Chapter 116: Queen Heveneth (Ch.116)

Queen Heveneth sat on her throne, her head leaned against her arm which rested on the arm rest,

After returning from the cave at the Eastern shores, Queen Heveneth had sent away her fairy maidens and all her attendants, she could not stand the present of anyone... she just wanted to be alone.

Queen Heveneth’s other hand was clenched up into a fist as she recalled the words of the annoying Crimson Wolves.

"I have to wonder, it has only been four days and the three days left are many enough yet the Fairy Queen has come to pressure us."

"Are you more interested in actually finding your daughter or undermining the Crimson Moon to suit your ego...it is really difficult to tell.."

"A mother would be more concerned about the well being of her missing child, rather than seeking compensation. Clearly you are more a power hungry ruler than you are a mother."

"There are three days left, perhaps you even hope we fail to find her so you may hold this against the Crimson Moon as proof of our inability."

These words rang over and over again through Queen Heveneth’s mind and her hands clenched even tighter till her knuckles were pale white.

These words that were akin to piercing a dagger right through her heart, each word more hurtful than the other.

’How dare he insinuate that I would use my Eloneth’s life to gain benefits?’ Queen Heveneth thought in rage, though her heart constricted painfully at the thought of her daughter.

Queen Heveneth also knew it, she knew the efforts the supernatural council and the Crimson Moon were expending to find her daughter,

She knew there was no one else in the supernatural realm who would go to such great lengths to aid the most hated domain and the most hated supernatural ruler.

She knew it was unreasonable of her to cast blames on the Crimson Wolves or confront them when she herself and all the forces of the Floral Domain had failed to find Eloneth no matter how hard they searched.

She knew all of this, yet she could not help herself...it had been four days and Eloneth was nowhere to be found.

Queen Heveneth had placed all her hopes on them but even the all powerful Crimson wolves were at a loss and with each passing day, Queen Heveneth lost hope.

She lost hope that she would ever see her daughter again...or perhaps her daughter would be found when she was no longer of the living.

Eloneth was all she had, Eloneth was her only offspring... she had been unable to conceive since birthing Eloneth, Eloneth was her most treasured... Eloneth was the hope of the Floral Domain. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶

And the pain and terror that consumed her whenever she thought of her daughter’s fate... Queen Heveneth just could not bear it.

She desperately needed a distraction, someone to lash out to, an easy target and with the sighting of the mermen, she had turned her rage to the Sea Kingdom.

Now that her army had been forced to retreat, Queen Heveneth could only rage at the Crimson wolves, she felt if she didn’t have someone to cast the blame on, she may very well loose her mind.

"Eloneth...my Eloneth, just where exactly are you?" Queen Heveneth murmured in devastation as she waved her hand, a goblet of wine materializing in it from which she took a large gulp.

’Too weak.. the alcohol content is much too weak.’ Queen Heveneth thought as she tossed the goblet across the room in anger,

She could drink jars of it and still yet she would remain as clear headed as she always was, haunted by her own failures.

How could they understand? How could they understand the pain of loosing a child and yet having to make decisions for the future of your domain?

How could they understand the responsibilities she was burdened with, her obligations to her people?

Yes, Queen Heveneth was willing to admit she had made selfish decisions, she was willing to admit all she had ever considered was increasing the power of the Floral Domain and making her Domain the supreme overlord.

Queen Heveneth was also willing to admit this was all her fault, she had failed Eloneth.

She had been so obsessed with her desire for supreme power that she had left her daughter to herself, she had left Eloneth to always clean up the mess she made in her greed and over ambitiousness.

When was the last time she held her Eloneth in her arms? When was the last time she braided flowers into her hair and sang to her as her own mother had done for her?

When was the last time she showed her daughter tender love and care? When?

All she had concerned herself with was affairs of the domain, evil plots and machinations to bring down the supernatural council and destroy the alliance they so cherished.

"Kodin... this is all your fault too..." Queen Heveneth whispered as she thought of that distasteful head of the supernatural realm, a man for whom she had been willing to give everything up for... even her own mate.

A man for whom her heart had once beat for, when she was nothing but a blushing fairy maiden just learning to understand the feelings of longing and love.

That was until he had crushed her heart, pushing her back to the arms of her mate with speeches of what was right and what was proper and what was the Creator’s will.

"What did I care for those? I just loved him...it did not matter if it was right, I only wanted to love him."

"It did not matter who the Creator had chosen for me, it was he whom I wanted...but for centuries, he left me to be the only one wanting." Queen Heveneth thought as a single tear slipped down her porcelain cheeks.

It was fine, it was all in the past. Kodin had broken her, but if Queen Heveneth was to be honest, there were regrets but they had not lingered.

Because Dinani had been there, he had been there to pick up the pieces Kodin had left and piece them back together one act of love after another.

Dinani whom she had rejected for her unreciprocated love, he had forgiven her, taken her back, supported her, understood her, loved her and out of their love was birthed Eloneth, their beloved daughter.

Now she had failed to protect Eloneth, again he had not blamed her but Queen Heveneth could not even bear to look Dinani in the eye.

Dinani had warned her, he had told her she was making an enemy out of the supernatural realm just to soothe her animosity against Kodin.

Yet Queen Heveneth had insisted on her ways and as doting as he always was, Dinani had stood by her side, through all her unreasonable and selfish decisions, he had stood by her side.

"Why is it only now that I see things clearly? Only now when my Eloneth..." Queen Heveneth sobbed out quietly, dropping her head down on the arm rest of her throne.

"What burdens you, love?" Lord Dinani’s voice reached Queen Heveneth and she perked up, smiling through her tears as he stepped into the throne room.

"You do not have to force a smile for my benefit, there is no one else here... come, let me hold you." Lord Dinani said in a tender tone as he strode up the steps to the throne and lifted Queen Heveneth into his arms.

Queen Heveneth clung to her mate, her head rested against his chest, the steady beating of his heart and his hand rubbing her back soothed her heart more than any wine or nectar ever could.

Queen Heveneth basked in the familiar warmth of her mate, a man she had come to love more than life itself, a man who had stood by her side unfailingly for centuries, without question or complaint.

"I should have listened to you Dinani... I should have always listened to you. If I did...if I had, perhaps things would not end up like this." Queen Heveneth sobbed quietly,

"What can we do? If Eloneth cannot be found... what can we do? How do we live without her... just how?" Queen Heveneth asked in devastation.

"Why ask how? Of course we must make them pay. We must wipe out the Sea Kingdom to avenge our daughter. We must offer the head of the Sea King on Eloneth’s altar." Lord Dinani replied in a tone, dark and deadly.

Queen Heveneth glanced up in shock, her eyes wide with bafflement as she picked up on the dark aura exuded off of him.

"Dinani... what are you saying? You were against attacking the Sea Kingdom or any other domain for that matter, weren’t you? You said a battle was foolhardy and selfish..." Queen Heveneth reminded in confusion, suspicion rising in her heart as she caught a strange glow in Dinani’s eyes.
