Chapter 232: Chapter 232 Conditions!

The elderly man inside the room made no sound in response to Long Chen’s words.

"Long Chen..."

Chu Lingjun started toward him but was stopped by Cai Qing. "Sister, since this gentleman is so determined, let’s just hold on a little longer. What if there really is a chance? We can’t let all his efforts go to waste."

Hearing Cai Qing’s words, Chu Lingjun froze. She was right; if they gave up now, everything truly would have been for nothing. Finally, she declared, "If you’re going to kneel, then we’ll kneel together!"

With that, Chu Lingjun walked to Long Chen’s side and knelt on both knees as well.

"What are you doing here?" Long Chen’s voice was low and stern. "Leave this to me. Why are you joining in? In your current condition, you can’t last long under this scorching sun. Get up, now!"

"If you don’t get up, I won’t either," Chu Lingjun retorted stubbornly, her voice cold.

"You..."

Defeated, Long Chen had no choice but to turn to Cai Qing. "Please take her somewhere else to rest. Don’t let her get involved in this."

"Oh," Cai Qing nodded and quickly went to Chu Lingjun, trying to help her up.

But Chu Lingjun snapped, "Don’t touch me! I said, if he doesn’t get up, neither will I! Whatever he does—"

Before she could finish, Long Chen knocked her unconscious with a quick chop to the neck.

Cai Qing rushed forward to catch Chu Lingjun, looking at Long Chen, at a complete loss. "This..." 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦

"She’s fine. I just made her rest," Long Chen explained. "Take her away from here. Don’t let her stay out in the scorching sun. In her current state, she can’t take it."

"Don’t worry, sir. I’ll take good care of her."

After saying this, Cai Qing helped Chu Lingjun over to the shade of a large tree.

Long Chen knelt from day to night, and then from night back to day.

「In the blink of an eye, a full day had passed.」

Long Chen remained kneeling in the same spot, completely motionless.

Just then, Chu Lingjun slowly began to stir.

"Sister, you’re awake," Cai Qing said, quickly helping her up.

"What happened...?" Chu Lingjun felt a dull ache in her shoulder and immediately understood. She shot to her feet and looked toward Long Chen. He knelt like a mountain, utterly still.

"That bastard," Chu Lingjun cursed under her breath, walking over to Long Chen’s side to kneel once again.

"Sister—" Cai Qing called out, but Chu Lingjun wouldn’t be dissuaded.

"Didn’t I tell you to stay out of this?" Long Chen scolded with a frown, deeply worried that her body couldn’t handle the strain.

Chu Lingjun replied coolly, "I’m warning you, if you dare to touch me again, you’ll regret it."

Seeing her determination, Long Chen could only shake his head and give up.

Cai Qing, seeing this, knelt beside them as well. "In that case, let’s all kneel until the Divine Doctor agrees."

Another hour passed. Chu Lingjun’s face grew increasingly pale, but she gritted her teeth and held on.

The sky suddenly changed.

BOOM!

A clap of thunder echoed from above. Raindrops the size of pearls began to pour from the heavens, drenching the three of them.

Long Chen immediately looked at Chu Lingjun. "Can you hold on?"

"Yes!" she answered at once, nodding without a hint of hesitation.

About ten minutes later, battered by the downpour, Chu Lingjun’s body reached its limit. Her vision swam. Finally, her eyes closed, and she collapsed to the ground, completely unconscious.

Seeing this, Long Chen scrambled to her side and took her pulse. His expression turned incredibly grave. Her pulse was terrifyingly weak; she was on the brink of death. Long Chen’s heart seized. For a moment, he didn’t know what to do.

He pulled her into his arms. "Spirit Monarch! Wake up!" he shouted. "Don’t you fall asleep! I told you, no matter what happens, I will do everything I can to save you!"

But no matter how he called, Chu Lingjun remained unresponsive.

"AAAAAH—!"

Overcome with grief, Long Chen let out a roar that shook the heavens. A terrifying aura erupted from his body, and his outburst even warped the magnetic field of the sky above. It was as if twin dragons, one black and one white, were circling in the storm clouds, their resounding roars echoing through the sky.

Hearing the commotion in the sky, the old man inside the house suddenly set down his teacup. His eyes brightened as he gazed upward.

This disturbance... he muttered. In a flash, he vanished from the spot.

"No matter the cost, I will not let anything happen to you!"

As his voice fell, Long Chen’s eyes turned blood-red. He channeled all of his battle qi, concentrating it into his fist before unleashing a furious blow against the barrier!

But at that exact moment, the barrier opened on its own, revealing an old man standing before Long Chen.

With a casual wave of his hand, he sent Long Chen flying.

"You—"

Before Long Chen could say more, the old man cut him off. "That disturbance in the sky just now. That was you."

"Yes," Long Chen nodded. He cupped his fists respectfully and said, "Please, Divine Doctor, save my friend. Her life is hanging by a thread."

The old man glanced at Chu Lingjun before speaking slowly. "It is not impossible for me to save her. However, you must first agree to some of my conditions."
