Chapter 131: An Army (Ch.131)

~In the depths of a dark forest somewhere in the Ethereal domain~

Lennon strode down the dark hallways of the castle, heading for the study where he knew his master awaited him,

Cradled in his hand was a small chest which glowed, pulsing with ancient magic and he hurried his steps, intent to get the chest off his hands.

Soon, he arrived at the door of the study and pushed open the door, heading in.

"Lennon, is it done? Where is my treasure?" The Alpha in the shadows demanded as his golden orbs lifted to settle on his subordinate who had just stepped into his study.

"The eye of chaos has been recovered from the Sea Dome, the transition was halted in a hurry so the merging was not completed but it is safe." Lennon reported

Lennon stepped forwards and placed the chest on the table, hissing as the protection spell he cast on his hand wore off at the last moment and the magic burned through his gloves and to his skin.

"Careful... this is more valuable than the Earth itself." The Alpha in the shadows warned as he placed a hand over the chest,

The ancient magic exuded from within rushed through him and his eyes fluttered closed as he reveled in the surge of power that pulsed through every cell within his body.

"This is true power, pure and unadulterated..." The Alpha in the shadows murmured.

"How is it that My King can be in contact with it without a protection spell and it does not burn you?" Lennon asked in amazement as he stared down at his scorched palm, searing pain spreading from the burn.

"Whatever makes you think it doesn’t?" The Alpha in the shadows asked as he lifted his palm which had also been scorched red and raw.

The Alpha in the shadows stared at the burn with an unfazed expression before he shook his head slightly.

"A man who has not conquered pain is weak Lennon...a King cannot be weak and I am the Supreme King." The Alpha in the shadows replied in a blank tone.

The Alpha in the shadows watched the burn begin to heal over and soon every sign of it had disappeared, his hand restored back to it’s original state.

"The blood of the Royal Lycans in my veins has it’s perks, as loathsome as I find it..." The Alpha in the shadows murmured.

"What shall we do? The transition was interrupted and the fourth piece has not been merged, the orb is not whole yet." Lennon asked in a tone of concern.

"To restore the orb to a whole, each piece must be merged with light and darkness...it took a decade to find these four pieces and three are yet to be found."

"There is no hurry, light and darkness abound in the supernatural realm...we will have our chance to restore the orb, for now, we shall concentrate our efforts on recovering the remaining three parts."

"Then we shall restore it all as a whole." The Alpha in the shadows decided.

There was no need to risk exposing the existence of his treasure by merging it too early, the Northern Seas had been a mistake.

The Alpha in the shadows had not predicted the Sea King would involve King Askel, if he had, he would never have compromised the Northern Seas.

He had waited a long time to achieve his goals and he had planned everything carefully but had nearly ruined it in a moment of haste,

The more people exposed to his treasure, the greater risks to his grand plan.

He had always been a hundred steps ahead of everyone else, the entire supernatural realm was played in his palm...his time was coming, there was no hurry. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂

"The next piece, does My King know where is it?" Lennon asked.

The Alpha in the shadows smirked slightly, his golden orbs glowing within intrigue.

"Oh I do not know, but I will know... when the time is right." The Alpha in the shadows murmured in a dark tone.

The Alpha in the shadows then turned back to the chest on his table, staring down at it with a smile.

"Each piece is linked...they will guide my path in due time. Do not worry, it won’t be long now." The Alpha in the shadows murmured.

The Alpha in the shadows then unlocked the chest and lifted up the lid and the smirk on his lips completely disappeared as he gazed within.

Resting within the chest were three glowing crystalline objects, pulsing with ancient magic but instead of three, there should have been four.

"The fourth piece..." Lennon murmured in shock as he also noticed there were only three within the chest.

"Where is it? Where is it?!" The Alpha in the shadows demanded, his raging orbs lifting up to Lennon.

A dark, deadly aura poured off of the Alpha in the shadows and Lennon lowered his head in submission.

"I... I’m not sure, I verified it before taking it, there was definitely four of them, I swear it!" Lennon said.

"And yet I see just three Lennon, do you know how long!...How many years it has cost me to find these four pieces?!"

"With each piece found, we got closer to our goal! And now, your negligence has taken us a hundred step backwards!"

"I let you protect my treasure, this is my faith in you! Was it wrong of me to trust in your competence?! How dare you fail me?!" The Alpha in the shadows roared.

"Calm your anger, My King. I will recover the fourth piece at any costs." Lennon vowed.

"You know who has it then?" The Alpha in the shadows asked in a much calmer tone.

"Lord Imain, he is the only one who has ventured close to the chest. His confidence today struck me as suspicious, I see why now." Lennon hissed in rage, his hands clenched into fists.

"He dares to play me for a fool?! Lay his hands on my treasure?!" The Alpha in the shadows asked darkly.

"I will have him pay with his life." Lennon vowed solemnly.

The Alpha in the shadows chuckled quietly as he tilted his head back, sucking in a deep breath to restrain himself.

"No...his life alone is not enough, every living soul in the Northern Seas dies!" The Alpha in the shadows snarled as he picked up the chest and with a wave of his hand, a portal was opened in his study.

The Alpha in the shadows stepped through the portal and Lennon followed.

A desert wasteland stretched on for as far as the eye could see and the howls and growls of beasts echoed from a distance.

The desert was devoid of life, at least until a portal open in the middle and two figures stepped out of it.

"Do you know where this is, Lennon?" The Alpha in the shadow asked.

Lennon glanced around, his eyes squinting as he noticed a gleaming barrier far up ahead which gave him an idea of their present location.

"The Iron desert, the plain between the Dwarven Kingdom and the Demon Keep, the battle between the dwarves and the demons was fought here a decade ago." Lennon said knowledgeably.

"Indeed, you are a walking history text, perhaps that is why I favor you so. Tell me what you know of it." The Alpha in the shadows instructed as he leaned down, placing his palm over the desert sand.

"It was a fierce battle involving the two species that hold no regard for the supernatural alliance and both species suffered great casualties before the supernatural council could intervene." Lennon replied.

"How many casualties exactly?" The Alpha in the shadows asked.

"Almost a thousand, My King." Lennon replied and the Alpha in the shadows nodded in approval.

"A thousand...a thousand will do." The Alpha in the shadows murmured as he stretched a hand to a confused looking Lennon.

"Your dagger." The Alpha in the shadows requested.

"My King, what are you going to do?" Lennon asked as he pulled out the dagger.

"To dominate the world, there is one thing that is absolutely necessary. Do you know what it is?" The Alpha in the shadows asked.

"An army, My King. An great, indomitable army." Lennon replied without hesitation.

"Do you know why I have expended so much time searching for the treasure rather than building myself an army?" The Alpha in the shadows asked again.

"My King already has thousands who are willing to die for you, it is your birthright." Lennon replied.

"Wrong... thousands are nothing, but with the power of the darkness in my hands, everything becomes my army." The Alpha in the shadows murmured as he unsheathed the dagger and slit his palm.

"Both the living..." He murmured as he placed his bleeding palm over the ground and began murmuring a spell, his golden orbs glowed as his blood flowed into the earth and soon the earth began to tremble.

"And the dead..." The Alpha in the shadows concluded as an ominous shriek shook the desert and a skeletal hand shot out of the ground.
