moment, only that no one would be daring enough to make inquiries,
And when they finally had the guts to grow suspicious, King Askel would already be back in the Ethereal Domain.
Zariah admitted King Askel had thought his actions through, he had only just ascended the throne,
By right, he was to deliberate affairs with the Ethereal Alphas and the representatives ahead of a new dynasty in the Ethereal Domain.
If King Askel were to send the guests back to their respective domains, it would stir suspicions.
And the one thing the supernatural realm could not afford at this moment was pushing the floral domain off the brink,
This was precisely what would happen if the fairy queen caught wind of King Askel’s visit to the Sea Kingdom.
The fairy queen was overly suspicious and easily triggered, and she already had a series of scores to settle with the wolf shifters,
If she were to know of King Askel’s visit to the Ethereal domain, she would immediately assume the wolf shifters were siding with the merfolk and that would mean war.
Zariah was drawn out of her thoughts when the white mist over Nile’s eyes receded and he lifted his gaze to her.
"Any luck?" Zariah quickly inquired,
"My vision is hazy and unclear, I cannot pry further into what the source refuses to reveal." Nile began.
"I understand this, I come to you only because I know you can give me something Nile... anything." Zariah said with urgency.
Zariah understood that as spirit guide, Nile was subject to the Creator, a vessel to the source, not the other way around,
He could only see what the Creator chose to show, he was only allowed to know what the Creator chose to reveal,
If it had been otherwise, then perhaps Nile would have known before hand...the fate to befall Crimson Moon.
Although Nile accepted divination requests, he could not always promise to be able to give an answer that was clear and direct.
"The Creator reveals three characters in the ancient wolven tongue, in the most ancient letterings, they are common letters and may mean a host of different things, at the same time, I do not have an order to it." Nile said,
Nile picked up a pen and wrote the words down boldly before showing it to Zariah.
"Do they mean anything to you?" Nile asked curiously,
Zariah had mislead Nile to believe the strange drawing had appeared to her in a dream and she believed it to be a revelation from the Creator which was why she sought his help to understand the meaning.
In Zariah’s defence, the memory had truly come to her in a dream and so she was not being entirely dishonest.
Zariah glanced over the three words, truly they were the most ancient form of the ancient wolven tongue, a method of writing that had long been abandoned even before the dark war.
It was difficult for Zariah to read the words even with the wealth of knowledge she had on the ancient wolven tongue and so she handed it back to Nile, shaking her head slightly.
"If I am not mistaken, the first word means mark...it could also mean engraved. Perhaps I did not see it clearly." Nile pondered, taking a closer look at it.
"Damn it." Zariah sighed as she ran a hand through her hair in frustration, she had not expected she would still meet a dead end.
"Whatever it is, the dreams of the Crimson Alpha always hold great significance. In your blood is the most ancient magic, if the Creator has revealed this to you,"
" I fear it is pertaining to a great change that is close approaching." Nile said.
"I know Nile, I know. But what can I do when I do not even understand the meaning? If the Creator will not grant me the answer when I finally have a question to ask, then what am I to do?" Zariah whispered in frustration.
Nile stared at her for a long moment before his eyes began glowing a dim yellow and Zariah knew the one she intended to speak with was here.
"But you already know just what to do... Alpha Zariah..." Nile began in a slow, eerie tone.
