Chapter 231: Chapter 231 Seeking Medical Help!

"Beautiful sister, you are truly fortunate," Cai Qing said to Chu Lingjun inside the carriage.

Chu Lingjun was puzzled. "Fortunate in what way?"

Cai Qing glanced at Long Chen, then smiled. "To have a man like him who loves you and is so devoted to you is a rare blessing."

Chu Lingjun immediately understood what Cai Qing meant, but she didn’t rush to explain. Instead, she found herself anticipating what Long Chen would say next.

Long Chen was stunned. He hadn’t expected Cai Qing to say such a thing.

"You’ve misunderstood," he explained hurriedly. "We’re just friends, not lovers."

A trace of disappointment flashed through Chu Lingjun’s autumn-like eyes, but she quickly regained her composure.

"Ah?" Cai Qing’s mouth fell slightly agape, her eyes wide with surprise. "No way! You’re not lovers? I find that hard to believe." Shaking her head, she continued, still looking skeptical, "As an outsider, even I can sense how much you care for her. If you’re not lovers, who would go to such lengths for someone?"

"You’re truly mistaken," Long Chen said plainly. "Her injury is my fault. That’s why I have to find a way to heal her, no matter what."

Cai Qing glanced at Chu Lingjun again. Seeing that Cai Qing was still unconvinced, Chu Lingjun nodded slightly. "We are fellow sect members, so it’s only natural for us to look after one another. It’s not the kind of relationship you’re imagining."

"Oh, I see." Cai Qing smiled. "Well, my mistake. I was reading too much into it. Sorry about that." She added, "Still, I think you two make a perfect pair—a handsome talent and a beautiful lady."

"Enough," Long Chen said calmly. "This isn’t the time for talk of romance. How much longer until we reach the place you mentioned?"

"We’re almost there," Cai Qing said, no longer dwelling on the matter and pointing ahead. "Just another fifteen kilometers."

"Good." Long Chen nodded slightly. He took advantage of the time to circulate his Battle qi, focusing on healing his internal injury.

Meanwhile, Chu Lingjun watched him. Gradually, her mind drifted back to what had happened between them in the cave on the snowy mountain, and her lovely face couldn’t help but turn scarlet.

"Beautiful sister, what’s wrong?" Cai Qing asked with concern, noticing her expression. "Are you feeling unwell again?"

"I’m fine, it’s just a little warm, that’s all. Nothing to worry about," Chu Lingjun replied quickly, shaking her head vigorously to clear the images from her mind.

Chu Lingjun, oh Chu Lingjun, what in the world are you thinking? If anyone else knew, wouldn’t you become a laughingstock?

She took a deep breath, trying hard to calm herself and think no more of it. But Long Chen’s words—’just friends’—left a very uncomfortable feeling in her heart.

That ungrateful beast! I should have just let him die and been done with it!

About an hour later, Cai Qing spoke up. "Big Brother, beautiful sister, we’ve arrived."

At her words, Long Chen, who had been circulating his Battle qi, slowly withdrew it and exhaled a long, turbid breath. He opened his eyes and got out of the carriage. Then he turned back and held out his arms, waiting to lift Chu Lingjun down.

Chu Lingjun glanced at him and hesitated for a moment before saying, "That’s not necessary. I can get down myself."

"Hm?" Long Chen looked at her in surprise.

Chu Lingjun ignored him and started to get off the carriage on her own. But in her weakened state, she stumbled and began to fall backward. With swift reflexes, Long Chen shot forward and caught her.

He frowned slightly. "You’re so weak you can barely stand. Why are you trying to act tough?"

His words only made Chu Lingjun more upset.

"It’s none of your business!" she snapped, pulling away from him and stalking off.

"What in the...?" Long Chen was completely baffled. "How utterly bizarre."

Cai Qing, having witnessed everything, shook her head and said to Long Chen, "Big Brother, you’re a real blockhead."

"A blockhead?" Long Chen pointed at himself, his eyes wide.

"The beautiful sister is angry, and you must have done something to provoke her," Cai Qing said.

"What did I do?" Long Chen asked, confused. "I thought I’ve been taking good care of her."

Seeing he still didn’t get it, Cai Qing shook her head with a laugh. "Big Brother, I really wasn’t kidding before. You truly are as dense as a block of wood! It’s not my place to say too much. You’ll have to figure it out for yourself."

As a woman, Cai Qing naturally understood why Chu Lingjun was feeling that way. After saying her piece to Long Chen, she hurried to catch up with Chu Lingjun.

Long Chen stood frozen for a moment. Then, in the next instant, he strode over to Chu Lingjun and swept her up into his arms.

"What do you think you’re doing?" Chu Lingjun’s voice was icy. "Put me down! I don’t need you to carry me. I can walk by myself!"

Long Chen didn’t say a word, nor did he show any sign of letting her go. He simply held her tightly in his arms and said to Cai Qing, "Lead the way."

Cai Qing grinned and led them up the mountain.

It took them another three hours to get from the foot of the mountain to the peak.

"We’re finally here," Cai Qing panted, gasping for breath. Long Chen, however, remained perfectly calm.

Cai Qing scanned the surroundings, her gaze finally settling on a small house in the distance. She immediately said to Long Chen, "The divine healer should be in there."

"Alright." Long Chen nodded and walked straight toward the house.

When Long Chen was about ten meters away, a weathered and indifferent voice drifted from inside. "Young man, this is not a place for you. Leave at once."

"Might I ask if you are the legendary divine healer, Elder?" Long Chen asked, getting straight to the point. "I have traveled a great distance to come here today, hoping to request that the divine healer treat my friend’s injuries!"

Cai Qing also chimed in, "This big brother and beautiful sister are good people! Please, Divine Healer, lend them your aid!"

"You should leave," the old man’s voice came again. "There is no divine healer here. I am merely an old man living out my days in peace."

"Divine Healer..." Cai Qing called out, stepping forward. But before she could take a second step, a barrier materialized and blocked her path.

"Let it go," Chu Lingjun said, shaking her head. "Since the Elder is unwilling to treat me, we can’t force him."

"I told you, as long as there’s a chance to heal you, I won’t give up!" Long Chen said, his tone firm. He then gently set Chu Lingjun down and turned to Cai Qing. "Help me look after her."

"Of course!" Cai Qing nodded firmly, helping Chu Lingjun to a place to sit and rest.

Long Chen faced the house again. "Elder, what must I do for you to agree to treat her?"

The old man’s voice replied grimly, "I have already told you. Your best course of action is to turn back. Do not waste your time here."

THUD!

Long Chen fell to both knees.

"Long Chen, what are you doing?" Chu Lingjun cried out. "Get up! Quickly! If the Elder won’t treat my injuries, we’ll just find another way..."

Long Chen didn’t respond to her, instead addressing the house, "If the Elder refuses to provide treatment, then this junior will kneel here until you do!"
