Sweet Wife So Charming: CEO: Hold Back Your Heart-Chapter 30: A Chance Encounter
"From now on, don’t wear this kind of sleepwear anymore." He commanded.
Moira Young looked down at her sleepwear and didn’t feel anything was wrong. She’d always worn these spaghetti-strap nightgowns; why not in the future?
Yet, seeing Julian Sinclair’s somewhat stern and cold demeanor, she nodded obediently.
"Whatever Uncle says goes, Moira will be compliant." Moira blinked, unaware that her current look was driving Julian wild.
Silly girl, you’re totally flirting!
Julian turned around and cleared his throat lightly, "Alright, let’s go downstairs to eat."
Moira finally smiled; she knew that as long as she acted cute, it would work for sure!
"Carry me!" Moira opened her arms and started acting cute again; she wanted Julian to carry her downstairs.
"Walk by yourself." Julian went straight downstairs without even turning his head.
Moira pouted, fine, don’t carry me if you won’t!
Actually, her foot had almost healed, and she could move freely. She walked to the dining room downstairs and sat down.
"Miss, the peach gum is ready. Shall I serve you a bowl?" Mrs. Miller, unaware of what just happened upstairs, had been focused on preparing something for her.
"Peach gum?" Moira momentarily forgot what she had initially said, but soon realized.
"Sure, add more longan." She glanced over at Julian, feeling reassured only when she saw he had no reaction.
"Oh, wasn’t it osmanthus peach gum?" Mrs. Miller looked questioningly at Moira.
Moira was momentarily speechless, feeling awkward, she’d been exposed...
She cautiously glanced at Julian, only to find he was already staring at her.
Moira smiled wryly, "My memory’s been poor lately..."
"Mrs. Miller has always treated you well, no more of this in the future." Julian lightly pinched her nose. Though it was a scolding, his eyes were full of affection. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
Moira nodded immediately; she certainly knew Mrs. Miller was fond of her, which was why it was so easy to fool her...
"Pack tonight; we’re going to Vesperia tomorrow."
"Uncle, I’ve basically graduated now, and I don’t want to wear the clothes I used to wear to school anymore. Can I buy new ones?" Moira took the peach gum Mrs. Miller had brought over and ate it small bites.
Julian nodded, "Yes."
Moira didn’t have many chances to go shopping; most large malls in this city were owned by Julian, and on the rare occasions she did go, the place would be cleared, with not even the staff around. It always felt boring.
"Uncle, can we not clear the place this time?" Moira asked tentatively, knowing Julian rarely appeared in public, so she could guess the answer. Still, she wanted to ask and try.
Julian put down his chopsticks.
"Why, don’t like it that way?"
Moira nodded slowly and seriously, feeling a hint of hope.
"Alright."
Such a simple, indifferent word, "alright", yet it made Moira incredibly happy. She barely ate any dinner, eagerly waiting for Julian to take her shopping.
After dinner, they went to the mall.
Moira held onto Julian’s arm but felt as if everyone around was watching them, feeling a bit uncomfortable inside.
"Uncle, why are they always looking at us..." Moira didn’t like it.
"This is the consequence of not clearing the place." Julian disliked being looked at even more than Moira did.
Moira couldn’t take it anymore. She pulled Julian into a random store to hide.
But unexpectedly, just as she entered, she bumped into someone head-on.
They locked eyes, and Moira tightened her grip on Julian’s hand. Images from two years ago flashed through her mind, leaving her breathless and a bit stifled.
She glanced at Heath Sterling’s leg, which seemed fine now.
Heath followed Moira’s necklace resting on her collarbone, then looked at her holding Julian’s arm, with an inexplicable light in his eyes.
"Heath, how does this look?" Thea Thorne’s voice came through.
