The Alpha King's Nemesis-Chapter 61: Always Be Mine ()
"I have met with the Sea King myself, upon hearing of the aggression of the battle fairies to Prince Treyton, he was enraged however I have explained to him of your timely intervention."
"The Sea King maintains his stance that he has not in anyway ordered the abduction of any fairy and would not sit idly by if Queen Heveneth insists on falsely accusing him." Lord Kodin said.
"Did he say nothing else?" Zariah asked, noticing Lord Kodin’s brief hesitation.
"He did say something, for reasons he would not explain, he insists on arranging a meeting with King Askel in the Sea Kingdom."
"The Sea King says Prince Treyton was asked to relay the same message but must have failed to due to the sudden occurrence, he insists it is urgent and King Askel must go in person." Lord Kodin relayed,
Askel was quiet for a brief moment as he recalled he truly was scheduled to have a meeting with Prince Treyton.
"Prince Treyton has previously requested a meeting to discuss urgent matters, it must also be related to this... visit the Sea Kingdom?" Askel asked in a low tone.
"This is why I have sent the other representatives away. I understand King Askel has just assumed the throne and should not be burdened by external matters yet,"
"But we both know the Sea King is not one to act out of order without a good reason and he would not send for you if it was not urgent." Lord Kodin said in a grim tone.
Askel nodded slowly, running a hand through his hair,
Askel also knew the Sea King’s personality well enough, he prided himself in the independence of the Sea Kingdom from the rest of the supernatural realm and was only ever willing to associate with the wolf shifters.
The other species he associated with only within the premise of his duty and he was equally not the type to seek aid for his own matters,
The Sea King hardly ever granted entrance to his domain usually, hence extending an invite himself was truly unusual.
"What will you do?" Lord Kodin asked,
"The Sea Kingdom is a realm unlike ours and there is much that requires my attention in the Ethereal Domain,"
"Summon Prince Treyton before my council, I will make a decision after understanding the scope and determining the urgency of the situation." Askel decided.
Askel could not immediately deny the Sea King, however he had only just been crowned Alpha King, his people needed his attention and he could not leave the Ethereal domain without a convincing reason.
"That is the best course of action." Lord Kodin said with a nod.
"How do you intend to see to the Floral Domain? A war in the supernatural realm while the alliance is so fragile will be the end of the peace treaty." Askel said.
"The Fairy Queen wishes to see me, I can only oblige, I will lead a team to the Floral Domain myself." Lord Kodin said.
"I cannot dissuade you, but you must be cautious, you know as well as I do that the possibility of this being staged is high, one cannot ignore the Fairy Queen’s ambitions."
"And if it is just one of her usual schemes, you are surely the first of her targets." Askel stressed.
"I understand, the Fairy Queen has always been an unyielding menace yet I have dealt with her for decades and was able to come out on top."
"Now that the situation has gotten to this, the one who has beat the drums of war first without consulting the supernatural council is a sinner against the alliance and at a great disadvantage."
"If the Sea King maintains his stance of denying all accusations, other than her own word, there is no evidence to prove the involvement of the Sea Kingdom in Princess Eloneth’s abduction."
"Queen Heveneth knows this, it is now more than ever that she needs the supernatural council, only the council can provide her the justification she needs otherwise the other realms will unite against her."
"I am certain the lesson learnt from the battle between the Vampires and Fairies decades ago is still very fresh in her mind, she may attack my council members due to the presence of the council merman,"
"However, she would not dare act unruly to me, she has made the mistake of placing the fate of the Floral Domain in my hands, I will have her see reason to withdraw." Lord Kodin said in a firm tone,
"However the fact remains Princess Eloneth’s whereabouts is officially declared unknown, whether this is true or not, the council must investigate the situation in order to be able to answer to the supernatural rulers."
"Our present aim is to agree on a momentary truce between the Sea Kingdom and the Floral Domain till we have ascertained the level of involvement the Sea King had with Princess Eloneth’s abduction or if there was any at all." Lord Kodin added.
