The Alpha King's Nemesis-Chapter 133: Battle In The Northern Seas ()
"Retreat!" The Commander of the Northern Seas ordered his battle mers who complied immediately, creating a reasonable distance from the portal before taking their battle formation.
Zariah turned to Nile and Kristen who stared at her in shock, the Tide Trident grasped in his hand.
"Kristen... I need you to protect that Trident, the Northern barrier must remain erect, this was what it was created for...to contain the darkness within lest the forsaken slip out." Zariah said in a firm tone.
Originally, Zariah had intended to lower the barrier and let the armies from the other Seas in, but not anymore.
The Northern barrier was ancient and powerful, it would keep the forsaken in no matter what, the other six seas would be safe if things went sideways.
Zariah felt that was the least she could do for the Sea Kingdom, it was partly her fault that the forsaken had come knocking on their door at this time.
By bringing forwards the timeline of Lord Imain’s rebellion, Zariah had tampered with fate and it always came at a cost.
This time, her actions had forced the mastermind to make such a deadly move, Zariah would have to deal with the aftermath.
"An onslaught of ’creator knows what’ will be upon us soon, monsters of the darkness that cannot be killed... many of us have only heard of the dark war in tales, count yourself unfortunate that you shall get to witness a glimpse of it first-hand."
"Perhaps it is for the best, may the world see what the guardians of the Northern Seas stand to protect for even they have forgotten that no honor is greater than that which was bestowed upon them."
"The fate of the Sea Kingdom has always rested on the Northern Seas since the Sea Dome was formed, yet the honorable warriors of the Northern Seas have faltered from the right path... this is the result of loosing faith."
"Your Lord has trifled with the darkness, believe it or not... the fact remains what comes knows neither friend nor foe, it knowns no allies or cares for who sits upon the Sea throne, we either fight together or we all die."
"Unhand the Sea Lords, commander and henceforth you will draw your sword on my command and mine only." Zariah declared in a tone that left no room for arguments.
Alan complied immediately, raising a hand and the Sea Lords were released.
"The forsaken cannot be killed! How do we stop a force that cannot be killed?!" Lord Jole exclaimed as he and the Sea Lords took position at the front of the battle mers.
"The Crimson Alpha is here...they can be stopped." King Askel said and Zariah winced slightly at his tone but decided now was not the time to be concerned about his feelings.
"What are your orders?" Alan asked,
Just at that moment, a loud shriek was heard as the smell of rot hit Zariah and a horrifying skeletal creature leaped out from the portal.
"Nile!" Zariah called and the spirit guide leaped forwards immediately, summoning his staff.
Zariah’s eyes glowed as she summoned the Crimson Flames and right as Nile’s staff made contact with the skeletal soldier, his staff lit up in roaring blue flames and as it slammed into the skeletal soldier,
The dead creature shrieked horrendously as it caught on fire and burst into blue embers.
"Kyterin Sistri... the flame cleanses. When the Creator’s flame is unleashed, the darkness is vanquished."
"The portal is complete, you will battle to protect your Kingdom, the Spirit Element will guard your mind from the possession of the darkness and my flames will be your weapon." Zariah said as took position at the front of the battle line.
"If you are to wield the Crimson Flames, then you need not battle. We cannot afford to put you at risk." Lord Melven said from beside Zariah.
"I can take care of myself. Wielding my flames is an art of the mind, it will not hinder me from battling. Lord Melven need not be concerned." Zariah replied dismissively.
"He’s right... Nile and Commander Alan will escort you to a vantage point away from the battle." King Askel spoke up in support of Lord Melven. 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦
Zariah glanced over at him in surprise, she had not anticipated he would be willing to speak to her anytime soon.
"Askel..." Zariah began to argue but King Askel cut her off.
"Mhíjani...I am here, you do not have to do everything yourself. Let me shoulder your burdens, that is all I ask." King Askel said earnestly, paying no heed to the fact that there were over two hundred people watching them.