"That is correct, the Fairy Queen may be ambitious but she knows the power of the Sea Kingdom clearly, this is too risky a move to take only to destroy the alliance... the Floral Domain stands to loose the most from this." Zariah who had been quiet for a while spoke up.
"I agree, I cannot even begin to presume the thoughts on the mind of Queen Heveneth, the only way to find out for sure is to hear from her in person." Lord Kodin said in agreement.
"Thankfully the drums of war of the Floral Domain has only begun beating, neither side have launched an attack on the other yet and no casualties are involved yet, thus we still have the chance to remedy the situation."
"This is only possible because you both were able to protect Prince Treyton’s life till my return and we have narrowly avoided triggering the wrath of the Sea King."
"Now, it is the council’s turn to act, a threat to the alliance is a threat to the entire realm, I assure you , we will get to the bottom of this." Lord Kodin promised solemnly.
"I do not doubt you will, but for precaution sake, I will assign a team of Royal Lycan warriors with you." Askel offered,
"From what I have heard so far, the Fairy Queen does not prefer the wolf shifters anymore than she does the council, it would only put her on edge."
"Lord Kodin is respected all through the realm and everyone that matters knows he will be in Floral territory, I believe the Fairy Queen will not make any rash moves." Zariah interjected.
"Head warrior Zariah is right, council duties do not allow for the intervention of external parties except absolutely necessary. I will make the necessary preparations and the supernatural council will see to it ourselves." Lord Kodin said,
"The tension between the representatives is high. Important figures from both species are present here, thus the Ethereal Domain is presently the determining factor of this war."
"Whatever happens to either side will immediately serve as sufficient justification and the war will become unavoidable."
"For this reason, the council will see to the matters of the representatives present in the Ethereal Domain, more particularly the two parties involved."
"We will calm the tension as much as we can and ensure the safe return of both parties to their respective domains in a few days, then we will leave for the Floral Domain."
"In regards to the matter with the Sea King, I will leave all decisions to you, King Askel. I will take my leave first." Lord Kodin concluded as he lowered his head in a small bow.
"Head warrior Zariah, a word?" Lord Kodin asked, turning his attention to Zariah.
________________
Zariah was not surprised when Lord Kodin requested a private discussion with her, she was grateful he had held out up till this moment without exposing her identity.
"We need to talk Mhíjani." King Askel interjected,
Zariah frowned slightly at the endearment King Askel insistently used in addressing her,
It was fine when she was certain the representatives and most of the Ethereal Alphas did not understand the ancient wolven tongue which was considered a lost language beyond the barrier,
However Zariah knew for certain that Lord Kodin understood it perfectly well
"I will be with you shortly." Zariah said to Lord Kodin.
Lord Kodin passed a final glance between Zariah and King Askel before he nodded in understanding and headed out first.
Zariah sucked in an inaudible deep breath before she slowly lifted her gaze to those enchanting golden orbs and Zariah swore for a moment, she could not remember how to breathe.
This was why Zariah avoided his gaze, there was just something about his eyes that was so pure and so intense that they practically glowed,
Zariah could not understand if it was just the mate bond messing with her or if this monster of an Alpha King truly had such kindness, soulfulness and humanity hidden with his eyes.
"You are leaving for your quarters after seeing to Lord Kodin, I presume?" King Askel asked in a low tone, just a little above a whisper.
"Yes." Zariah replied in a blank tone.
"When can we talk about...us?" King Askel asked again.
"There is no us King Askel, the sooner you accept this fact, the better it would be for both of us." Zariah stated clearly.
Zariah caught the flash in those golden orbs but she could not tell what emotion it was exactly, only that King Askel’s next words had her heart trembling in ways that terrified her.
"I will never accept it Mhíjani, not in a thousand years. You are mine! You may turn me down today, tomorrow and for as long as you like...but you will always be mine!" King Askel declared in a guttural tone, thick with possessiveness.