"You’re not...mad at me?" Zariah asked uncertainly and King Askel scoffed beneath his breath, lifting a hand to flick Zariah’s forehead lightly.
"The only thing I can do... the only thing I want to do, is love you... I know nothing else." King Askel replied, his golden orbs shinning with adoration.
Despite the situation around them, Zariah’s lips stretched into a small smile, a comforting warmth settling in her heart as she stared into those mystifying golden orbs.
A loud shriek interrupted the moment and Zariah lifted a hand in the direction on instinct, a torrent of flames flowing out of her and setting ablaze the three skeletal soldiers that had emerged.
"Granting us your flames are enough, the battle will be lost if you are harmed. Let commander Alan escort you." Lord Melven said urgently as Gretha, the large killer whale arrived before Zariah.
"Whoever falls to them becomes them! Northern battle mers...death is not an option today!" Zariah declared in a domineering tone, passing a final glance to King Askel before she climbed up to Gretha’s back.
Nile followed behind Zariah, but Kristen remained behind to battle.
"Protect the Crimson Alpha!" Lord Melven ordered and Commander Alan nodded, as Gretha surged through the Sea with Commander Alan swimming at her side.
The portal was almost completely opened and the terrifying groans and shrieks had become audible from within, whatever would emerge next was coming in full force.
Gretha surged some distance away before she took them upwards so they hovered far above the battle at the depths of the Sea.
Zariah’s gaze narrowed as she watched, the Northern battle mers draw their sword and just at that moment, over a dozen skeletal soldiers emerged from the barrier, shrieking ferociously,
Some of them held weapons whilst others had monstrous skeletal structures that seemed eerily familiar with that of demons.
They surged out in waves, shoving past one another and even climbing over themselves in their haste to reach the battle mers.
"Ready?!" Lord Melven’s roared command reached Zariah’s hearing and Zariah exchanged a glance with Nile, nodding at him.
Nile’s eyes glowed as he summoned his element, the spirit element would protect the minds of the vulnerable from the possession of the darkness...as long as they still had breathe, the darkness exuded from the forsaken could not invade their minds.
"Draw!" Lord Melven roared again and all the Northern battle mers drew their swords in perfect tandem.
Zariah knew it was her turn now, she stretched both hands out, her eyes glowing as she summoned her Crimson Flame with an intensity she had never tried before.
"Bless their weapons... vanquish the darkness, Kyterin Sistri!" Zariah snarled as every weapon of the Northern battle mers came to light with roaring blue flames.
The battle began, the dead army of darkness was upon the Northern battle mers and Zariah breathed in deeply, feeling the strain on her as her element flowed out in waves to keep the Crimson Flame burning.
With the Crimson Flame, the Northern battle mers were invincible, slashing through the army of the dead with speed and precision... the sea was their own territory, every battle was to their advantage.
Zariah watched the army of the dead emerge from the portal wave after wave and just like that they fell wave after wave.
Zariah turned her gaze to King Askel as he slashed through the army of the dead in a flash, his form was a blur as he moved with unprecedented speed, with every slash of his sword, various skeletal soldiers burst into embers.
Zariah’s worries were eased, she had known King Askel could handle himself but she could not help her concern,
Time flew by and Zariah gritted her teeth as more and more of the forsaken army poured in and she knew her strength would fail her anytime soon, the Crimson Flame was unlike her normal flames, the energy they consumed was much too great.
Zariah had never had to wield the Crimson Flame for this long, and so it was tasking on her but she held her ground.
The moment Zariah’s flames died out, the forsaken army would get the upper hand.
"Zari!... Kristen..." Nile exclaimed from behind her, Zariah’s gaze roved the battlefield and she immediately understood Nile’s concern.
Kristen was nowhere to be found, whether barricaded on all sides or overrun by the forsaken, the fact remained he could not be seen.
"Go...go find him." Zariah permitted and Nile hesitated for a moment before he leaped off Gretha’s back, his staff materializing in his grasp.
